Dragon quest and Pokemon = stress releif? Posted: 20 Sep 2021 08:30 AM PDT Can I get an honest answer? How old are typical drgaon quest players and do ypu play it as stress releif? I like the lore, the story plot and characters...are great in japanese only (I just played dragon quest 11 though and curious about others) ...but let's be honest...it's disturbingly juvenile (or dresses itself up to be when that isn't the case) and I wanna know how many play this for the kiddie stuff? Is it a return to childhood sort of gig? ( which at least in 11 is the total opposite of the plot/themes). Do plot, themes and story fly over the head in favor of bright colors, cute monsters, etc? (Jade,Sylv,Erik's lives, that creepy boss in Phnom Nom in the mural,Veronica...all that shitshow that was post Yggdrasil and it was amazing) Is it a pokemon kinda deal? Now I'm not here to judge anybody I just want full explanation as for why? I'm curious about players, and or fandom surrounding this franchise. If you wanna know why I played it,I saw my sister playing it on hamepass out of boredom, and the music and such was turned off.In this stateit's one of the best games I ever played. I just wanna know what the 'dragonquest experience ' is suppose to be. I highly suspect I played a different game than everyone else playing it. Maybe age regression or something? I just want answers is all. Also what's the difference between the attitudes of a casual player and folks who start a fandom around it? (For reference I'm typically a fate fan...so this is all new to me. Started on Fate/stay night unlimited bladeworks, went on to watch the rest of the stay/night series, currently on El Melloi casefiles...I doubt anyone into dragon quest would even touch anything outside Fate Grand Order, but look at me...) Hard mode for the older games? Posted: 20 Sep 2021 07:56 AM PDT I'm replaying some of the DS ports of the older titles, but since I know Dragon Quest's mechanics so well, I'm finding them a bit easy. Are there challenges you set for yourself to make the older games harder? [link] [comments]
PDF guide for DQ11 Definitive Edition? Posted: 20 Sep 2021 07:36 AM PDT About to start playing through DQ11 Definitive on Steam, and I want to print off a walkthrough before I do. Problem is that every one I find online is HTML formatted with multiple pages, which makes it a pain to print off. Is there a good guide in PDF format anywhere? [link] [comments]
Need videos for DQXI 3ds all tickington quests Posted: 20 Sep 2021 05:38 AM PDT I want to do the tickington quests on the 3ds version of XI, but I want some videos to follow along to, and I can't find any videos of what I need on YouTube [link] [comments]
Thinking about perfect difficulty for playthrough with my girlfriend on Switch Posted: 20 Sep 2021 05:16 AM PDT So here is the deal, I will play this with my girlfriend. She is a huge anime fan and into such stuff. For her the most important parts are the story and the world. So let's say this is automaticly covered by DQ11 and not worry about it. For me story is very important but gameplay is also very important (it needs to be diffcult) but I actually can't stand grinding. My girlfriend also likes cinematic momement during boss fights. Yes I know it is pretty conflicting but there are some chalenginng games with a lot of combat but not specially grinding (for example final fantasy 4, there are tons of random encounters but all those fights are more about resources management and carefull planning on how to last till the end of dungeon). Very difficult but I would say not much grinding. I am trying to find a middle ground so game will be challenging, but without much grinding and gameplay will not slow down story significantly. I am thinking about either playing it on normal with no low monsters exp and trying to avoid most optional fights and try to get underleveld like Tim Roger suggests. Or play it with extra strong monsters and no low monsters exp. So how does playing underleveled compare to playing somewhat more standard with extra strong monsters ? Has anyone done both ? With underleveled run I am worried game will end up still too easy and bore me and with extra strong monsters I am worried we will and up burned out and not finish it. Does game become significantly longer to playthrough ? [link] [comments]
Would it be best for one to use a guide to find Monsters in DQ8 for Monster Arena? Posted: 19 Sep 2021 04:10 PM PDT I kind of don't know if using a guide would ruin the experience for that side-quest or not, so I am really curious. If I do it without a guide, is it too much trouble? Thanks! [link] [comments]
How does Monster Recruiting Work in Dragon Quest VII (3DS)? Posted: 19 Sep 2021 03:23 PM PDT I'm playing through the game for the first time on 3ds, and I've played 1-6 before this. I just got the big book of monsters, and it says that you can recruit monsters. Does this work like V did where you have a small chance to recruit them to go to that village when you beat them? I'm just curious how it works (so I don't miss anything), so please try not to include any spoilers in your response, as I've so far played this entire game without resorting to a guide. So far I'm really loving this game, and I'm finding it to be very friendly to playing without any sort of guide. [link] [comments]
