    Getting Hayao Miyazaki Vibes [DQ11]

    Posted: 13 Feb 2021 12:45 AM PST

I just beat Dragon Quest 11 S after not playing a DQ game since the very first one 30 years ago.

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 04:34 PM PST

I was absolutely amazed at how fantastic the whole game is. The story is probably one of the best I have experienced in a video game - possibly ever. I was not prepared for it to be this good.

I started playing it on Xbox gamepass as something fun and whimsical my kids could watch me play. I always liked playing jrpgs and I was just about in the mood to start a new one. I wasn't expecting anything too engrossing as I had just thought DQ games were sort of simplistic. Maybe because of the art style.

Experiencing the game with my kids was an extra special experience. They loved the characters, the music, and the silly monsters. When we weren't playing the game, they hummed the battle music as they played with each other and drew luminary tattoos on their hands.

While they rightfully enjoyed these parts of the game, I was really enthralled with how the story was unfolding. Especially once you get to the third act. The story is so layered and nuanced, I was genuinely left in awe on occasions as the different pieces began falling into place. The whole thing is incredibly memorable. It is one of those games you almost wish you could experience again for the first time.

We just finished the true finale after about 99 hours of the game. I just wish I could shake someone's hand who worked on this game and tell them how incredible the experience had been.

Since I can't shake anyone's hand, I just had to get my feelings out here. I am so grateful for such a fantastic and positive gaming experience. I will be playing this game again someday.

Clip of Jessica from a new trailer for the Japanese Dragon Quest Dai arcade card game. There are clips of other characters, but I thought I would just post the only important one.

Help with Tickington: A Rosy Revelation quest

    Posted: 13 Feb 2021 09:26 AM PST

I beat the neverglade before and completed the fairy quest, but when I came back for the Rosy quest, no monsters are popping up for me. I can activate holy protection, and it disappears a little while later, so it's not because of that. Anyone know what's happening?

    Is Dragon Quest XI grindy?

    Posted: 13 Feb 2021 08:51 AM PST

I just bought the definitive edition for PS4 but I'm terrified that I'll have to grind. I know that it has a super fast battle feature which I will love.

Is Dragon quest 5 hard or i need to grind?

    Posted: 13 Feb 2021 03:40 AM PST

After getting the wagon and going into the new land i have been dying a lot and i have the best equipment i have at the moment i suppose it is because your supposed to have monsters but i battled a lot not a single monster tried to join my party not even the weakest of them

So apparently I'm "overleveled" but tbh the current enemies I'm supposed to be on par with are killing my party members pretty consistently. I don't want to shoot myself in the foot in regards to job levels but I want to be able to progress through the game too. Any advice or help?

Does dragon quest 11 run well on the switch ?

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 08:30 PM PST

I heard great things about this game and how it's on the Nintendo switch , it is said that DQ11 is one of the best RPGs on the switch but the question is, how well does it run ? Comparing the switch to the ps4, Will DQ11 on the switch look and run worse or just as good as the PS4 ? I have both and can't really decide which version to get, the Portability/convince of the switch or the superior hardware of the PS4, which version should I buy

    I really wish the 3D Dragon Quest 11 3DS version wasn't lost.

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 08:46 PM PST

I really enjoyed Dragon Quest 7 3DS. The graphics are just superb and I feel they really streamlined a long game into... a still extremely long game, but not one where I ever stalled out. I devoured it. I was excited to play Dragon Quest 11 on the 3DS when it was first announced, but you all know what happened there.

And in Dragon Quest 11 I've just gone back to Galenholm (my least favourite dungeon of Dragon Quest 1 where I got lost as a kid, no more torches, death warped out, then got yelled at by my mom for doing so). And it looks great like that in 2D. But, that small style 3D is something I also want to experience the game as. The few videos on Youtube the small style 3D is a very interesting and cute look. And it's just silly that you travel to Dragon Quest 8 in 2D!

I'm just ranting I just like the 3DS small style 3D look and I was excited that Dragon Quest 11 3DS was made but I'm a little upset we'll never get to experience it and that Square-Enix didn't do anything more with it.

I just bought the cheat sheet from octogonia and I don't know how to use it. I'm playing the game on switch if that's of any help.

Is there a percent chance to landing a hit on a metal slime or is it random?

    Posted: 13 Feb 2021 01:01 AM PST

I'm sure it's different for every dragon quest game and maybe different for different version of metal slimes, but is it the case of the stronger the hero the better the chances or does it stay feeling completely random?

Wondering which game(s) I should get

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 11:24 PM PST

I'm on a DQ binge right now and I've got $110 to spend. I'm really interested in V, VIII, and IX so I was wondering if I should buy VIII and IX or just V. Thanks in advance.
