    I just got to Pickham with roughly 2400 coins. There are great weapons / armor in the shops, but I just don't know how to make money. Any suggestions?

    Pretty sure I just got lucky with a copy of DQV DS

    So I've been trying to collect all of the dragon quest games; I've secured all of them released stateside, and their rereleases, except V and VI on DS. Those have been... troublesome, since the current old-game market has skyrocketed their value to well over $150 apiece (and thats just been the loose carts I've seen).

    So I'm browsing yesterday, just to see what I can find, and I find DQ5 DS in stock on this random beauty product site. For around $90, New in box.

    I figured this was too good to be true, but decided I'd chance it and just refund/dispute the charge as needed if it turned up a scam. I was leery since it gave me the option of adding multiple copies to my cart.

    Anyway, that was last night. As of this morning, my order has progressed to preparing for shipment, and the store page has been updated to bump the price up to almost $400 for their remaining stock.

    So... I'm pretty sure I tipped them off to stock them forgot they had... so, sorry about that to anyone else looking for the game, lol. Anyway. Guess I'll find out in a couple days when/if the game actually arrives.

    Just figured I'd share. Super excited to play this one. I know I could have played on mobile, but... I dont like it.

    In DQX Version 2, you can find this character roaming around after a certain point in the expansion. If you find her, she'll give you some pretty unique items!

    What a great fight! DQ11 has been cemented as my all time favorite RPG! Took me 90 actions with no pre-pepping, no seed farming, and no items used. Just figured I'd post my setup and strategy in case anyone wanted to try the fight without just spamming invincibility. A brief summary of my strategy is: "make everyone as supportive as possible so you can get buffs back up fast when they're cleared."

    My party consisted of Luminary, Erik, Veronica, and Serena and everyone was mostly 98-99, except Serena who was only level 91. Everyone wore 2x Catholicon Ring +3's. The only pep power I used was Arboria's Blessing to recharge MP (although I used no items, it's probably a good idea to bring some Elixirs, because had I not gotten a good Blessing off that didn't get dispelled, Serena probably would have ran out of MP.) Also, although I didn't do any seed farming before hand, I did beat the secret trial from Angri-la, and those stat boosts were huge--I probably wouldn't have been able to beat it without them.

    Luminary

    • Supreme Sword of Light +3 / Hypernova Sword +3

    • Irwin's Helm +3

    • Erdwin's Tunic +3

    • The Luminary was used primarily as a healer during this fight but would get in damage when possible with Sword Dance. If given the choice between getting in damage or omnihealing so that Serena could get Kabuff back up, I chose to have the Luminary heal.

    Erik

    • Galaxarang +3 / Hunter's Moon +3

    • Pirate King's Cap +3

    • Pirate King's Coat +3

    • Benevolessence and Sage's Stone in inventory

    On Erik I chose to use boomerangs because getting off a 3 turn dagger combo is very difficult in this fight, plus you will be fighting two enemies at once for some part of it, so Divide + Double Down is more reliable and effective. Erik should be primarily focused on damage, but he should be using Benevolessence in between combos to keep magic resist buffs up.

    Veronica

    • Aurora Staff +3

    • Crown of Eternity +3

    • Gown of Eternity +3 (though given how I used her, a Seraph's Robe probably would have been better)

    • War Drum and Sage's Stone in inventory

    Veronica is mainly a buff/debuff bot during this fight. I mainly had her cast Magic Barrier when needing to keep magic defense up and then also Sap/Kasap to keep boss defense down. Using an occasional War Drum to buff attack is also possible, but with the Double Down debuff and the fact that the boss removes your buffs, keeping up Sap is easier than keeping up the drums.

    Serena

    • Faerie King's Cane +3

    • Metal King Shield +3

    • Serenica's Circlet +3

    • Serenica's Surplice +3

    Serena's job is basically to do nothing other than cast Kabuff and Omniheal.

    Fight Strategy

    Basically it's just a priority system.

    1. Omniheal if it is needed with either Luminary or Serena.

    2. Revive a fallen member.

    3. Cast or use an item to buff everyone/debuff the boss.

    4. Deal damage.

    Anyway, with this setup, the fight is still far from trivial. People will probably die and need revived, but it is possible. This is definitely the best post-game/secret boss fight I've done in terms of difficulty/fairness/ability to not just be forced to cheese it (Disgaea post-game bosses anyone?)

    But yeah, onto added difficulty + 2D mode I guess!

    I've never played any dragon quest game, I really like the look of this one, but I'm worried it's Gunna be too easy is the game easy to a point of boring or is it worse amping the difficulty for a new comer?

    So, I just got the Flute after Veronica's death, but the flying is super limited and not worth it tbh. It only takes you to floating islands and whale stations that are closed off from the rest of the map, its super disappointing after the zenith drafon and flying carpet from 5. Was this annoying to anyone else?

    XI Definitive Edition

    So I've been a fan of DQ ever since I played IX which is still my favourite to this day and I'm currently going through my second run of XI with Draconian Mode on. I'd like to play more of the main titled games, but I don't know which to get first because I've seen good reviews around them.
