My Experience W/ Dragon Quest XI So Far Posted: 23 Feb 2021 10:38 PM PST "So, I just climbed a mountain. Guess that means I should get a job now? "Actually, you have a job. You're Jesus." "Wait. What?" "Yeah, and you should go tell the King. He loves that type of shit." Cut to castle. "Uuu...I think I'm here to see the King?" "Fuck off" "I'm Jesus." "Come right in." Cut to Throne Room "So, I'm pretty sure I'm-" "Yeah, yeah, you're Jesus. How do you know?" "Someone told me." "And why did you come here?" "Someone told me." "Good enough for me. Throw this cunt in jail! I hate Jesus." "Ah shit." Cut to prison "Hey newbie, what are you in for?" "Apparently, I'm Jesus and the king hates Jesuses." "No shit! I love Jesus. Let's break out of jail!" "Thanks for the help, but why do you believe me?" "Someone told me." "And why are you helping me?" "Someone told me." With a story this gripping, I should rent out the seat of my chair because right now I'm only using the edge. [link] [comments]

Dragon Quest Trading Card Game Posted: 24 Feb 2021 06:44 AM PST I recently found out that there is Dragon Quest cards and I'm interested in knowing more about it (I search info but most of it is in japanese) so I wanted to see if someone here would know something about it. I know there is 3 series (I think they're different games), and the most recent one is called Dragon Quest Trading Card Game which is the one I want to know about because I don't think I could get older cards. I want to know how many products there are of the last series, and if there is still working or not. Any kinda of webpage or forum with information is also fine for me, even japanese places (I can't search for info and start translating every webpage I find hoping the information is there, but I don't mind translating it if someone tell me where to look). Thanks [link] [comments]

Posted: 23 Feb 2021 08:42 PM PST I love the games, but I dont understand sticking with the silent MC choice in the newer games while still having the MC be designed and locked a specific way. I know that silent MCs are supposed to help with immersion, but for me it's always been less immersive in story driven games where I can't customize my character and the plot only advances the same way every time. These aren't choice narrative games, they tell a specific story, which I also love so I'm not criticizing. I guess it's just weird to me because I don't self insert, I'm playing a story, and when the main character responds to direct questions and crazy world shaking events with silent nods and facial expressions it really throws me off. And when I do self insert into a game it still throws me off. I wouldn't silently stare and vaguely gesture to people instead of just using words. Just wondering if I'm the odd man out here. Thoughts On DQ Modern Monsters Games? Posted: 24 Feb 2021 03:56 AM PST I've been playing a bit of Terry Wonderland 3D and Monsters Joker 3. Also tried Joker 1 and 2 last year but haven't gotten very far. My current thoughts are: Joker 1 - the best one out of them all, in my opinion. Fantastic atmosphere of adventure which is like a blend of Dragon Quest and Dragon Ball (original with tournaments). Joker 2 - still good but moves more towards sci-fi which turned me off. Battles and everything else seemed good. Joker 3 - I'm 8 hours in and I very much dislike the heavy sci-fi setting. Story is kind of fun but I'm a little uncomfortable with all main characters being those tall-leg monsters. Gameplay is probably the best one in the series, though I feel like something is wrong with battle speed: if I go with regular speed - it feels like slow-motion, if I turn on X2 speed - it's too fast. Also feel like the progression is too clumsy - you leve up monsters too fast, there are too many skills and skill points. Coming from DQ VIII, this feels confusing and not fun. Terry Wonderland 3D - probably the worst one? I have no nostalgia for the original Terry Wonderland. Story is cute when it's there but you know, not much of it... Dungeons are boring and repetitive, not enough monsters, battles are too slow and music gets annoying fast. There's also Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Cobi and Tara's Marvelous Mysterious Key remake on 3DS currently being translated by fans. Your thoughts? I'm currently deciding what to do with Joker games. I enjoy them to an extent but haven't been able to get more than 10 hours out of each. They get kind of repetitive and I don't like the grinding for monsters very much. It's fine when you have 8-12 of them but since monsters are reset with each fuse, it just feels like things are taking forever. [link] [comments]

[DQX] Is there a way to permanently change my race? Posted: 24 Feb 2021 04:49 AM PST I'm not talking about swapping between human and the chosen race, infact I wanna change from weddie to pukuripo. I am aware of the item that temporarily morph you, but needless to say it's not what I'm looking for. I heard on the guild that SE never added a paid service about this, but it was one voice to say that and honestly would be very stupid for an mmo to not have such feature, this can be easily confirmed by looking at literally every other mmo on the market. How necessary is grinding in Act 3 on Normal Difficulty? Posted: 23 Feb 2021 09:32 PM PST Just hit Act 3 with no Draconian difficulty and finished unlocking all of my character's old abilities/talents. I'm currently about level 50 across the board, and am curious if that is enough to handle the final boss for the True Ending? I've enjoyed the fact that I haven't really had to grind any levels thus far and am a bit concerned that I may have to take a few hours away from normal gameplay to catch up on things to have a chance at finishing the game. Does Dragon Quest III require that I grind? (*Spoilers*) Posted: 23 Feb 2021 07:07 PM PST I think it might because of the huge difficulty spike going up against the damn fucking trolls after you destroy the volcano with the Mountain Cleaver. Anyone here know what I am talking about? [link] [comments]

DQ11 Skills: Must invest skill points in mutually exclusive trees to unlock hidden skills? Posted: 23 Feb 2021 12:49 PM PST Hi everyone. Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm new to the DQ series and am running into a design choice that seems really strange. I'm a ways into Act 2 of DQ11. I just made it back to Arboria and have gotten the band back together. It's at this point when most party members have unlocked the second iteration of their skill trees that I'm running into what seems like a very odd design choice. There are several hidden skills that seem to require investment in mutually exclusive skill trees to unlock. For instance, the 8th character has a hidden shield skill that is unlocked by purchasing two specific skills in Greatswords and two specific skills in shields. But it isn't possible to use a Greatsword and a shield together, so this seems like just a tax to unlock an advanced skill? I realize that in the above case I might be able to unlock the skill and then respec greatswords to work around this, but that doesn't always seem to be the case. Erik, for instance, has a skill that negates the damage penalty of using a weapon in his off hand when duel wielding. But this is a sword skill and I'm building him with a focus towards knives. It seems like if I'm ever going to unlock it I'll have to dump a ton of skill points into swords that I'll never use? Am I missing something? This seems like a really odd way to design a skill tree.
