    Games to fill the DQ11 shaped hole in my heart?

    Dragon Quest 11 is far and away my and my partner's favorite game, and im looking for more. More than anything I'm here for the characters and their relationships. But even as dark as 11 goes, there's always some level of hope and humor woven in, and while it will absolutely Go There, it doesn't do it in ways that are too gratuitous or graphic?

    I've had Persona 5 recommended a lot, and while I would love to play it eventually, it sounds like it gets pretty deep into some topics that are a little too grim for me just now. (Largely trigger wise. My partner and i are both abuse survivors, and while in a good situation we can roll with stories about that kind of thing just fine, this year has got is worn too thin emotionally.)

    I can handle feelings, so long as things end well, and ideally we don't get too big into racism or abuse? Are there any just... optimistic, or light games you can recommend? DQ8, Dark Cloud 2, and Chrono Trigger were kind of the closest in spirit I've played, and i loved them all, but I hunger for more.

    Whats the point of knives?

    Ive been saving up to get Erik Dual Wield to dual wiedl knives before learning you can also dual wield swords, i thought it was just Knives. So- knives do less damage then swords, dont have any particular advantage over swords, frequently dont even add Deftness or Agility like i thought they would... Whats the point? Why would i ever use a knife?

    So, I'm scouring the landscape for anything to avoid leaving anything behind before the jump through the Tower of Time, and I notice that Helidor Castle shows 4 Treasures left on the Bottom Floor. Strangely, ONLY on the Bottom Floor, the other floors say 'nothing left'.

    And I've scraped every corner of it. More than once.

    So, question - that blocked-off hallway and blocked-off room, are they where the 4 remaining treasures are hidden, and "Nose for Treasure" is picking them up, even though it's impossible to access them right now? I know it detects stuff behind Ultimate/Magic Key doors, but didn't think it would do that for stuff literally impossible to access that you can't even guess the existence of.

    DQM on Mobile

    Has anyone played the Dragon Quest Monsters games on Mobile? Is it worth jumping through all the hoops to check them out, or would one be better off waiting (probably in vain) to see if they get English versions? I'm more than happy to buy them and even to play in Japanese it's just so hard to get to them legally. Region locking suuuuucks

    Am I crazy for wanting to play DQ5 original and it's DS remake?

    I recently spent and hour with both games and found them deeply charming and fun in their own way. I think I may in fact just want to play both, starting with the original and trying the remake after some time has passed.

    This isn't even getting into the PS2 remake which also has a translation patch! The game just seems great all around, I can understand why it's so popular in Japan.

    So look. Do people unironically think the story in dq11 is good? Because, and I'm not hating on anyone's Opinion, I feel it's the worst out of all the dq games I've played by far. At least up to the "final boss" in the giant floating castle. I've played 1,4,5,&9 so far and am working on 8 and out of all of those 11 just feels so lacking in characters. Maybe it's just because they're so stereotypical in 11. Idk. It just didn't grab me the way it seems to have other people. And the big bad is literally just generic evil bad guy #317 who is evil Bc he is evil as far as I can tell. Is there more in the post game that makes it all worth going through the effort of beating him? Because I got to him and then just stopped playing. I'm not looking for spoilers. Just something that will make me push through his fight to get to the post game

    Sylvando's role?

    Just got Sylvando, and am confused on what role he is supposed to fill. Luminary is just the MC/all around, Erik is the 'Thief', Veronica is the Mage, Serena is the Healer, Sylvando is...? He just seems to be a mix of every other pre existing member, not really excelling at one thing but able to do anything. For refference everyone else is level 14 and he is level 15 and i havent bought him any other equitment other then the stuff he came here with. Is he meant to be a bard-esque 'buff the allies' type? I thought Serena/Veronica would eventually fill that role as they leveled up

    What is the best place to farm pre calasmos DQXI also what is the slime crown used for?
