DQ: your story is A LOVE LETTER to all DQ fans....

    Posted: 13 Feb 2020 11:47 PM PST

And people still are shitting on them because of some unexpected twist at the end?

By the way, that twist caught me totally by surprise and I couldn't be more happy with it.

My thoughts on Your Story ending.

    Posted: 13 Feb 2020 07:16 PM PST

I am seeing people not liking the ending of Dragon Quest Your Story and I can understand. Just wanted to give my two cents.

I started playing Dragon Quest because I was developing a heart condition and was bed rest. I played them because I didn't need to be fast to play them. DQ5 is my favorite video game of all time and most have beaten that game 10 times.

To me the ending reminded me how being sick, I could still have an adventure. How playing video games got me stop thinking I was sick just a little bit. The ending also reminded me how far I have come since then.

    So yeah, I liked it!

P.S. I am doing better now.

    DQ “Your” Story

It wasn't our story. It was Purrcy's and he had no business being that freakin cute. Great movie 7/10. That is all

I actually really loved the ending of Your Story

    Posted: 13 Feb 2020 10:16 PM PST

It was fun how they suggested little hints to the ending. Once I saw what was happening I was losing it lmao

    It's a fun watch. 9/10

Unpopular opinion: I didn't like the ending of your story

My somewhat interesting experience with Dragon Quest: Your Story

    Posted: 13 Feb 2020 06:19 PM PST

So I watched the movie on Netflix with my family as a family movie night thing where only I knew about the movies game origin and the twist which I read online.

While watching the movie, while I didn't think it was fantastic it was really nice to have a good moment with my family with something that I truly love especially my parents who aren't into games and don't really like that I am as big as a fan as I am.

My family really loved the world that was presented and the movie as a whole to the point that half way through it my mother asked me if they were making a sequel to it.

Then the twist happened and it did something that was somewhat special which it kinda gave context to my love of DQ and gaming as a whole. I have always loved games and the experiences they give but to many people (like my folks) they just see it as a time waster, but seeing how much another person albeit a fictional one give so much importance to even small things like the name of his Hero and big things like how the characters changed his life kinda gave context to things I have been saying for years about why I love gaming.

This is by no means a perfect movie and would I have preferred a perfect (albeit rushed) adaptation of Dragon Quest V, a thousand times yes but the movie gave me a really special moment with my family and I love it for that.

So, that ending of Dragon Quest Your Story

    Posted: 13 Feb 2020 10:26 PM PST

So, just watched the Dragon Quest Your Story movie, and as a big fan of 5, I loved the movie. It was incredibly beautiful, and the voice actors of the dub were great!

However, that ending felt kinda out of place. I understand the message, that it's saying how memories and experiences gained from video games are just as meaningful as those gained from real life, but I felt like how it was expressed was too jarring. The movie gave no hint or foreshadowing that the story was anything but just set in the dragon quest universe. If they perhaps made the world less beautiful and more game-like, or they added small glitches or things in the background, then the ending would make more sense, or at least be less jarring.

    Regarding Jessica's clothing

    Posted: 13 Feb 2020 08:48 PM PST

Does her low cut blouse suggest she isnt wearing any bra? Sorry for the weird question but i was looking at dq8 stuff for cosplay ideas and theres the random thought.

    Wondering about levels? [Spoilers]

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 03:39 AM PST

I'm right before The Fortress of Fear now, and I was wondering if my levels were up to scratch, because while Tatsunaga went down really quickly he hit like an absolute truck, so I was wondering if I'm underleveled with strong equipment or if I've accidentally built my team as strength over defense?

    Anyway these are my levels:
    11: 56
    Erik: 54
    Serena:51
    Sylvando: 53
    Jade: 52
    Rab: 53
    Hendrik: 54

Sorry if this is a terrible question I was just wondering because of the aforementioned Tatsunaga inst-killing characters in his three moves and also because compared to like Xenoblade I'm really underleveled for the endgame (like in 1 you'd be about 80 and in 2 around 70 (although in X you'd be early 50s as well so I dunno)

Anyway sorry but was wondering about this and how I could improve the team beforehand

    [OPINION] Dragon Quest: Your Story

[Spoiler for your story] Ok guys like, the ending wasn’t THAT bad

    Posted: 13 Feb 2020 05:27 PM PST

Ouod it have been better, yes, could it have been worse, YES. I liked the ending, especially it basically calling out people who are assholes to you for feeling a connection to the characters of video games. (Sidenote, if vr gets this immersive irl, this needs to happen, with the actual ending obv)

    [Opinion] Dragon Quest: Your Story

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 12:25 AM PST

Ladja(the villian) voice actor sounded some much like Mark Hamill's Joker I wish they would have casted him instead.

Would you recommend watching Dragon Quest: Your Story before playing Dragon Quest V?

    Posted: 13 Feb 2020 07:30 PM PST

Title says it all. I'm a newbie to the series, making my way through chronologically. (I'm almost done with DQ2 right now.)

Anyways, since I hear DQ5 has the best story in the series, it got me thinking. If I watch Dragon Quest: Your Story on Netflix, which I do have my eye on currently, would it still be worth it to play through DQ5 when I reach it? Does the movie spoil much in the game to make me no longer interested in playing through it? Or, should I skip the movie until I beat DQ5?
