More dragon Quest games on xbox?

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 06:54 AM PST

I'm super happy that dragon quest finally made its way to xbox. How big are the changes for the next DW games to also be on xbox? Have they said something about that?

DQ 3 Insulatle at 33 rather than 32

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 08:22 AM PST

Everything I've read said the spell Insulatle (formerly Barrier) is learned at level 32 but my cleric did not learn it at level 32 and instead got it at 33. I'm playing the Switch version. I'm wondering if perhaps he needs to have certain stats AND level 32 to learn it. Or it was changed for this version. I just find this mildly interesting!

How do I know what stats affect each move or ability?

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 09:00 AM PST

For example, how do I know whether a healing move like Hustle Dance is boosted by Charm or Magical Mending?

Also, how important are stats like deftness, agility, etc., and if important, who are they important on?

Lastly, how important is critical chance vs damage?

No spoilers please--I only just picked up a certain old man and warrior princess.

Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai 2020 Episode 14 - Anime Preview Englis...

Just finished DQ XI S. Erik was my GOAT.

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 08:12 PM PST

By "finished" I mean I got the end credits. Of course there's plenty more to do (which is exactly what we want, right? Who wants to just put the game away and not spend any more time with these characters?)

Anyway, on the last 3 bossfights Erik did over 70% of the damage. Total MVP. Hero got in on the action but Erik with dual knives Cobra Strike followed by Victimizer wasn't even funny. Had someone cast Oomphle and that was the ballgame. He might be my new favorite character in the series.

[DQX] Which version is the best?

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 01:09 AM PST

Hi guys, I'm interested in trying play DQX sooner or later this year (after finishing my DQXIS playthrouh :P).

I do know a bit of japanese (pretty rusty right now but I guess it's a matter of time to ge re-used to) so that won't be much of a problem.

My concern is at what version should I play. I read a lot of people that own the Switch port but I don't get why I should play it on console. It's cheaper? It's easier to set up or to pay for the monthly subscription?

(On a side note, I heard that DOX would eventually become a broswer game too: are the beta tests still going?)

Another isssue is that I'm from Europe, so guess I'll still need a VPN access to play it whether on PC or console. Are there any recommendation about what VPN software should I use or to what server should I connect (may US ones are closer than japanese ones) to get less latency.

Considering it's a MMO game I'm looking forward to connect with and team up with other DQ loving players.

    Thanks!

With Dragon Quest Fairly Mainstream, Lets Reflect on the series and where we're at Now Today

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 01:06 PM PST

DQ has been through some ups and downs and rough patches, several dark ages and even long periods where we didn't get any games for years on end. I remember most of them, more recent anyway. I believe what started this localization DQ boom was DQ Heroes 1 on PS4 and then DQ XI got finally announced to come over here stateside and the west and now Dragon Quest XI is the most mainstream Dragon Quest ever and well marketed. Anyways the series came a long way, and I'll spar you the history here of it, but Smash Ultimate happened and released Hero for Smash and DQ further went more mainstream and well known from there. This and a mix of DQ XIs advertising did the trick. DQ XI OG on PS4 wasnt well marketed but it did have some internet ads and mild ads to help even if not that much. But once Hero came out and DQ XI S was announced for Switch, the marketing went overdrive and much better, DQ and Nintendo have always had a great relationship and Nintendo of course marketed the game and character very well when he came out and provided a Demo for DQ XI S for Nintendo Switch owners which got a lot of people into it. The Demo even now is released on all platforms and is still getting people into DQ. Dragon Quest XI came to Xbox Game Pass recently and its doing even more wonders for further marketing the series. It feels like every day now that we see someone say I'm starting DQ XI here which is great and this is my first Dragon Quest game ever and asking for tips and how it is.

So yeah this is great and only a good thing in my opinion, I think we'll always get games from here and not have to worry about it or the franchise anymore coming here in the West. Square Enix finally cares about the series and markets it better even if not perfect yet like Final Fantasy still but its getting there don't worry. DQs anniversary is here so I expect more marketing and localization announcements this year too worldwide. I'm glad to be a Dragon Quest fan today and I hope everyone else is too, tell me what you think of the state of Dragon Quest today and where its at now as a franchise in the West and what your experience has been watching it become more popular nowadays similar to Persona 5 or other JRPGs getting more mainstream in this new JRPG Golden Era now where for the most part in, the Golden Era will always been the 90s/2000s but this is a good Renaissance for JRPGs for sure today getting second chances and big with big sales numbers for each franchise. But yeah tell me what you think on all this below on Dragon Quest getting more mainstream nowadays and if your a newer fan that just started the Dragon Quest series tell us your story and how you came to find the games and what your experience and opinion of the series and XI etc has been for you personally up to this point, I'd love to hear and am very interested in this and hearing everyone's experience and perspective on it, thanks for reading and cant wait to read the comments. Thank you, and again its great to see this sub at 60k and still growing too, awesome stuff!

    Morrie's Monster Arena Rank S

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 11:28 PM PST

So, I managed to beat Rank B, and thus A, during the Arcadia stretch, but when I tried to get into Rank S, it's just... not present in the list of options. I've seen some people bring it up having done it by now, but it's just weird for me to not see it. Does the game just really not want me to have a party of four for right now? (I'm on the 3DS version).

    Any Original Dragon Quest Hacks?

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 07:49 PM PST

    Any Original Dragon Quest Hacks?

He everyone! I was wondering if there were any DQ hacks with original stories or worlds. I've been playing a lot of Pokemon and Fire Emblem Hacks and their community seems to produce some really interesting games. Are there any? and if so what would you suggest? Doesn't matter the entry I love all the games.

    Thank you again!

What's your score in the trial? I think I might be able to get it down to 19 maybe 18 moves, but I'm already glad with this

Thank you all for upvotes and comments on my DQ5 (PS2) Metal Slimes clip. Here is another clip from my playing full King's Mantle dungeon on Dragon Quest V (PS2). P.S. I cut off some battles because I can't post more 15 minutes clip on reddit.

about switching between 2d and 3d for farming... Definitive Edition

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 08:00 PM PST

can i get an explanation about how to get it to work? i can guess how it works, but an explanation to tell me the process would be helpful since i cant find it. im thinking of using it to farm seeds, which is why is says farming in the title.

not one big block of information please.

random bonus question, i was playing while writing this. can Hallelujah fail?

    edit: clarification.

google is evil. where can i farm seeds in act 3 Definitive Edition

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 05:28 PM PST

most of the farming suggestions seem to be the super Seeds(cant do it yet due to Draconian strong), or being in act 2 on the "strong man" island(island of trolls, brownies and cyclops).

i dont think i will need skills seeds. my erik is level 98, and i never used a single skill seed on him, and his skill board is maxed out.

Even when made in a world that no longer exists, a promise is a promise. Even more when made to DQ11's best girl (please don't start another Waifu War, we lost many in the last one )
