Not so long ago I decided to collect the physical versions of the series, and today these two arrived at my house! 30 and 20 dollars (IX and RS) from two guys that just didn't want em anymore, so I wanted to share my luck with you guys! Hopefully I can get all the others for less than a kidney haha

When does XI "hook" people?

I have a bad habit of starting games (RPGs especially), getting to the first save point, and either dropping the game for a while or dropping after a few hours. I don't want to do that with this game.

Without any spoilers, how long should I play this game in a sitting so that I can get past all the dumb things that plague games these days (you know, things like endless tutorials, etc).

I only played two DQ games before, VIII (which I dropped and forgot about, I was pretty far too at a point where there's a vine filled castle?) and VII which I fell in love with and completed.

P.S. I only get about 4 hours of game time unless it's on weekends.

I have just finished Dragon Quest IV

Hello!

I am quite a newbie in the DQ universe, my first game was DQ XI on the Nintendo Switch, now I was playing Dragon Quest IV on the Nintendo DS. I tried to solve the game "all on my own without the Internet", but I ran to an issue where I was stuck more than a few weeks, so I asked for help:

The final boss was relatively easy to beat, my party combination was Hero (the strongest character) - Ragnar (some brute force needed) - Kiryl (because of the kabuff) - Maya (lots of offensive spells)

The final boss collapsed right at the time Kiryl and Maya ran out of mana and I was planning to switch them for different characters.

Overall the game was very good, I entertained myself very much.

These are the only two DQ games I own, so I suppose when I continue with the series I have to buy something next. I have Switch and DS, from what I know there's the first trilogy I,II,III on Switch and V for the DS. I do not own a 3DS.

Do I need to hear Dragon Quest XI?

This is gonna sound really picky of me to explain. I got these podcasts and VODs I wanna catch up on, and I prefer to play games I don't particularly need to hear. Like, typically I'd use Fallout 4 or Dragon Age, or Kingdom Hearts because I've played 'em so many times that I don't need to pay attention to dialogue and story anymore.

Now, thing is, when I'm playing the podcast/VOD in my earphones, I turn game volume off because it's difficult for me to divide my attention like this. However if the game includes voice acting, whether in full, or just for story, I'll choose to straight up listen to only the game.

Perhaps it would be good to know what the gameplay to cutscenes ratio this game has, too.

Cheers for answering, I know it seems like quite a mess.

I'm at the point where you're hunting for the wedding rings (exciting am I right), I heard rumors of Saber being "in a cave to the west" but can't find a cave west of that town. Did I miss the cave somehow?
