What do the Love Potions in Octagonia do? (Dragon Quest 11)

I know they can be used to craft some things but... out side of that does it have any other purposes?

Questions about delving into Dragon Quest IX's postgame

    Posted: 30 Mar 2021 11:31 PM PDT

Over the weekend I beat DQIII on my Switch (and thus, accomplishing the feat of beating all the numbered DQ games released for the western market). It got me thinking about replaying some of them if only because I genuinely don't remember the plot (mostly IV, VI, and IX).

I've heard that DQ IX's postgame is pretty extensive, but without the wifi component for DLC, how easy is it to do all that's available after beating the main story? Is there anything to do besides just running through grottoes?

I'm still pretty new when it comes to using reddit but here's my character in DQX I guess

    Keep Going or Start Anew

    Posted: 31 Mar 2021 02:03 AM PDT

Should I keep playing XI or purchase XI S and start from the begining? For context, I have just met Queen Marina and gotten the Green Orb.

I have heard the port has a few cool additions that aren`t in the original game. However, from what I have seen, I don`t know if it`s worth buying the game a second time. Then again, I did by Persona 5 Royal despite having the og game. So, I don`t know what I should do.

If anyone could share their opinion, that would be great. Am I too far into the main game, or is it worth the purchase

    Dragon Quest X anyone?

    Posted: 30 Mar 2021 03:52 PM PDT

I've only played VIII and XI but man I really wanna play X, as an avid mmo player I'm super interested in X and it sucks that it hasn't been released in the west, but I did download it and it seems like its no longer ip blocked as long as you're in the United States, that being the case, is there any hope for an actual western release? I keep finding articles mentioning it's a possibility, but then also a lot saying it'll never happen

What do you guys think? Do you think it'll ever see a western release? Also, does anyone here still actively play the game? How bad is the language barrier? Would you still recommend the game for someone who absolutely loves Dragon Quest games and mmos regardless of the language barrier? How popular is Dragon Quest X in Japan? Are the servers booming with players or since it's been out for so long is it not that popular? Is the game frequently updated?

Thanks in advance, I really want to try the game out, but the language barrier might be too big of an obstacle I'm thinking, but maybe not, just looking for others input

How often should I battle enemies in a given area?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2021 01:47 AM PDT

Hi all. First time playing Dragon Quest, normally used to Final Fantasy, especially 7, 8, 9. Because the enemies are visible and quite easily avoidable, how do you strike a balance between spending time battling to gain exp and going to the next area? I find that sometimes I just want to advance the plot, but have on occasion met a more difficult enemy as a result and got wiped.

Got Dragon Quest VIII (PS2) SUPER EXCITED!

    Posted: 30 Mar 2021 04:46 PM PDT

    Hi everyone,

Just got Dragon Quest VIII from an eBay auction. After DQ XI, I have fallen in love with the series. Any tips for DQVIII before I start playing. I know there are differences between the DS/PS2 version.

    Game hurts my eyes (literally)

    Game hurts my eyes (literally)

I don't know what is wrong. I bought Xbox Series S a few days ago and games looks little different. I didn't tried DQXI S on other platforms. When sun is up, the green grass hurts my eyes. How can i explain this, everything is too shiny and bright. Like contrast at full. I tried to change brightness more dark. It's better but, it's feels unnatural. I don't know what to do? I'm playing at 39 inch VESTEL TV. The videos I watched doesn't have same effect on me. It literally gives headhache and making my eyes tired, only this game makes me this effect this much.

I don't know you can understand from picture but it's still to bright. Doesn't hurt me eyes though.

    Edit: My tv settings

    Just a quick question

    Posted: 30 Mar 2021 04:28 PM PDT

So my intro into this series was 3. I played it on GBC and when I found the mobile port I was extremely thrilled. Since then I've beaten 1 and 2 and I just started playing 4. Should i just keep playing in order or should i start jumping around in the series?
