    I rarely ever post, but this has been on my mind for a while. I've played many of the Dragon Quests, and I wish I had more friends to talk about it with as I do with Pokémon. Most people say "what's that". Another example of this would be the west's reaction to The Hero in Smash. I was extremely excited, but I didn't know anyone else who was tbh. I be lurking on this sub and I'm always happy to see people as passionate about DQ as me haha

    Without any spoilers, what did you think of dragon quest 3's story? I'm in love with octopath travelers art style and since dq 3 is getting a remake in the same style, I was pretty hyped. I've never actually played a dq game before so this would probably be my entry into the franchise

    A games story really impacts the enjoyment factor for me. If a game looks nice but has a subpar story, I kinda get let down...there's a few exceptions 😅

    The dragon quest games are on sale on switch right now, but I don't want to buy 3 so I can experience the story for the first time with the remake, and I' not sure if the others are similar in any ways apart from gameplay

    So please tell me what you think and if it'd be a good idea to play the other games beforehand :)

    DQ 8 and 11 - Is it easy to mess up spending skill points so you can't complete the game?

    Just about to start out and as always I like to complete JRPGs without a guide however I've heard a lot of talk about needing to have specific builds in mind to 100% the game and certain abilities can remain locked if you don't spend your skill points wisely.

    So is it possible to still 100% the game without worrying about how you distribute your skill points or is a guide almost required to create builds that can beat the game 100%?

    How come I never see anyone talk about VI?

    I've known about Dragon Quest for 20ish years, and I've been playing through the series starting with 1 since 2018, but in all this time VI is the one I read/see/hear the least about. In my experience:

    1: Started the series.
    2: Has a reputation for being quite difficult and is usually bundled with 1.
    3: Made the series a major hit and seems to be the most mainstream/popular (at least among the Japanese fanbase.)
    4: Is a big fan favorite and has a well-remembered and loved cast of characters.
    5: Is Horii's favorite and is often cited as the best in the series.
    7: Has a reputation for being the longest in the series.
    8: Was many people's first in the series (Outside of Japan), was the first time the series was referred to as Dragon Quest (Again, outside of Japan), was released on the PS2 (Best selling console of all-time plus it had a ton of RPGs), and is often cited as one of the best in the series.
    9: Was released on the DS (Best selling handheld of all-time), was also many people's first in the series, and I believe it was the first to break a million sold copies outside of Japan.
    10: Is online so it is constantly getting updated, plus it is Japan only and people keep lamenting that/asking for a worldwide release.
    11: Most recent in the series and was also many people's first, plus I get the sense it is the most successful installment outside of Japan.

    Also, 3, 4, 8, and 11's Heroes are playable in Smash Bros so there's that. But 6? I guess Terry? But that's like all I ever see in relation to it.

    Wich dragon quest 11 version to buy?

    Hi fellow gamers. I wanne buy dragon quest 11 for the ps4. See an Edition of Light and a Defenitive edition. Both different prices. Can anyone explain the difference cause online i cant really find a short anwser a drsgonnquest noob like me understands. Does one have more DLC? Special weopons or story.etc?
