Welcome to /r/DragonQuest! Series overview and suggestions on where to start! Posted: 22 May 2021 11:20 PM PDT Hi and welcome to r/dragonquest ! Dragon Quest is a series of traditional turn-based Japanese Role-playing games (JRPGS) that feature colorful enemies, heartwarming music, a strong sense of character, intriguing stories, and solid gameplay. While traditional, Dragon Quest games have been quite influential, being among the first JRPGs for consoles and consistently featuring innovations (such as monster taming in Dragon Quest 5 years before Pokemon popularized it). There are also a large number of spinoffs in different categories -- Action RPG, Voxel Builder, monster raising, and more! We've created a wiki page describing the games and some opinions of them:https://www.reddit.com/r/dragonquest/wiki/index Although the wiki is intended as an introduction to the series, you are still welcome to post your own "which Dragon Quest should I play" posts. Why? Because, just like every player is unique, so is every Dragon Quest. It's less about "Which Dragon Quest is Best" and more about "Which Dragon Quest might I enjoy the most?" So, while this post is hopefully a fun starting point for new members, please do feel free to ask questions and read through some recommendations from others in the comments below or in archived threads. (I'm relying on experts from this subreddit to help me out -- Please give feedback below! The task is too big for one person.) This subreddit is designed to be a welcoming place to discuss and share our love for the series. Of course, not everyone will love every game, but as fans we can critique the series without making it a personal attack on other fans. Thank you and have fun questing! Dragon Quest VI help in Amoru after receiving magic bed Posted: 17 Jun 2021 06:08 PM PDT Hey guys, so I decided to play an English translation of DQ VI on the SFC. I received the magic bed and heard about some cave that has an illusionary wall near Amoru. However, I decided to stop by first in Amoru in the sleeping world, and upon entering I see a little girl and boy talking, but their dialogue is completely missing. All that was salvaged was that they kept repeating the name of the old couple that used to be thieves in their Youth. Can anyone help me understand what's going on in this scene? Much appreciated Edit; actually, everyone's dialogue in this village is missing haha...fudge [link] [comments]

Question about reforming in Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart Posted: 17 Jun 2021 01:50 PM PDT Hello, fellow fans of Dragon Quest. I am currently taking the trial that is this Japan only Dragon Quest game. I think it's fine, but I find myself having trouble against certain common enemies due to lack of healers (yes, the game won't drop heart of monsters that learn healing skills). In two chests I found the hart of a Healslime and of a King Slime. Healslime (also known as Healer) learns Heal and HealUs, while King Slime learns HealUs and Vivify. Very important skills. I was considering using those hearts to create monsters who can actually heal so I can finally enjoy the game. However, I am a bit scared because, as it has been mentioned, those are the only hearts of monsters with healing abilities I have. Let's say that I reform Venasu into a Gargoyle (Heart of Healer + Heart of another monster which I forgot). While the Gargoyle learn the healing skills of Healer (as well as the skills of the other monster), or just the skill that the Gargoyle inherently learns? Otherwise, my other option is combining the two hearts of Healer and King Slime to create a Slime Knight, which probably has, at the very least, Heal. Sorry if this question is a bit dumb, but I haven't found an answer anywhere else, and I am almost 20 hours into the game and I don't properly understand the system. If anyone could help me, I would be very glad [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Jun 2021 08:51 AM PDT Okay idk what to do rn so after fighting Jasper and Yggdrasil falling, I start playing as Sylvando and now Jade, but other playthroughs start as the Luminary straight away, what's up with that? [link] [comments]

Posted: 17 Jun 2021 12:23 PM PDT So while looking for famous DQ9 maps to seek out, I found out some are famous because they are good for "chest timer farming", trying to look for that information on google only led me to a ton of calculators sites or tutorials for the calculator software, but no explanation of what it is. So what IS a chest timer? What are these calculators, tutorials and maps about? [link] [comments]
Best place to grind in DQ3? (Switch version) Posted: 16 Jun 2021 11:33 PM PDT So i've gotten to the end of Zoma's castle/dungeon and it seems my party isn't a high enough level to take on Zoma after the 3 bosses before him. I get through all 3 but run out of mana on my priest and sage. So my question is where's the best place to get exp? I've found that the muddy hands outside of Tantegel can call living statues infinitely so i've been trying to do that. Is there something better than this? Current level of my party is, Hero: 45 Warrior: 44 Sage: 38 Priest: 44. I was also thinking of turning my priest into a sage but would that be worth it? Any other tips would be appreciated as well! Posted: 17 Jun 2021 11:30 AM PDT Hi all, is there a way to tell if a chest is a Cannibox visually? I don't have Peep for Erik and their model in battle has a handle on the side. [link] [comments]

Posted: 17 Jun 2021 09:16 AM PDT Hey guys, after finishing multiple time dqmj2 (also dqmj & dqmj2 pro) with multiple challenges, i've come to share with you my challenge idea for dqmj challenge series, and to know what challenge would you guys do ? I - Basic rule for most runs :
II - "Hardcore" rules : (you might not finish the game with all those rules together, but having some of them spice up the game) I usualy go for at least :
And 1 of those :
III - Core rule Until now, it was just rules to make the game less "kid-friendly", but in order to not get bored i usually add some rule that completely change the gameplay. I usualy take one of those : A - Tier challenge : You may only use monster up to a chosen rank (F rank-only being the most difficult one) For example, with a F only challenge :
B - Family challenge : You may only use monster from a chosen family. C - XP rule : You may only synthesis once after each boss, and you may not have more lvl than them (also you cannot overxp -> then synthesis to be under xp cap, if a monster if over lvl it must be left in storage until you beat the next boss)
D - Other rules :

Posted: 16 Jun 2021 09:45 PM PDT Hello! Very simple question I couldn't find an answer to anywhere. Is there some way I can check how much XP I need before I level up in DQXI? [Like a 100/250 format] Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
