    Can I start DQ4 without playing 1-3?

    Hi Everyone,

    I'm currently ~70 hours into DQ11S and am absolutely enthralled with this game and want to play through every localized game in the franchise. I picked up DQ1 and 2 on switch in anticipation of the DQ3 HD-2D remake, and I would like to play through those two shortly before it's released so that I can play the Erdrick trilogy back to back.

    I've also purchased 4, 5, and 6 on mobile and since we don't know when the DQ3 remake will be dropping, I would like to start playing DQ4 right after beating 11.

    I know that DQ4 marks the start of a separate trilogy, but will I be missing out on any story connections by skipping 1-3?

    I get the sense that Pep Powers are underappreciated.

    I'm going through my third run of DQXI, and I find that Pep Powers are both great mechanically, and add a lot of flavor to the cast. They remind me of Chrono Trigger's multi-techs, except more useful since they only use up one character's turn. Moreover, you have a lot of useful effects that are otherwise hard to aquire such as HP and MP regen (Arboria's Blessing), rare stealing (Itemized Kill), or guarantee rare drops (Hallelujah). Many are just helpful to make the most of a final Pep turn, such as the many powers than only require a single pepped up character. Many just have hilarious animations, such as Fly-By-Knight or Rough 'n' Tumble.

    While I would be fine if they do something else instead of the Pepped Up status in DQXII, I do hope we have more team attacks or team interactions.

    What are some of your favorite Pep Powers?

    [Post-game] Can Erik's victimiser crit?

    I was thinking of using Assasin +3 with cath ring +3. I also use exotoga +3 and I didn't want double cath rings because of the overlap with exotoga.

    But if Erik's victimiser can not crit, than Assasin +3 is useless and what should I use.

    Also what accessory is best for Jade? Double cath ring? I did all post game events and 3 trials, I am now gearing everyone up.

    Edit: just defeated egg cell, so nvm all.

    Am I overleveled? I just got sylvando to rejoin my party. I'm level 41 sylvando is level 38 rab is level 37 and Hendrickson is level 37.

    Bildrick's heritage?

    So is Bildrick(from Builders 1) still a descendant of Alef, he was just never brought up in DQ2? Or is he just some random builder that happened to dream of the events in DQ1? Because since Builders 1 was just a dream, does that mean he never was a descendant of Erdrick?

    Rexommended skill trees for Hero and Yangus? (PS2 version)

    I'm playing DQ VIII and love the characters and story, but the inability to reset skill points is giving me serious analysis paralysis in the early game. I think I'm set on 23 Whips, 100 Staves, and 100 Sex Appeal for Jess and Bows and Charisma for Angelo, but I can't make up my mind for the Hero and Yangus.

    For Yangus, I definitely want Axes for Executioner. Besides that, is it better to have Scythes for Stealing and extra damage, or Fisticuffs for Thin Air?

    For the Guv, I'm planning to go for 90-100 Courage, but can't decide which weapon to focus on. I like the idea of getting Swords to 100 for Gigagash, but read it's not that useful. I also like Spears, but heard they're not as useful as Swords later on. Do I need Thunder Thrust if Yangus has Executioner?

    I also like Boomerangs, but is it worth investing 52 Points for Power Throw at the expense of Swords, especially if Yangus has Thin Air?

    Decisions, decisions. Any advice would be appreciated!

    Any tips on DQXI's Draconian Quest?

    I decided that I want to do a playthrough of this game with ALL of the Draconian Quest settings turned on because I'm a masochist. Anyway, any tips on getting through the game? I grinded up to level 6 today and things got a bit easier once I unlocked heal or hero. I've already beat this game normally once, so I should be familiar with most aspects any of you being up. I'll be checking this post tomorrow as I am about to go to bed. Thank You, to anyone who reaches out!

    Finished dq1-3 and dont know what I wanna play next

    Hey all, as the title says, I completed dq1-3 and loved them! 3 was a particular high point as I loved the customizable party members and lore coming full circle

    My original an was to play 11 next (have already started it (6 hours in) and loved it so much that my friend recommended I put it on hold to play the first three so I could better enjoy 11. I did just as he said and now I have a problem... I love dq and want to play every game!

    I just bought 9 as I found one in a local game shop for 50 dollars complete in box (saw what it went for on ebay and I had to snap it up) and preemptively bought both 7 and 8 on my 3ds (virtual download as their second hand market price is more then I cam spend atm) and 4-6 are all conveniently available on smartphone. I want to play 11 as I loved what ive experienced and want to see how it connects to the original trilogy but I also wanna play the others too as I know now that this series is one Ill love for life

    What dq should I play next? Should I play the 3ds ones first? 9? 11? I think ill hold out on the other three as I need to get paid before I buy them unless you all recommend that I should play them first

    Tldr- I love dq, its probably my new favorite franchise, and i want some advice from series veterans on where to go from here (also please no spoilers!)

    Should I get Dragon Quest XI on Switch?

    I already own Dragon Quest XI on my computer, however I will be moving to a new country over the next month and will only receive my computer in 2 months from now. I have finished the playthrough on my computer, but am interested in trying the definitive version on switch. Is it worth purchasing the game again for the switch experience, and is the definitive version significantly better. Would it be better to wait and purchase it on my computer instead? Thanks in advance.
