Dragon Quest 11 S Spoiler Cast? Posted: 02 Sep 2020 08:17 AM PDT So I just completed the game last night at a bit over 120 hours. I absolutely adored the game and am sad it's over. I'd really love to hear some discussions on the game but there is a distinct lack of Spoilercasts out there. Does anyone know of any? Podcasts, YouTube, whatever? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Dragon Quest III-- Did I Miss Something? Posted: 02 Sep 2020 09:02 AM PDT Past few months I've been playing through the series for a few months now (just finished IV), and as I was nearing III, I was excited to get to that game, having heard and read from many fans that it's one of, if not the best game in the series. Then I got to it and my feelings throughout the game were a resounding... meh. Obviously gameplay-wise it's a solid game (one of the things I admire about this franchise is its unapologetic consistency). But in terms of "the experience," I found it lacking. I will say that it was neat seeing the first appearance of several of the series' staples, like the mini medals, or the flying mount (accompanied by that majestic music that XI later reused). But a huge mark against the game for me is the fact that the party are more or less mannequins. I did appreciate seeing the introduction of many of the classic DQ classes in this game like the Thief, Martial Artist, etc., but that was the extent of their uniqueness. Technically they all had personalities but it was purely "tell, don't show," where I could see the personality each party member supposedly has when I select them on the menu, yet none of it ever shines through in anything they do or say (in the rare occasion when one of them does say something) over the course of the adventure. A huge part of the RPG experience for me is that forging of a bond with my companions in the fires of battle and hardship and getting to know them as people. But with III I didn't feel any connection to my party like I did with Cannock and Moonbrooke, or my seven fellow Chosen in IV, or especially with my companions in XI. And this actually doesn't only apply to my party members; thinking back, I can't think of a single character in that game that I actually cared about or had any feelings about. Honestly I think the best character in that entire game was probably Robbin Ood, who felt more like an archnemesis to the Hero than Baramos or Zoma ever did and actually underwent legit character development. So I just wanted to hear from longer time fans who love III, what are the things that resonated with you? Is it just a matter of different tastes? Did I miss or overlook something crucial in my playthrough that would've made it far more enjoyable? Did I just go into the game looking for or expecting something that it was never designed to deliver? I'm genuinely curious about the appeal of this game, and I know it's clearly a great game despite my own experience because a game doesn't achieve that level of widespread love and admiration without being an objectively high-quality game. I just want to know what those qualities are. [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Sep 2020 08:43 AM PDT What level should I be to fight the green dragon? I know its an older game, but I tried once and got destroyed, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. [link] [comments]

DQ XI - Just getting going on Act 3 and... Posted: 01 Sep 2020 01:43 PM PDT I really miss super Serena! She was amazing at the end of Act 2. So far I feel like Act 3 has certainly taken away from all the characters personalities, all the things they go through before the first end, I am head canoning it as an alternate reality, Act 2 is the 'true' end in my head. But in terms of gameplay Serena and Veronica's abilities in one was really good! [link] [comments]
Having trouble deciding between Dragon Quest 8 or 9. Posted: 01 Sep 2020 07:56 PM PDT Hello everyone. Just recently upgraded from a 2ds to a new 2ds xl, and I'm looking to buy a Dragon Quest game for it. The only DQ games I've played are 11 S and 3 for gbc. I'm tempted by the class system of 9, as I'm a sucker for job systems in RPGs. But I can't deny that I loved the ps2 era of jrpgs, FFX being my first jrpg when I was a kid. I'm hoping you fine people can help convince me of one or the other. I'm not too fussed about 9 being for the original DS as opposed to the 3ds. [link] [comments]

DQ11 - How viable is it to play only the main quest? Posted: 01 Sep 2020 07:30 PM PDT I understand some may have a strong reaction against such a question. But if you're willing to oblige me, how viable is it to play this game with the following rules:

Posted: 01 Sep 2020 01:20 PM PDT I am just loving dragon quest 11. I usually don't have the patience to platinum games but I've got the completionist itch on this one. Currently hunting all the targets and filling in side quests. Which trophies were the hardest for you guys and do you have any tips? [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Sep 2020 12:15 PM PDT So far I've beaten 4, 8 and 11. Loved all a whole ton. I've heard a lot of mixed things about this one? Is it worth a go through, or should I just skip it? [link] [comments]
I can't beat the trial of harma Posted: 01 Sep 2020 05:22 PM PDT I'm on the final trial and can't get past it cause she keeps summoning enemys. Can anyone give some good advice to help. [link] [comments]
DQ XI skill/dual wielding in relation to secondary effects Posted: 01 Sep 2020 04:43 PM PDT Trying to figure out how some of the obscure mechanics work. Can secondary effects on weapons (statuses, etc) trigger when using skills? To add to the question, I know when dualwielding the second hit is just a normal attack with reduced damage, does an effect on the offhand weapon also have a chance to proc when using skills? This is for DQXI. [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Sep 2020 02:19 PM PDT I've only gone as far as defeating the "boss" that guards the entrance. Wondering if I should farm more metal slimes or press onward. Serena Lv. 55 Hendrik Lv. 59 Rab Lv. 59 Sylvando Lv. 60 Jade Lv. 60 Luminary Lv. 61 Erik Lv. 61 [link] [comments] |
