Finally picked up XI S on Nintendo Switch... a few pointers please Posted: 29 Sep 2020 05:29 AM PDT I've been waiting for this moment for a full year at this point. I finally picked up DQXI S on sale for £28 on the EU Store and I'm really happy with this price after debating dropping full retail on this title since launch. So I played the demo up until The Kingsbarrow, it's been a while since I played the demo but my character feels super underlevelled here, dying after two or three enemies met within the crypt. Thought I'd turn to Reddit for a few suggestions. Do I go back and grind? Where should I go to level up from here? I'm thinking of reverting to a previous save instead of a checkpoint within The Kingsbarrow. I'd be grateful for any pointers, slightly out of the loop with this game since playing Persona 5 Royal. Thanks! [link] [comments]
What's the best dragon quest game to start with? Posted: 29 Sep 2020 08:44 AM PDT I've been trying to play dragon quest, since dragon quest 11 is coming to xbox and it's on gamepass, so i will play the game on december, but what's the best dragon quest to start with? [link] [comments]
[DQ11 mild skill spoilers] Discussion regarding Erik... Posted: 29 Sep 2020 05:17 AM PDT What's your favorite other ability to pair with Divide in battle? So far, I find twomarang+divide to be hilarious in terms of the sheer number of damage bubbles that pop up. [link] [comments]

Dragon Quest 9 is severely underrated Posted: 29 Sep 2020 11:17 AM PDT Dragon quest 9 was actually my first DQ game on the ds, I was really unfamiliar with DQ so I thought I would give the game a try, and surprise I actually enjoyed it a lot. I found myself replaying it over and over it helps that your able to customize your character and your party members so that adds Loren variety to replaying it. But as the years went on DQ 9 really has gotten unappreciated over the years and not a lot of people talk about the game as much. You'll everybody else talk about other DQ games but rarely DQ 9. It makes me sad because this game was basically my childhood and I remember spending hours on it. It's sad that not a lot of people talk about this game as much as the other games get talked about. I got a question, Spoilers for Post Game (DQXI) Posted: 29 Sep 2020 10:56 AM PDT Hello, I had a question about the final, final boss, Calasmos. How exactly do I beat it? I'm on a draconian quest where all enemies are tougher and lower level enemies drops less exp, or none at all. I'm almost to the point where every enemy drops no experience, and I'm not sure what to do [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Sep 2020 05:51 AM PDT The fact that you have to redistribute all the skill points every time someone leaves and reenters your party as part of the story. Hendrick and Erik being the two biggest culprits. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Sep 2020 06:35 AM PDT I was absolutely loving DQXI on the Switch—the characters were likable, the presentation was glorious, the world was bristling with personality, and the classic-style gameplay was perfect for what I was looking for. Until now. I'm about fifty hours into the game, I've finished Act 1 and I'm fighting the Gloomnivore underneath Dundrasil. But somewhere after finishing that first act, I seem to have lost close to all interest in the game. The individual character stories were a slog and it's been cutscene after cutscene after cutscene for the last ten hours. Whenever you get some freedom to play on your own and control the adventure the game pulls you back into its thread and forces itself on you. So since the end of Act 1, I feel like I've just been watching one long cutscene. I'm not enjoying the game the same as I had been, which is a shame because above all else I was loving this game—for the first fifty hours, it was close to being my favorite game on Switch. Any opinions? What happened? Does it get better? If something isn't clicking for me right now is it worth putting in the time until it does? [link] [comments]
What DQ game requires the most grinding? Posted: 28 Sep 2020 11:55 PM PDT I've only played a handful (1, 2, 5, 9, and 11) and I'm currently playing 3. And 3 has been kind of frustrating for me haha. I feel like I'm constantly grinding but also constantly dying. So I'm curious, what DQ games do you think require the most grinding? What games have made you the most frustrated? Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken starts in less than 4 days Posted: 28 Sep 2020 11:58 PM PDT Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken starts in less than 4 days and has no simulcast yet in a lot of countries, and it does not look like there's a lot of hype around it. I was thinking Square Enix would make a big push on this one because of all the merchandising and games. [link] [comments]
Some advice on where to start? Posted: 28 Sep 2020 10:28 PM PDT Ive been in the mood for some turn based rpg fun times and figured I'd pop my DQ cherry. I've looked through the FAQs, flowcharts, reviews and rankings, and I've narrowed it down to 5, 8 and 11 since those are almost unanimously the most praised. I remember trying the demo for 11 and not being super thrilled by the "spins" put on the combat: I want some real simple turn based combat with some likable characters. Based on that, what game would you recommend? [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Sep 2020 03:49 PM PDT I just saw Dragon Quest: Your Story and it made me wanna replay DQV, does anyone have any creative challenge run idea? I've already done Humans Only, so not that. If there was a no exp cheat I could actually try that LOL, but idk otherwise [link] [comments]
Favorite moment of Dragon Quest V? Posted: 28 Sep 2020 10:53 AM PDT Yesterday was the 28th anniversary of Dragon Quest V, one of the most unique games I have ever played. My favorite moment is when you, your son, and your daughter, along with others, rescued your wife and the whole family reunites. What was your favorite Dragon Quest V moment? [link] [comments]
