After my own personal quest, I finally finished Dragon Warrior 3 for GBC 20 years later. Posted: 06 Oct 2021 07:14 AM PDT This was one of the first games I ever bought with my own money, I was 10 at the time. I loved it and played often but I could never make much meaningful progress. RPGs in general have never been my strong suit. I would play intensely for a period of time, hit a roadblock and then lose interest for years. Staying focused has always been a major issue but I credited this to laziness. No matter what I did to change this, the problem persisted which then created more self-doubt. After some particularly bad years, I finally began seeing a therapist. At 30 years old, I learned I had ADHD and with treatment have turned my life around. Among other things, I finally had the clarity and self confidence to tackle this game once and for all. It may not seem like much but it means the world to me. tl:dr Undiagnosed ADHD made RPGs an impossible task and caused self-doubt. Treatment made life and RPGs manageable. Don't beat yourself up, get the help you need. [link] [comments]
what changes would you like to see in dq12? Posted: 06 Oct 2021 07:33 AM PDT for me, i'd like a speaking protagonist. silent worked in the old games, but in 11 it's a little awkward that he doesn't speak. i'd also like to see a female hero that isn't just a secondary option as the main hero line up is an absolute sausage fest. and finally i'd like to see the turn based combat enhanced by perhaps some rythm type mechanic that's different for every move or a dodging system similar to that of toby fox games. Question regarding Kiefer and Classes Posted: 06 Oct 2021 07:15 AM PDT Be it in the original or the remake, does anyone know what would happen if you cheat Kiefer into your Party after he leaves and try to change his class? Can he? [link] [comments]
What kind of MMO aspects does DQ X have? Posted: 06 Oct 2021 04:58 AM PDT Does it have typical stuff such as crafting and gathering professions, slow progression, plethora of side quests, etc? I'm kinda worried that they will just take out the time consuming bits in the offline version and just make it essentially a streamlined standard DQ game. I really want a grindy single player mmo-like game but I haven't really found one like that since Fantasy Life on the 3ds [link] [comments]
Preferred character/vocation system? Posted: 06 Oct 2021 10:00 AM PDT How you'd like the vocation system to work in DQ12, and/or your preferred system? Would you like an established character like ex: Serena who can class change but still strong on being a priest? Or picking jobs from the start? Or gaining new jobs as you play? Or creating new fresh characters? [link] [comments]
what exactly levels my fun forge? Posted: 06 Oct 2021 05:52 AM PDT can i see the xp i need for a level up somewhere (talking about fun forge levels here) and what levels the fun forge? is it only new recipes? do i get xtra xp for +1/2/3? how about reworking an item? can i craft the same item and get the same xp or is it diminished returns? DQ XI S | 2D MODE | Running too slow Posted: 06 Oct 2021 06:42 AM PDT For some reason, the game slows down to what seems like 50% speed for some reason when in 2D mode. The game runs fine in 3d mode tho....... does anyone knows what is that about? It was running okay yesterday, loaded the game today and now it's like that. I have no idea how to fix this. Posted: 05 Oct 2021 02:58 PM PDT As the title says - just beat DQ2 for the first time! My party was all level 50 (super unnecessary to do so lol) but yeah I would definitely not recommend entering Hargon's castle at any level below 35, maybe 40 😅 Anyway, for anyone intimidated by "the hardest Dragon Quest game", don't be! I played on the Switch. The modern remakes make the game far more enjoyable with the quality of life updates they added. And don't be afraid to have a map next to you for the Cave to Rendarak! I couldn't imagine going in there winging it lol So yeah, the game's great. Next up is actually finishing Dragon Quest 3. Just gotta grind a slight bit more so I can actually kill Zoma [link] [comments]
Dragon Quest is kinda fucked up (Act two spoilers) Posted: 06 Oct 2021 07:31 AM PDT So I'm a little high and I started thinking about the premise behind the game. Yggdrasil is literally a god playing with people. It's all just a big game to Yggdrasil. I'm assuming people had started to revere Yggdrasil less and less as time moved further and further away from the age of heroes, and Yggdrasil just thought, fuck it bring em back and unleashed the luminary and master of shadows. Everything that happens is as Yggdrasil wills it. Yggdrasil knew everything that would happen and people have no free will. That's why people always say it's not your time yet and it's not as Yggdrasil wills it, through the whole game. I can understand the shadow dudes motivation to take power for himself, cause he just wants fucking control over his own life. I probably would too if I could break away from Yggdrasil's eternal plan. Shit has everything planned out, and decided it wasn't getting enough attention one day so it just decided to unleash everything and kill half of the population in act two. Yggdrasil is a pos who maintains absolute control and knowledge of everything that has happened and will happen. Honestly fuck Yggdrasil. [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Oct 2021 06:29 PM PDT So I'm a complete newbie to the Dragon Quest series. And I've been playing through Dragon Quest 7 (got around 10 hours in) and I was wondering if the general consensus is if it was a good game for newbies or if there's a recommended play order or which one i should play next after I beat 7.
