I beat DQ1 - 6 for the first time! Posted: 16 Oct 2021 05:30 AM PDT I just completed Dragon Quest VI. This game made me feel like I was in a toxic relationship. The fetch quests was exhausting to the point I convinced myself I hated the game. But not once did I give up; I made sure to do all the side-quests on top of it all. It was when I turned off the game after Ashlynn disappeared when I realized how much I love the game. I mean, she wasn't that significant plot-wise, but her "death" pissed me off. Found out there's a Secret Ending where she's alive and well, so I reloaded my last save state and resumed the game. Anyways, I can proudly say that I completed the Erdrick Trilogy and the Zenithia Trilogy. Now onto Dragon Quest VII! I heard it's super long (oh god). [link] [comments]

Question about the Dragon Quest 11 Demo Posted: 16 Oct 2021 03:12 AM PDT So I played the Demo of Dragon Quest 11 Definitive Edition, and I'm just wondering: Can I keep playing from my demo save file when I buy the physical version, or do I have to download the full game digitally? Dumb question I know, but I'm unsure [link] [comments]
Do you guys prefer Dragon Quest games with a larger cast, or a small party of characters? Posted: 15 Oct 2021 04:39 PM PDT Title is fairly self-explanatory. Certain Dragon Quest games, such as 4 and 11 give you a large group of characters to control. Dragon Quests 5 and 6 even go as far as to have entire monster recruitment systems. Conversely, Dragon Quests 7 and 8 give you a small number of characters to use (the original 8 containing only enough for a single party), while giving them a high degree of customisation to enhance replay value. Personally, I can see the appeal of both approaches. Having a large ensemble cast to control takes away from the monotony of staring at the same 4 characters for potentially 100 hours, and it arguably allows them to have more specialised roles, mechnically. Dragon Quest 8's main characters follow a rather uninteresting Hero - Warrior - Mage - Priest formula, because they have to: in a game with only 4 party members you need a healer, and tank, and so on. In contrast 11 has a Paladin, a Minstrel, a Sage, and so forth, allowing for a wide variety of party formations. Being able to strategically switch out characters in battle can also make for some really cool strategies. However, it's also plain to see that something is lost in having more characters. With a more intimate cast, you can really explore all of the characters in a way you just can't with an ensemble. 11 is my favourite game in the series, but even with its ~100 hour runtime it struggles to flesh out its entire cast (Jade in particular feels like a non-entity). I sometimes catch myself thinking I would prefer 4 highly customisable, vibrant, mechanically deep characters getting the same level of development as 11's entire cast. It also gets slightly awkward seeing a massive group of adventures hanging around in every cutscene IMO. Feels like if they all just piled onto the enemy at once they'd resolve things pretty quickly lol. What do you guys think? Personally, I'm okay with the series alternating between the two approaches. I'd be fairly interested in the next game mixing it up with only 4 party members at any one time (perhaps with one or two slots changing hands as the story progresses), and bringing back the vocation system from 6 or 7. I miss the feeling of getting to know these people like family which 8 had, despite how much I enjoyed 11. [link] [comments]

Amazing infinite Gold cheat for DQIV Posted: 16 Oct 2021 12:27 AM PDT I've recently just discovered this so hear me out, during Chapter 3 of the game, Torneko is introduced to us, with his first goal being to own his own shop. You farm the requirements, buy the shop, and turn in 6 swords and armors to the king of Endor which lands you 60000 gold. Instead of giving it to the tunnel man, you reinvest it. Take it back to the first shop you work at in Lakanaba, buy yourself as many Cautery swords as you can and sell it back at your own shop until you not only have enough for the tunnel, but have about 50 Cautery swords in your bag. I think this is OP, but it can be a bit time consuming. [link] [comments]
Can't beat Dragon Quest XI last boss Posted: 15 Oct 2021 02:17 PM PDT Ok so, before the flamming on such an "easy" topic, well, I really can't, I even stopped playing for around 4 months, and am thinking on playing again, if I can find a way around It's not about strategy, since I have change my active party countless times and tried different strategies, is not about equipment since I have best equipment for almost everyone (except for post-game equipment obviously). is not about levels since I am lvl 96 average, I just don't know what to do I don't know if its, because actually I don't even remember seeing that in options and don't remeber find it either when I was trying to beat the boss, the fact that I am playing, perhaps, on hard difficulty, but if my memory serves me right, DQXI don't have difficulty levels except for the one where you play without armor... so my fight goes like this: I mainly use Hero, Veronica, Serena and a change between Hendrick, Jade. My strategy tends to cover the healing with Hero/Serena, while using bounce with Veronica to avoid the boss casting and hitting me with mass spells, get the tank Hendrick to get all the dmg, while healing him and getting him the defense skill where he blocks all the attacks, or almost all of them, while also attacking with Hero and Veronica, and the same Hendrick while the skills and buff are active. So... with that I only manage to literally get Last Boss Mask off. I tend to change Hero for Sylvando to cure status afflictions, and then get Hero back, to continue attacking or sub-healing with Serena. All the variations I do are always keeping at least Veronica and Serena in the team, but basically I have tried all the formations possible; and where lies the problem? for me, Last Boss gets between 3 to 4 turns consecutive and gets my team down to the 100-200 mark (when Hendrick is not blocking, since there is always 1 turn off where you have to decide between blocking and PERHAPS letting the rest of the team get hit/die, or absorbing all damage and PERHAPS letting him die, when you don't have the Aggro skill buff active + the blocking all attacks active at the same time, since there is always 1 turn diff between both) where I have to heal the entire party while only attacking with Veronica... then Boss heals 999HP, and my MP starts getting down and down, until I have to restort to items or the combine spell of Ver and Ser (don't remember the name) to get MP periodically per turn, but no matter how I see it is too weird I get killed in "his turn" (the 3-4 turns consecutive he gets) or get down the 100-200 mark (sometimes 300) for the entire team. I see people talking about strategy and lvls being around 70, and getting good gear, but I can't get better gear than what I already have since I am not post game, and I can't get a better strategy that literally protects my team that is not Hendrick absorbing all dmg... SO, why the heck is my last boss fight so hard compared to what I read in the forums and what I see in YT-videos? is perhaps the PC-definite version of the game harder? If I could at least lvl up over 99, well, good grief, but I am 25+ lvls over the average for that boss, with best gear possible until that moment, and there is no strategy that lets me win this fight... any ideas? any help that could be provided? any way to get the damn difficulty down (if that is the actual issue, since, as I repeat, I don't remember DQXI having different Diff levels beside the no armor run).. what can I do to actually finish the game? All that without tanking into accoutn his breath atk where he literally infects the entire team with at least one status ailment, and if you're lucky enought, that might NOT be curse... :) - that at some sort of point,I can actually deal with.. if the boss wouldn't smack me down all the time in his turn [link] [comments]
Questions about DQM Monsters 2 3DS fan translation Posted: 15 Oct 2021 04:33 PM PDT Now that it's in English, what's up with the ending where you have to fly around on the bird to Esterk in the ocean? What's the story with that? And the post post game story where you refight all the bosses from all the Joker games? Why do you have to? Since I will never be able to play it [link] [comments] |
