    even after putting 100 hours into the ps4 version, the second i heard that beautiful ORCHESTRATED soundtrack after hearing basically a 100 hour midi loop i immediately got chills. I hope the series continues to find the success it deserves. Such a beautiful series.

    DQ5 TnT is non-cheesable

    SO im playing dq5 with Save states and I was playing on the TnT board. I tried to exploit a dice roll when I discovered that all of your rolls are decided when you start the board. Not a major discovery but I thought it was neat.

    As a fan of all the other entries in the series I picked up Dragon Quest 7 with high hopes, as I've heard great things about it from other fans and youtubers. But then I meet Ruff, my god. Every time he opens his god damn mouth I want to punch myself. I can't get over his design either, always riding on top of a wolf and with a dumbass smile across his face.

    I just don't get it, it's such a jarring design next to the rest of the series amazing character designs by Toriyama.

    can i please get advice on dqxi

    HI all

    so i first tried dq xi on ps4 with hard enemies and dropped it after kingsbarrow and going to the city there. the reason was that EVERY fight was 10 minutes long and felt like a boss encounter in which i would get killed 80% of the time

    i recently bought it again for the switch (actually got it free for ps4 so technically bought it once) and now i'm having the same problem. i don't like grinding for 10000 hours just to scrape by and have to do it aaaallll over again but i hear people say that normal is boring and easy

    i wanted to know if i should stick it out and if the difficulty with hard enemies because manageable and fair later or if i should go to normal

    normally i do well in JRPGS like persona 4, 5, etc. where i played on the higher difficulties

    (VIII) Best way to defeat metal slimes early?

    Those little shits keep getting on my nerve lmao. I'm at the Ruined Abbey and I've had about 5-6 encounters where I just couldn't do anything. I have Eight invested in Swords and Boomerangs, Yangus invested in axes, and Jessica invested in whips and staves.

    How can I defeat these early on? (My party is ~Lv13)

    main save files corrupted after 80 hours of gameplay (PC)

    i still didn't finish the game since i was grinding alot and my main save file got corrupted and i just got the orchilacum in the main story. is there anyway to salvage this because i seriously was in love with this game even after all the pc issues

    So it turns out there’s a symphonic sound option for XI

    I just played through until about a third of the way through Act 3 thinking that I had the symphonic sound option enabled, not realising I had accidentally disabled it near the beginning of act 1. The music sounds so much better now and now I'm sad that I've missed out on such a fantastic soundtrack while playing through the game the first game... music is a really big thing for me in games, being able to listen back to memorable tunes keeps me interested in games and I never really found the synthesised music particularly memorable.

    Don't make my mistake, make sure it's enabled for you.

    Edit: I'm actually crying now this is awful I'm so sad I missed out on this soundtrack. I just need to tell something to someone about this omg.

    First time dq player, should I use stronger monsters first time through DQ11?

    I am currently playing the demo, but bought the game and I have the choice of starting over or continuing from the demo. I am about 18 hours in (after cobblestone falls), and I love the game... but I am oneshotting every random encounter and every enemy. I haven't actively been grinding but I haven't even bought anything in the game, I have only crafted. Anyways, I have exhaustively looked through everything for every item and I refuse to use a guide and I feel the game is soooo captivating. With that said, I don't mind continuing where I left off in normal mode, I guess... I'm just concerned the game is too easy. I mean every battle I just tap A a couple times and then move on. I feel no threat. However I don't want it to be TOO hard either, I am using the game to get through some personal stuff in my life so if it's too hard it could just stress me out. Lol. Plus redoing 17 hours or so of content is a little disheartening.

    (TLDR;)In conclusion, should I restart 17 hours of gameplay for a harder monsters? Or just enjoy the game in normal mode for now? Does it get harder?

    Thank you!! And thank you to the whole subreddit that convinced me to buy this game, it is one of my favorite RPGs I have ever played already... I love love love it!!

    Hey all, anyone got any advice for someone who's in Act 3 and having loads of trouble getting the rare enemy required for this quest to spawn? It's really beginning to annoy me. I gave up on doing this in Act 2 (when the quest becomes available) precisely because I just felt like I was wasting my time. I have spent several hours trying to get one to spawn and the only benefit I'm seeing right now is the EXP I'm scoring by grinding off the Malicious Killing Machines in trying to get the required enemy to spawn. Is it just down to luck or am I doing something wrong?

    I saw a thread on this in the sub, but from what the person was saying I think they were still in Act 2- my situation is a little bit different as I'm in Act 3.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Which version of Dragon Quest 8 should I play: PS2 or 3DS?

    Hi all. New to the subreddit, longtime fan of DQ8 since I was a kid. I've been itching to play through the game again, but I'm not sure about which version to play. I know there are some QoL improvements to the 3DS version and added stuff like Red and Morrie, but the better graphics and orchestral soundtrack of the PS2 calls to me. So which one should I play? If it helps, I'd be playing them on either PCSX2 or Citra depending on which one I decide on, so either way it would be 1080p for both.

    Why do we call him “8th?” (DQ11) [Spoilers]

    Okay, so I know "8th" refers to Hendrik, but why do we say that? Is it to avoid spoiling people as "8th" joins up pretty far into the game?

    This isn't something that bothers me per se, but I am curious lol.

    I have a VPN connected to japan, I have a Japanese SE account (with a Japanese email) and downloaded DQXInstaller_ft, but when I open it, nothing happens, PLEASE HELP!!!!
