Correct Dragon Quest 2 Switch Tombola timings for the Star Card

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 05:34 AM PST

Since I just wasted a few hours in the switch remaster of DQ 2 Luminaries of the Legendary Line, id figured id share my discoveries, since all the guides I found online for tombola timings were mediocre and didnt help me much.

You need three suns. The first wheel has one sun, the second two suns, the third has one again. All wheels have 16 symbols. The exact sequences can be found on gamefaqs at gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/587248-dragon-warrior-ii/49125220 . The algorithm appears to be the same on switch, but the wheels go so damn fast its hard to tell.

The first wheel has a delay of about 9-10 tiles from where you press. It starts almost on the sun. You need to hit very close to the second star after the sun to hit the sun. If you land on a heart you are close, the sun on all boards have hearts next to them. If you press roughley 1.5 seconds after the game starts you should be able to get this on 50% of your runs.

The second wheel can be easily cheesed by just spamming input as soon as it can be stopped, this gives me the sun very consistently. It also has the highest likelyhood for giving a sun randomly with 1/8 odds. I feel it stops 6ish symbols after input but because it is such a lenient wheel I never had to figure out the exact timing.

The third wheel is complete bullshit and turns for a long time after stopping. There are three Moons on wheel 3, you need to hit the middle moon farthest away from the sun in both directions to get the sun. All in all It took me 4 attempts with double suns on wheels 1+2 to get 3 suns.

Do not bother for the other prices on switch, the wand can be bought for a reasonable price, the bell and the herb are cheap, the ring can be found sooner in the windbraker tower. The coupon is the only unique reward somewhat worth the hassle.

I hope someone can use this.

Dragon Quest Heroes 1 & 2 on Nintendo Switch is now listed by an Austrian retailer as... 2 separate games!

I beat DQ V some time ago. Where to next?

    Posted: 10 Feb 2020 10:34 PM PST

It's my first dq game beaten. I played the demo of Viii when I was a kid, and I've played a little of XI S (I own a copy.)

But I'm fairly new to the series overall.

    Any recs?

    Dragon Quest 8 Audio

    Posted: 10 Feb 2020 11:12 PM PST

So I was having an issue with the audio on DQVIII where there would always be a crackling noise in the audio with occasional popping. I bought a separate copy from a completely different source in case it was the disc but I had the same problem with that disc too. I tested other games and none of them had a problem with the audio, only DQVIII. I'd appreciate any help at all.

    [11] Slime Farming

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 12:45 AM PST

How early can you actually begin to farm metal slimes and grind to 99?

I just got to Act 2. Hero is about level 41. How much further do I need to go before I can get that grind on?

I’ve recently played DQ 1-6 on iOS. Seems like DQ7 isn’t readily available on iOS, PSN, or Switch. Should I just skip and go to DQ8?

DQXI S: Can you get more of certain weapons? *spoilers*

    Posted: 10 Feb 2020 11:06 AM PST

Recently started Act 3, and I got the recipes to upgrade certain weapons. But i'm something of a completionist, so I'm not sure I want to sacrifice those weapons without knowing if I can get another one.

    The weapons in question are:

    -Stardust Sword

    -Deft Dagger

    -Meteorang

    -Bright Staff

    -Poker

    -Gringham Whip

    -Beastmaster Claws

    -Bad Axe

Also, both the Sword of Light and the Sword of Shadows have been destroyed for plot reasons. Will I be able to get either of them back again?
