DQ7 - was anyone else deeply disappointed by the ruins in the remake? Posted: 25 Jun 2020 10:17 AM PDT DQ7 is my favorite DQ game, so I was bound to be picky about changes in the remake. When I was younger and playing the PlayStation version, though, the ruins were just so atmospheric and kind of creepy, even down to the music, the perfect way to set the mood for the game. Having to solve the puzzles to open the ruins and the sound of stone grating on stone as your character wanders through this lonely place, the design, everything... Chef's kiss and now I play and there's this cute little cat dude spelling it all out for me. The atmosphere of the ruins is completely obliterated. That said, I think they did a good job with the different worlds/islands, though. [link] [comments]

Struggling with Booga+Making my Party Stronger (Dragon Quest 11, Switch) Posted: 25 Jun 2020 07:51 AM PDT So this is my 1st run of DQ 11 and i have just been focused on leveling up, maxing out my skill trees, and attemping to save money. I have been forging and reforging weapons to make them stronger but it seems like i need to focus more on forging and get better at it due to some issues i am having. I am currently at Chapter 10 during my 3rd Octagonia visit, I beat Jinxed jade no problem but Booga was a different story lol i spent the ENTIRE fight losing turns to healing and curing party members of ailments, so i realized i CAN'T run DQ11 like a default RPG/JRPG. I have been playing RPGs/JRPGs since i was a kid and i always just focused on exp farming, money farming, and skill farming. This is the 1st game i had to find materials, forge weapons/armor/accessories, and i can tell it DEFINETLY makes or breaks your battle exp. I need some advice on how i should proceed to beef up my party with weapons, armor, accessories, and skills to beat booga and for the remainder of the game. Here are my stats as it stands right now ( I dont have all my party members atm): Hero Lvl 47 Weapon: Demonsbane+3 Armor: iron headgear, heavy armor+2 acc: care ring+2,gold bracer+3 33 Skill Points avail: Greatsword completed, Swords 4/10,Swordmastery 3/10, luminary (JUST got that back) 0/25 Hendrik Lvl 43 Weapon: Wyrmfang+3 Armor: iron headgear, magic armor acc: care ring+3,torc of truth 3 Skill Points avail: Greatsword completed, Swords 2/9, shields 2/9, axes 2/9, heroism 0/9 Rab Lvl 42 Weapon: spirit staff+1 Armor: mag hat, wiz robe acc: torc of truth 9 Skill Points avail: heavy wands completed, claws 0/19, elightenment 4/22 Sylvando Lvl 43 Weapon: aurora blade+3 Armor: mag shield, scholars cap, plat mail acc: gold bracer+1 x2 29 Skill Points avail: swords 7/9, knives 6/8, whips 0/9, lithness 2/9, and showmanship 0/8 ATM these are my stats, i have been focused on attempting to exp farm metal and possessed enemies for more exp to get more skill points so i can exp farm once i get my party back together. Gold: 40K in the bank and 38K on hand. Right now looking for any weapons, armor, and forging advice i can get to beat booga and stregthen my party as they stand right now. Thanks in advance [link] [comments]

Life Lessons Series: DQ teaches you to beware of deception. Spoilers 1-6. Posted: 24 Jun 2020 07:55 PM PDT In DQ 1 the Dragonlord tries to get you to join him but then you die there are also cursed items to put on, but with a name like 'cursed belt' it's your own fault. In DQ 2 the princess has been turned into a dog and the final castle is hidden in illusion In DQ 3 the shop keepers in Ashalam try to overcharge you for items. The Orochi and Boss Troll are masquerading as leaders. And the final castle has hidden stairs to the boss In DQ4, it's been too long since I last played. Pretty sure there's a dungeon where you have to face monsters impersonating your friends. In DQ5 the monster in the mountain temple tries to get you to believe it's your mom and the villagers of Hay send you off to fight your sabercat friend even though he hasn't harmed anyone Plus that guy outside the ship casino tries to get you to hand over money for nothing. DQ 6 the boss monster just erases whole parts of the world to keep any heros from even having the chance of getting strong enough to defeat him and one smart group of monsters trick people to get on a one-way ride to being the main course at a monster banquet The moral of the story is, watch out for deception. If it sounds/looks too good to be true, trust your instincts. Having an NPC at your side can make the battles easier too. I'm pretty sure my dog was a Merchant/Thief/Gadabout because his skills were: [link] [comments]
Dragon Quest V - Screwed myself over and can't progress Posted: 25 Jun 2020 03:18 AM PDT I'm playing it on the DS and i've passed the point when i had to figure out which Queen was the real one by using the mirror, i killed the boss with some difficulty because i didn't have the wagon (i skipped that part). I only had the older brother in my party and the main character. And that is my issue, after killing the boss i checked a walkthrough online and saw that i skipped that part, went back, got my wagon then sailed to Lodestar Harbour. Now i'm in Lodestar Harbour and i keep dying in most of the encounters because i have no monsters in my party, i only have the main character and he's only level 15. I checked online and the monsters i'm encountering are not recruitable or have a ridiculously low recrution rate. Is there any way to go back to the other continent ? When i talk to the guy in front of the boat he says he can't take me back, so i'm stuck. I already put 6 hours into this save and i really don't want to restart. Is there anything i can do to get some monsters or any way i can move to the previous continent ? I'm kind of at a loss here Thanks for reading. [link] [comments]
I made a Dragon Quest Anime Opening! Posted: 24 Jun 2020 12:54 PM PDT So I recently got into Dragon Quest trough Smash Bros and wanted to try one of the games, so I bought DQ; XI and so far I love it. Since I am a weeb and it kinda has an anime style to it I wondered if there were any fan-made anime openings to it but I found only one, so I decided to try to make one myself using the song Departure! Thought it turned out pretty good. :) [link] [comments]
DQ XI Switch: Fuck my life what a waste of time Posted: 25 Jun 2020 05:43 AM PDT I'm over 40 hours in, fighting the Act 2 boss Booga and JUST not realized before you start a fight you can go into settings and make the battle animations go from normal to fast to super fast. SOOOO much grinding time could have been done SOOO much faster [link] [comments]

Is there a way to make the movement circle in DQ1 mobile smaller? Posted: 24 Jun 2020 02:01 PM PDT I'm interested in trying out DQ1 and I've heard the mobile port is the best way, but I'm not fond of the large circle substitute for the d-pad. Is there a way to make it smaller or move it to the side? [link] [comments]

Metal monsters and skills *Possible Spoilers* Posted: 24 Jun 2020 07:33 PM PDT So you find a metal monster. You use Dirge to put it to sleep. In the mean time you use Divide. Now that the metal is asleep, you use persecutter. Assuming you hit 3 times, that would be 18 damage, yes? Trying to be a bit vague to avoid spoiling much... [link] [comments]
Dqx English speaking community Posted: 24 Jun 2020 03:23 PM PDT I just downloaded dqx on my switch using my Japanese account. I'm wondering if anyone can help me find an English speaking community. Maybe there's a server with more English speakers than usual? [link] [comments]
