Just beat Mordegon in DQXI. Probably not continuing. Which DQ game should I try next?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2021 10:47 AM PDT

I actually played the game as it came, or as the older games played, and didn't take control over the whole party, just the Hero.

This game lasted 15-20 hours too long, in my opinion. Hero, Rab and Serena all died and Hendrik had no MP by the time the tail & both showed up at the same time. I never did quite figure out the inventory system, so I also had absolutely zero items to use for healing. I did take over the party at this point, spamming Sylvano's remiheal, Erik's bouldersmash & divide. Hendrik just had to attack and I kept Jade on that fury thing. Thankfully the tail went down right about the time Rab & Serena died, so I only had to deal with the one.

I might go explore the cities, but I'm not going to continue to the uberboss. The only other DQ games I've played are the original and the second, as well as the two builders games. I can't say thoroughly enjoyed this particular iteration, but somehow it's been my favorite game to play this year. Barely.

The beginning was really enjoyable, and once the story got going I actually had a bit of fun. The game started to drag pretty bad once I had to go back through all the places I'd already been, but that's par for many of the JRPGs, I guess.

Not sure which I'll play next. I've got VII, VIII, Monsters: Joker, as well as DQ Heroes (Slime) on Steam. Any suggestions, or will I feel the same as with DQXI?

Should I play 4,5,6 in order as I've heard they are slightly linked, or does it not matter?

Just a quick tip for DQ XI S players

    Posted: 25 Aug 2021 12:14 PM PDT

When your in Act 3 becareful switching from 2D to 3D, i played most of the game in 2D but switch to 3D to help with the Outfit trophy and Pastwords list and when i did that I lost my entire completion of Trial Isle and lost the Superior Sword of Light to the point i am having to redo all 3 trials again.

Just wanted to give far Warning because switching to 3D does make seeing some info easier but its possible to lose alot of progress too

Need to level up. Where and how to do this?

    Posted: 25 Aug 2021 05:03 PM PDT

Specifically which monsters, locations, etc can I get the most points toblevel skills and such. I currently use Mount Huji and Snearfelt (especially at night ) and had some sucess.

Also I heard about a so called 'electro light method',what is this? And what else can I do? I'm post Yggdrasil and trying to grind so I can beat Mordegon.

I thought I was almost there but just only finisht act one :(

    Posted: 25 Aug 2021 03:55 PM PDT

So I've been playing this game on and of for some time now. I used IGN to view how far in the game i was. (For me that is important to know so I get some grip) According to IGN I was at chapter 10 which meant i only had to play through 2 more chapters to finish the game. But now I've found out that those last chapters have many many tasks and storyline and is basically Act 2 devided over 2 chapters. And now I feel very demotivated .

So. Is act 2 really that long? I'm at that point where we split up after that fight about the orbs and the sword and I became a fish. Also. Is it fun? The game feels so long for me and it drags on and on.

What's the best way to grind levels before level 20?

    Posted: 25 Aug 2021 01:25 PM PDT

I've been playing this game for about 3 days now and I've made it to Dundrasil, I need to become more powerful again because now it's getting extremely difficult to win a story boss. I'm trying to get to 23 so that I can get a more powerful spell, where is the fastest to grind?

So let me get this straight..

    Posted: 25 Aug 2021 02:48 PM PDT

If i want to recruit a new party member, i have to start from level 1?! I have two warriors, one was Amazon and another was Bully, at lvl 11 every single one of Bully's stats was worse than the Amazon, So i decided to ditch her. I get a fighter and she's like a baby pikachu. Very weak, i had to stash two party members and now im grinding with just my Hero and her, this is silly because it makes it so you have to really commit to a party..
