Would you like new content in DQIII HD-2D remake?

    Posted: 03 Jun 2021 08:27 AM PDT

I'd personally go for new dungeons, bosses and even new vocations.

Bring in vocations Armamentalist, Paladin, Ranger, etc as advance vocations like the Sage. But it may ruin the current design of the game. Idk.

Or improve/add abilities to current vocations like adding Dragon Slash/Hatchet Man to Warriors, Wind Sickles/Multifist to Martial Artists, etc.

How about option for battles to be animated? Like the heroes to be running up to the monster and attacking it, casting spell animation, etc.

Maybe an option to switch to 8bit music to orchestrated music?

Or just stick to the original content? Maybe add the content from GB version?

What'd you think? Hope they reveal more soon and release it on steam/pc too! So much potential, making me want for them to apply the same treatment to DQ4-6!

Do you think that Dragon Quest X Offline will eventually release in America?

    Posted: 03 Jun 2021 09:44 AM PDT

While there is no official confirmation of a planned release date for Dragon Quest X Offline (Which was announced on May 26 for those that don't know) I am curious to know what others think about the possibility of it happening. Also keeping the poll open for as long as possible.

Sylvando is my favorite JRPG character ever

    Posted: 02 Jun 2021 12:47 PM PDT

Look, I know this isn't a particularly interesting or fresh post, but I have to gush. every single interaction and line of dialogue I hear from sylvando makes me love him more. I was worried that they would make him a joke character ("haha funny little gay man has a silly voice") but he's so cool, positive, tough, heroic, and just plain LIKABLE! His character arc has me tearing up occasionally, and his english voice actor delivers such a good performance. And it helps that he's maybe the most useful member of the party in battle. I can't think of another character from a JRPG that I wish was real as much as I do with Sterling Silva Sylvando, and I'm not even done with the game. I'm always impressed with DQ writing but the writing in XI is above and beyond, IMO.

Now if only they'd do away with silent main protagonists 😭

Edit just to say my concern wasn't that he's a queer-coded character PERIOD, but rather that they would take the low-hanging fruit of making a gay character a joke. Sylvando punches toxic masculinity in the face and then heals my entire party every turn.

Are the original trilogy worth playing?

    Posted: 03 Jun 2021 05:49 AM PDT

So I got into dragon quest again after buying a switch, not having played any of the series in years. I got fair far through dragon quest builders 2 as well as a bit into 11 and are considering getting the original 3 from switch store. Just wondering if the original 3 stories are worth playing maybe fill some gaps in the world history to make me understand it better.

New fan of the series here! Wanted to know which game to play next

    Posted: 03 Jun 2021 10:36 AM PDT

Hello all, Im a long time jrpg fan (been playing final fantasy and pokemon for my whole life) and have recently been getting into Dragon Quest. My friend gave me a copy of 11 for my birthday (switch definitive addition) but told me to play 1-3 as they make 11 a more complete experience. I just finished 1 yesterday and loved it, im pretty mad that its taken me this long to play the series (I mean, I lobe jrpgs, I love Toriama, why did I never think to try the combination of both??). I have heard however that 2 is quite a grind and considered the worst in the series while 3 is considered one of the all time greats. Would I be missing out on anything by watching an lp of 2 or skipping it all together and going straight to 3? Im playing the phone ports if that means anything! Also how long are 2 and 3? Just curious because now that im into the series Im chomping at the bits to play 11 and wanna know what kinda time commitment im looking at before I get started

Thanks in advance for any advice! Im looking forward to what you have to say and I'm really looking forward to my deep dive into Dragon Quest! The series has a new fan for life I can tell you that (especially if it sticks to the classic rpg style which I much prefer to action rpgs, 1 just felt like such a nostalgic and pure experience and I heard that every game after feels the same!)

I Hate Myself for Not Getting into this Series Sooner

    Posted: 02 Jun 2021 05:57 PM PDT

I played through all of Dragon Quest 1 and im planning to dedicate HOURS of my life to DQ11 and twelve when it comes out. But I may never get to play 5 because it sells for so much now. I may be able to get 7 and 8 do 3ds. But man i wish i got into this series sooner. I feel ive missed out on a real experience

Just beat the original Dragon Quest!

    Posted: 02 Jun 2021 04:20 PM PDT

It was really fun! It was short and the gameplay was sorta repetitive but that's to be expected in any older jrpg. I'm about to start the second game on my switch.

How do I fight dq11 super bosses?

    Posted: 02 Jun 2021 11:24 PM PDT

I can't find a YouTube guide explaining it. Just videos of people killing a boss called the tymwyrm. I was wondering if there was a guide or if anyone knew what to do after fighting the act 3 boss in order to fight more bosses.

Does "Stronger Monsters" Draconian difficulty require grinding?

    Posted: 02 Jun 2021 11:29 PM PDT

Before I start the game I want to make sure I pick a satisfying difficulty.

Generally in RPG's I will fight all the monsters in my path. If it's a game where you can see the monster before fighting them i will avoid or run from the one's i've already defeated unless i feel i need the extra exp. Can i do such things if I select the "stronger monsters" difficulty, or am I required to grind levels?

Basically I'm fine fighting anything in my path when traveling to various destinations, but if the game requires me to do any more fighting than that in order to level up, then I'm not fine with that.

Also I will usually buy the strongest weapons and armor in shops, but i do not enjoy farming for weapon drops or anything like that. I only like opening all the chests and stuff.

I was hoping this mode would be something that would be a fun challenge, but would not necessitate grinding or farming.

Is this the right mode for me or should I just leave it off?

    edit: minor edit

Playing DQ 1 & 2 - Does it get better?

    Posted: 03 Jun 2021 12:07 AM PDT

I beat DQ1 and I am currently playing DQ 2. Does it get better gameplay wise? I am finding myself to be dependent on a FAQ otherwise I would have to wander around A LOT. Does the series get more intuitive later on where I dont have to rely on a FAQ?
