Werewolf Erik! I think it would be cool if Erik turned into a wolf when using Wild Side instead of just going feral. (Also featuring the Luminary) (OC)

Found Dragon Quest 3 and 4 on Ebay for a decent price. Super cool owning these games even if I can't effectively play them.

Reviving an old project of mine and starting from scratch I’m currently drawing every Smash Bros character in roster order Fighter 72: Hero/The Luminary (I know this is bad but it’s better than what would be my first attempt)

I was just talking about who I would drop off to get him if I was lucky enough. I have dubbed Budder

I will refrain from talking about "it" since I know it's a bit taboo in this subreddit.

But for those of you that have questions about my earlier post, just feel free to DM me.

Disgusted by Act II’s treatment of Carnelian and Hendrick

    Posted: 21 Jan 2022 02:21 AM PST

Moms is telling me to be on my best behavior in front of the "king" - so mom, we actually don't call demented senior citizens who let Main Bad Guy ride their asshole all the way into apocalyptic sunset, "king", and we DEFINITELY don't let them play dress up and start barking orders like they weren't just calling DOLLAR STORE DENNIS HOPPER KING KOOPA daddy and begging to help them kill the world tree, and he DEFINITELY BETTER BE ON HIS BEST BEHAVIOR AROUND ME.

I walk into this nigga's tent and in one sentence he has called me his servant. That, for me, warrants execution, maybe after making him watch me rawdog Jade.

Meanwhile everybody goin off about their "hero" Hendrick who single-handedly killed the world by WASTING MY MOTHERFUCKING TIME ON REPEAT and who can't apologize for it because he's "not eloquent". Your "hero" was a gleeful force of darkness my boi, and is out here telling me to "pull my weight" when he should be begging me not to execute him alongside his partner-in-getting-topped-by-king-koopa.

Is anyone interested in playing DQX?

    Are mini medals… evil?

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 09:07 PM PST

Hear me out. Always got such bad vibes from that little girl-indoctrinating academy and its cringe president. I also always seem to know, in a sort of foreboding way, when a chest is going to contain one. Just got to Yggdrasil's alter, and wondered comically to myself while walking its perimeter whether the devs chose to taint it with loot - when I saw the chest, I knew exactly what'd be in it. Is it time to face facts, and admit these diminutive doubloons are in fact the servants of Morgdemon (sp) himself??

Am I missing something, or is Jade by far the weakest party member?

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 03:14 AM PST

I finished DQ11 a few days ago, amazing game and my first JRPG, but one thing's been bothering me about the team balance ever since I finished it

-Hero's a jack of all trades

-Erik can deal massive damage to bosses once set up

-Veronica is an area damage dealer with debuffs -Serena's an all-in healer

-Sylvando is a general supporter who can do many things

-Rab's a magic user with a bigger focus on single targets

-Eight's a tank who can sacrifice HP to help his team or deal massive damage

But Jade… I don't know if she just didn't work with my go to strategy, if she's just outclassed by Erik in every way, if I set up her skill tree wrong, but I wound up almost never using her, even against enemies she supposedly did good against, like flying ones Did I just do something wrong or is she actually just the weakest?

DQ1 on the switch was the fastest I've ever given up on a game.

    Posted: 21 Jan 2022 01:35 AM PST

So for context I'm level 6 going through the first dungeon (not the useless Erdrick grave one at the top of the map), and ive opened all 3 gold chests. But then i get lost, I run out of mp, and the next thing you know im dead and lost half of it. This is 5 bucks and a half hour (25 minutes of which i wasted grinding) im never getting back.

Is it possible to miss/fail side quests?

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 02:51 PM PST

I recall having a side quest in Phnom Nonh where I needed to defeat one of those umbrella monsters when it was raining, but now that I've gotten into Act 2, I don't see that quest listed in my quest catalog.

Am I just not seeing it, or do some quests disappear if you don't complete them before Act 2?

Why do you think the monster joker series doesnt feel as good as the original GBC games?

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 04:02 PM PST

I know there's some joker fan out there but for the most part, this is the most common opinion that i gathered across the internet. (Although there's not much explanation on the reasons)

I'm currently playing Joker 2 now and kind of agree. I feel like the game lack the "oomph" that were in the GBC games but can't quite put exactly where.

If I had to take a guess, for me personally, i feel like breeding in the joker games doesnt feel as satisfying as the originals. You spent this whole time, synthesing, spending points for skills and inheriting them, but for the most part you dont really use them that much except for big fights since they costs a significant amount of MP, thus 90% of the times, your monsters are still doing normal attacks like before, only with new sprites. This make the sense of progression with the monsters you use feels lacking. Yes their stats is better, but you dont really see that much.

Unlike in the original games, where once your monster learned a skill you are able to spam it to take you through the game. This make breeding feel fruitful and the more you breed, you can slowly feel the monsters keep getting better skills, making you wipe out mobs faster and that where i feel the satisfaction coming from.

11’s party as colors of the rainbow?

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 12:02 AM PST

Just got to the bit where the evil painting excitedly sizes up the party… "Red, orange, yellow, green…. all 7 colors of the rainbow!" Was this supposed to be a personality thing? I think Erik:Blue, Hero:Indigo, and Rab:Orange are pretty safe bets, but Veronica/Sylvando and Serena/Jade seem to share Red and Green, respectively, and there's no dominant Violet or Yellow in the party.

DQX: Rise of the Five Tribes (Wii)

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 04:17 PM PST

So my brother is looking to offload his Japanese DQX for Wii so I figured I'd ask here in case one of you guys might be interested in taking it. He wants $30 (and shipping is like $5) for it, which is what it seems to go for online. Can ship only within the US. I made a post on r/gamesale about it, I have some completed sales there.

Dragon quest 1 finished switch edition

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 02:23 AM PST

Now, I have played the dragon quest 1 before. I Played the game boy color version about 5 years ago. Since it's been 5 years from playing 1, I thought I go back to replay it. I admit I found 1 pretty forgettable. I still enjoyed the game a good deal and found it very cool to play. I think either I speed run the game that I forgot or something else. For my replay I thought I go and play DQ 1 on the switch. Now finishing it, got to say the game is still fun. Not as amazing as other DQ games but still solid. Not a fan of the switch art or the port. Felt very off to me. Felt slower to compared to the GBC version to me. Maybe by a second or two slower. Didn't make grinding unbearable thankfully. The switch port is not as good looking compared to other versions. Rather the port was the snes versions with some quality of life features. Not saying the switch version is the worst. Rather play the switch port over the nes dragon warrior any day. However, but I do feel the switch version loses a few thing in this version of the game. Anyways, I say DQ 1 was pretty fun and I'll be replaying in the future. It such a fun little jrpg to play when you want comfort. Next time I will play the snes version. If you played DQ 1, what's your thoughts on the game? Curious how people view the first game in a franchise we all love.

DQ XI Hard Difficulty Compared to Other Games in the Series?

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 05:43 PM PST

I've seen quite a few people recommend playing DQ XI on hard, or else it is too easy.

Is XI on hard around the same difficulty as VIII? That's a nice difficulty for my taste, but I wouldn't want too much more than that.

Question about PAL copies of DQV for Nintendo DS

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 04:26 PM PST

I just joined the sub to ask a question and your help is greatly apreciated. I've been thinking of getting DQV for the NDS but prices are through the roof. PAL copies for most games tend to come with many languages in a single cartridge but I don't know if this is also the case for DQV. Can anyone confirm?

    Thanks!
