- On my old PC and monitor I could do lower resolution. On this one I can't. Screen is always massive. Anyone know why? I would like to be able to look at guides while playing or do other things while grinding. No google solution to lower resolution works. Max I can select is 720. How to fix?

Question about DQ7 Postgame and The Haven Posted: 19 Jun 2021 04:51 AM PDT I have beaten DQ7 and have started the postgame and have been looking for mini medals to get a mysterious tablet. While I was playing the game, I missed all the haven recruitments and figured that I could leave them for the postgame. After the Almighty appeared, everyone in present Frobisher vanished and I'm not able to recruit the guy at Frobisher Inn (and, in turn, no-one else down the line) - is there any way to get the Frobisher inhabitants back or have I just missed the opportunity forever? Some thoughts on Act 3 (spoilers ahoy!) Posted: 18 Jun 2021 10:29 PM PDT I just finished Act 3, and after initally hating the entire premise of it, I can now say that I...don't completely hate it. Act 3, I mean -- the game as a whole I really love. The biggest strength of this game, for me, is the characters. I really, really, really like these people, and I loved that I've gotten to spend so much time with them. That's why I was so initially against the entire time travel premise: Act 3 negates all of the wonderful character moments from Act 2, all of the struggles and growth each character underwent. That wouldn't be so bad if we got something as good or better in exchange, but what we get in Act 3 is a weak approximations of each character's Act 2 story. Take Sylvando's parade. In Act 2, you first see the newly destroyed world through Sylvando's eyes, and his determination not to give into despair is exactly what the player needs at that point. When you finally see his parade, it's so silly and wonderful; even the buttoned-up Hendrik gets in on the fun. It's a beautiful moment. In Act 3 we get...a curse that makes people dance? I'm sorry, but that's just lame. At that point, I felt cheated, even betrayed by this game that I'd come to love so much. By the end of Act 2, we've completed a neat rise-fall-rise three-act structure, and it works beautifully. I feel like I've done something of consequence for a world I've become invested in. As Act 3 goes on, that emotional compulsion to help characters I care about diminishes -- mostly because they're not the characters I care about. Yes, they keep their levels and skills and all (except Serena, naturally) but I know the Erik in my party in Act 3 never had to face his sister's anger and fight to save her. This Rab never underwent the training at the hands of Master Pang. What makes all this especially galling to me is that it could have been avoided so easily. Just send everybody back to the past! Or have the hero go back temporarily to bring back Veronica. Something. Just so long as we can maintain the integrity of these characters. After watching the Act 3 ending, I'm left with the feeling that Act 2 is for players invested in the characters of this particular game and Act 3 is for players invested in the Dragon Quest series. I can see the appeal of this. Personally, I've only played the first three games (on the NES back in the day) but nothing else since this game. My investment in the series is pretty minimal. Of course, I've played nearly every mainline Final Fantasy game, and if the ending of the latest game connected it to previous entries in the series, that would be really meaningful to me. For people with deep affection for the series, the Act 3 ending must mean a lot. Still, I don't think that mythologizing gesture has to come at the expense of the characters. They get swept aside, after the player may have spent up to a hundred hours with them. For me, that ending is a tremendous letdown. It seems to run against a central idea of the game too, that the hero doesn't – can't – do it alone. The entire conceit of the silent protagonist reinforces this. Because he can't speak, he's not allowed to dominate the game in the way that, well, protagonists can in Final Fantasy games. Here, the other characters need to speak for him. The player comes to rely on them as their way of making the world sensible. Sorry if this is really jumbled. These are a lot of thoughts that have been percolating since I began Act 3 and wanted to share them now that I got to the ending. What do you think? [link] [comments] | ||

[spoiler] DQ IV help needed: please where is the sword? Posted: 19 Jun 2021 02:33 AM PDT Hello, I am currently playing Dragon Quest IV on my Nintendo DS and I got stuck: I am at the point when I am supposed to collect all the Zenithian equipment in order to ascend to Zentihia, but I can't find the Zenithian Sword, which is the last piece I am missing. I traveled around the world, spoke to all the people etc... I did not even find any clues expect for Endor king telling Torneko that the sword exists, but I did not find any suitable dungeon near Endor, where the sword should be. Please help.
