Dragon Quest IX - DQVC News

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 08:15 AM PDT

    Hi all,

After speaking with one of the developers for Wiimmfi, they have recently learned that the DQVC store offerings were not updating when using the Wiimmfi DNS 164.132.44.106 from the UK. He's actively fixing the problem, so, very soon the DQVC shop content will work the same as the US/JPN regions! I will gladly keep you all posted in the comments and/or edit this main post!

    Methods for accessing DQVC:

    [Android Method]

    [IOS Method]

We are actively discussing this in our DQ9 Discord Server

Dragon Quest Rivals appear on SteamDB files

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 07:31 AM PDT

There have been a recent EULA update and one of the new games revealed is Dragon Quest Rivals

    https://steamdb.info/app/1223840/

The EULA is japanese only so don't hold your hopes up for a translation but a PC release would be still nice

    Spells/magics in Dragon Quest III

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 08:20 AM PDT

So, I try to search something about this online (and in the sub as well), but couldn't find a very precise answer. I'm kinda new to the series, so the knowledge is very little on me: finished the first one at the beginning of the last year, but only started playing through the series after Hero's inclusion in Smash, for which I'm extremely grateful for letting me in these games. That being said, I finished the first one, IV and VIII and I'm currently playing through III and V.

But the thing is that I am founding spells/magics to be really useless in DQIII. IV and VIII, as well as in V (although not finished) I constantly used them (buff, debuff, healing, offensive, etc.). But in III except for very situational events (aka boss battles) they never hit the enemy, and basically a whip is dealing the same damage.

It could be that I missed some attribute stuff on my Mage, but if anyone could answer/help me, I would be extremely thankful.

(DQ XI S) What to do before going through the tower?

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 05:26 AM PDT

So, I have to go through the tower of lost time and I really don't know what to expect... Should I do something else before I go back in time? Reaching this tower was the first thing I did after defeating Mordegon but I noticed there were other exclamation points scattered around Erdrea. Should I make an extra save file?

The Dragon Quest: The First One

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 09:06 AM PDT

Sup, I started to play every DQ game, the original versions, in order to better understand the series as a whole. So first off, I played some games but I only completed 1 and 9 before starting doing this, so I'm not a total newcomer nor a veteran player.

I finished DQ1 today on the NES and... Well... Maaaan it was a quest all right. I think this game is a mixed bag with some awesome things and quite a few archaic and terrible things. Let's talk about it!

Graphics: This game doesn't look terrible for a the time it was made, I actually really enjoy the backgrounds in battles and the monster sprites are pretty good, although limited in numbers. The World Map feels barren but looks ok. The Towns are pretty sad to look at and super small (Humanity is almost extinct I see, the total popolation of the world is maybe 40 people?). I really like the menus, simple though effective. Ah also, the text font is nice.

Sounds: Ehhhhhhhhhh... Like ok, the few tracks that are here sound nice, the world map theme is calm, the castle theme is awesome, the town theme too, the battle theme doesn't not though, it's boring, repetitive, and I kind of turned off the volume during grinding sessions. And the cave theme, fuck the cave theme horrible. The sounds effects are perfect and it's not surprising that all of them stuck around (I love the level up jingle and the win jingle)

Gameplay: It's too simple, too much. The exploration is fine, talking to people is actually more useful than I thought (I played without any guide this time, the first time I used one and skipped most dialogue, bad choice) with the exception of the Wall of Darkness which trolled me for some hours in thinking going south west too early. The fights are fun at first but become a simple spam fest, with the occasional healing and hurt, and rare stopspell, which became really tedious also because of the sloooooooooooowness, man this game is sooooo slow and made a good half of it a bad experience of boredom. This is not helped by the amount griding required to do stuff, I beat the game at level 21, after a 3 hour grind session, listening to podcasts because I got bored of Hurtmoreing Star Wyverns.

Story: Pretty meh, it's cool that the princess is not mandatory (though I saved her cause her love helps finding that token)

In conclusion, a meh start. I know that in the past it might have been better but compared to any other jrpg, more or less, it's a dry and somewhat boring game. I hope DQ2 is gonna be more fun.

So what are your thoughs about DQ1? I'd like to discuss every one's experience!

    Help on dragon quest vi

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 04:07 AM PDT

I'm currently at the chautteu the sass if that matters. But I went back to scrimsly to get Amos because I remembered him and got the seeds of reason. When I got back to scrimsly he was gone and everyone in town said he ran. I'm sure this happened because I told him he was a monster but where do I find him? Or is he gone forever?

Will Dragon Quest ever come to Xbox?

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 04:00 PM PDT

Any rumours regarding this? I find it weird that Square Enix has Final Fantasy on Xbox (and gamepass) but I can't play the newest Dragon Quest on my console despite every other platform having it.

Do you think this could change in the future??

    DQXI post game question..

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 11:00 AM PDT

So, I beat Mordegon and am now in the post game section. I was excited for the extra content and to get the chance to finish all my side quests. But...

The Tower Of Lost Time? They seriously want me to...go back in time and do all this all over again? With my friends memories of this timeline gone? That actually sounds horrible to me. That sounds like a tedious and bad idea.

So my question is, how worth it is it to play through that? Is it a whole new story line? Or is it just essentially new game+? Do I go back if I want new content, or if I just wanna play again?

    999 stats

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 01:08 AM PDT

This post will explain how far you could get with all your stats maxed

I have 1429hrs in this game and I'm on pc hence the code editing stuff.

    1. This will take a very long time to do if you play the game normally and don't modify the code for drops

    2. It's not practical as it makes you seriously overpowered

So onto the main point if you was to max the main characters stats completely you would be able to get into post game with just the main character (no other character is needed) im not sure how you would handle Calasmos but im sure it's possible, this is with or without draconian although it requires a bit of rng for some bosses. Getting through act 2 was a breeze fullheal became the best spell in the game or if you have 2 miracle swords then I doubt you would even need fullheal. Or maybe these two would make you virtually invincible if you don't miss a turn ofc.

    1. This will not affect any of my other saves in this otherwise great game i immediately reverted the code changes so now I have a save with just the main character and no other

    2. To achieve the main character on their own i just set the max health of the other characters to 0 which prevents them from being resurrected/used at all.

    3. The save I posted about a few months back where I maxed out the defeated monster counter for the brownie isn't even halfway done yet, this is the save where I'm trying to max my entire party legitimately, I have a feeling its gonna take me upwards of 4k hrs to totally max my party the seed of Deftness and pretty betsys will take the most time to get and distribute.

    4. The max amount of hrs that the game will show on a save is 999.59 which is a shame.

    Does This ever get explained?

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 01:15 PM PDT

I'm playing Dragon Quest XI currently and it's the first one I've ever played. I'm progressing through it fine, but I'm curious about one little thing, The little dissappearing ghost things around the world. I thought first maybe it's a Dragon Quest thing but...

Slight spoiler I assume they have something to do with time travel Does the game eventually explain what these things are? Don't spoil please.

    DQ11 PS4 for DQ11 Switch

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 06:31 PM PDT

Please delete this if inappropriate for this sub.

Would anyone be willing to trade their Switch copy of DQ11 for my PS4 copy? I have more time to play switch games due to its portability than I do PS4. However my fiance, the more money minded person in the relationship, thinks that rebuying a game i haven't had time to play is a waste of money. And I couldn't do this at a Gamestop as I'd get like 5$ which could not buy a new copy. I'm very excited to actually play all the way through this game.

If this is a bad place to post this, feel free to point me towards a better sub. Thanks in advance guys!
