    I love everything about Dragon Quest IX! …except for alchemy

    I recently started replaying DQ9 after not touching the game since high school, and I'm having an absolute blast!

    While it does feel a bit slow and clunky coming after sinking a hundred hours in DQ11, I still think this game holds up really well

    …That is, everything except the alchemy

    I'll be frank, alchemy in Dragon Quest IX f*cking sucks. It is so slow and tedious and irritating, running all over creation for random items that are nowhere near each other just so you alchemize them into an item who's only use is to be used as an ingredient for something actually useful makes me want to fire the game cartridge out of a catapult.

    I remember why basically gave up on alchemy once I reached the post game of DQ9. I remember looking at the weapons in my Brady Guide and thinking "Wow, these weapons and armor look SICK" but absolutely dreading the thought having to go through process of getting every. Single. F*CKING INGREDIENT!!!

    Anyway, that's just me vent/rant about alchemy in DQ9.

    I'm still absolutely enamored with the game, but I don't think I'll be bothering with alchemy for a while.

    Missing tockles

    Hello there,

    Somehow I missed the 1 tockle which should be located in that Dark Fortress. I unfortunately noticed that after I already beat the Boss. Im now at that point where I traveled back in time and prepare for fighting tje real final Boss. Am I still able to get thst tockle somehow?

    Dragon quest 11 S Hama final trial strategy 2021 (SPOILERS)

    This is mostly just to help people out if this works for you (Mostly for those who want the best greatsword)

    ​

    My strat: Be level 90 and have good armor because your not healing during this, and this has a 90% of working so just keep restarting the game until you win (Worked for me atleast)

    Party:

    1. Sylv/Rab - Keep spam casting pink and Rab cast pearly gates until every enemy is dead this should have been 10 turns

    ​

    1. Luminary/Eight - Have Eight cast double up and next turn the unbridled blade then target the first octo guy, have Luminary use his ultimate sword tec to finish off the first octo guy next have Eight defend then Luminary spam dark sword attack until all enemy's are dead. this should be atleast up to 19 or 21 turns.

    ​

    1. Erik/Jade - Have Erik cast divine to make clones then use his krit attack to attack the box until it's dead, then have Jade cast revamp and next turn when all the enemy's spawn just spam pink typhoon until Erik has killed all enemy's, last enemy just use multitihrust just in case. at this point you will be at 29 turns.

    1. Veronica/Serena - Just pep them up before the fight and cast mega burst and your done.

    I got a perfect 30 on this

    What's the easiest way to grind out Elfin Elixers?

    I'm preparing for the fight with Overweening Pride and I'm gonna need a lot of Elfin Elixers for Magic Burst spam. What's the easiest way to get them for someone who only has ~60ish mini medals and doesn't want to do the casino?

    How much grinding must I do in postgame?

    Enjoyed nearly every minute of this game. I was delighted to find that there was an extensive post game as well. I got to Drustan's labyrinth, and can't even begin to whip Blind Hatred, much less in 25 moves. And Drustans's like "welp, guess you should just go up aboveground and screw around awhile until you can beat me..." And this is the first of THREE CHALLENGES?

    Also worth mentioning that I couldn't even begin to take down the Malicious Arboreal Serpent earlier on the Snaerfelt.

    Does this mean 20 hours of grinding to upgrade my battle grids? I kinda want to finish, but I have FFX and now Xenoblade 2 on hand. If there's too much grinding and not much story ahead, I think I'd like to put DQXI to bed for now.
