First time playing dragon quest EVER Posted: 18 Sep 2021 09:44 PM PDT Hey guys, so I've been thinking of trying out Dragon Quest for the first time, particularly the 11th one, DQXI. I'm a pretty big fan of Square Enix's work, Final Fantasy being my all time favorite game series EVER. And I'm currently on the fence of spending my next 100 or so hours on FF9 (which I've beat before almost 12 years ago) or the newest Dragon Quest game. I'm curious how good the 11th game is regarding the story. I already know I'll like the JRPG turn based combat aspect and exploration of the game, but not knowing any thing of the story, id like to know some spoiler free opinions you guys may have. I'm a real sucker for big plot twists and character/world building. And if there's any form of romance I always enjoy stuff like that too. Im totally expecting biased opinions considering I'm on the DQ subreddit but still would be greatly appreciated :) [link] [comments]

Do I keep my jetons after I beaten the monsters in zwistanbul casino? Posted: 19 Sep 2021 10:18 AM PDT I really would like to know since it seems a little fishy to me. And I don't wanna spend 5 hours to get as max as possible to loose it seconds after lol. Thanks for your help [link] [comments]
Would I benefit from grinding for Empyrea? Posted: 19 Sep 2021 04:04 AM PDT Characters are levels 34, 33, 33, and 32. The boss takes barely any damage? It's a bit of a struggle here. What do you think? Is it possible for me to go back to the World of Light for a grind? Would I have to chase down Empyrea again to get back in? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Would i like Dragon Quest XI as someone who has not played any other JRPGs? Posted: 18 Sep 2021 07:52 PM PDT Im about to go through an incredibly hard time for the next two weeks and i will need something to take my mind off of things. I've been playing Tales of Arise and its triggering in me a longing for another sprawling 100s plus hour long JRPG. Tales of arise is very fun and has beautiful visuals, but the adventuring, world details, lore, are seemingly non-existent. It just not interesting setting really. Very fun game and i will be finishing it, but its currently leaving me longing for more. Its hard to describe that feeling that I'm going for, the sense of adventure, discovery, a world to explore with people to find, befriend or fight. I'm not specifically looking for raw exploration, it doesn't need to be open world. But more so the idea of narrative exploration. But there needs to be an actual game, just running across an open field doing a few random encounters with no reason other then just running to the next narrative moment. I want to be able to sink myself into the game. I don't know why DQXI specifically attracted me, but i remember seeing a video that showed off the variety of the world and how different all the culture and people, and i immediately got that feeling i was looking for. What does the game offer? is there a good video showing off what you can do? like side activities, loot, character building? how much is here to sink my teeth into? The big issue for me is that i don't like turn based combat, at all, to the point where its the number one turn off for me no matter how good or interesting the game looks. Yes, I'm one of those people, but I'm not here to have any kind of argument. I'm just curious as to what this game tbc is like? the big reason I'm not a fan is just how long it can take or how drawn out a big fight can be as slog though menus selecting your next attack, then just watching character do thing you want to do... ugh, anyways, I'm sorry for being inflammatory. edit: oh damn, i should add that this is on PC. i have a ps4 and switch though. No classic consoles. [link] [comments]
