One of my favorite NPCs in DQXI; his emotional whiplash over the world repeatedly not ending was my favorite subplot.

I beat Dragon Quest V for the first time today! I'm playing them in order and this is definitely the best one so far.

    Just made it to Yggdrasil!

When I got to this point, I expected something to happen, but the portrayal of this Ocarina of Time esque nightmare world was just top notch! The Lord of the Rings inspired gryphon flocks were both awe inspiring and endearing, and even though I was spoiled about Hendrik joining the party (even though it was all but inevitable at this point in the game), I was not expecting the Last Bastion. They really did a good job of making the once colorful and exciting world as grim as they could with the world they made, even pushing the border and making it edgier, especially with the scene when the kid enters the church. I haven't been back to Tickington yet, though I've been neglecting that aspect of the S game, but so far I am loving everything that's come out of act 2 so far, although I am confused about the implications of some of the side stories. Will I find Jade captured by a beast in Octagonia? Could we have fought that big boss that Erik injured without that super sayan segment? How are we going to find Rab, and in what condition will he be in? I can't wait to find all this out.

Did DQXI S on PS4 Release in Australia?

    Posted: 15 Jun 2021 08:08 AM PDT

Title. Been trying to catch up on DQ titles since VIII. I can't seem to find any listing for the definitive edition anywhere for XI on PS4 specifically. Am I not looking hard enough?

DQXI bugs in the bridge, need help

    Posted: 15 Jun 2021 07:28 AM PDT

This was already asked here a couple of years ago, basically, after I escape the prison, I have to run and hide from the guards, under Hellador, but every time i reach the bridge falling cinematic, my ps4pro shuts down, I already tried the other solutions given in the previous post, but it didn't work, what can I do?

    DQ 11 exclusive switch content

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 09:49 PM PDT

So I played the DQ11 definitive edition on Steam but I've just recently found a video that has a weird boss called timewyrm. Basically Mordegon but yellow. Is there a list of exclusive content that the switch has? I might as well buy the switch version if it has more content lol.

Are there any WRPGs similar in "flavor" to DQ?

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 04:27 PM PDT

Hi all, I'm a huge DQ fan from way back (I bought Dragon Warrior III and IV on their respective release days on the NES, if that tells you...) and recently with COVID and a little more time on my hands, I've been catching up on some of the entries I've missed over the past ~20 years. It's pretty awesome!

Anyway, my daughter, who is 12, has been getting into it as well, kind of - she LOVES the stories, exploration aspects, and overall whimsical nature of the series, but HATES combat. She's started several different DQ games and loved them at first, but always gets hung up at anything that requires heavy grinding. It seems like she might be more of a fan of WRPGs, if she got the chance to play them. I can't relate - I hate WRPGs; I'm all about the combat aspects and grinding up a super-party in my JRPGs. I think I played all of them that were available in the early-mid 90s, and didn't really like any of them. So, I have no idea what is out there at this point.

I'm guessing there might be some of you on this board who are more "crossover" RPG fans - can anyone recommend any WRPGs that might be somewhat similar in tone to the DQ series, that my daughter might enjoy? Thanks for any help!

    Comparing DQV difficulty to DQIV

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 09:09 PM PDT

I'm about 5 hours into Dragon Quest V, and it feels a notch harder than DQIV (which I finished recently). In these early dungeons, I've actually had a couple situations where I felt pressured to flee from battles to conserve MP for healing, and I've fallen back on Medicinal Herbs multiple times as well. I also feel like it's almost mandatory to have a grinding session before the Ancient Ruins near Coburg (when you rescue the kidnapped Harry). In DQIV, I didn't feel there was any mandatory grinding until Chapter 5 when you need to level up for the Marquis de Leon battle.

Not complaining about the difficulty at all, just observing!

I would instant buy Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 HD-2D Remake

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 12:20 PM PDT

I own boxed copies of Cobi's Journey & Tara's Adventure in mint condition. Spent quite a bit to get a 15th anniversary unboxed silver/white 3ds with the monsters on it & the figurines . Even managed to finally get my hands on a near perfect Prima's Guide Dragon Warrior Monsters 2.

For all those people who know how it feels to really care about a specific game in the series of Dragon Quest. Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 is that game for me. I know it was remade for 3ds but only in japan (which I own a copy of), I'd still love to add the HD-2D Remake to my collection!

Hopefully other people feel like I do with the Monster series. It was such a huge part of my life.
