- Hey guys. Which dragon quest game should I start with? 8 or 9? I'd prefer a game with 3D graphics, if possible.

Which mainline DQ games have the best gameplay? Posted: 04 Nov 2021 08:45 AM PDT Im playing through 4 rn and the lack of skill trees or even a job system are making me lose interest. I know that 6, 7, 9 all have the latter so should i try them next? I know 8 has the psych up system so im definitely going to play that too at some point. [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Nov 2021 09:36 PM PDT It's easily one of my favorite games ever now. It was so good! Type of game where I just couldn't wait to get off work and keep playing lol. I have never played any other dragon quest games (besides joker) and I want to play more. Do I need to play in chronological order or does it not matter? If not what are you recommendations on which game I should play next? [link] [comments]

I'm at the same point in DQ8 3DS that I quit when it was new on PS2. Posted: 04 Nov 2021 09:05 AM PDT I got to Pickham, and I remember why I quit: I needed to gain levels and get a lot of gold for equipment, and monsters in the area give piss all XP/gold compared to how much you need to level up and buy shit. So I decide to just run on through and get the Venus tear, Jessica gets oneshot by the boss when she's at full health which is fucking fantastic... and that probably wouldn't have been an issue if grinding in this game were actually rewarding. Not feeling much of a drive to keep playing, and this is where I quit in the PS2 version, except it was worse there because you couldn't accelerate combat speed so it took FOREVER to get through the unrewarding combat. What are the Core Elements of Dragon Quest? Posted: 03 Nov 2021 12:36 PM PDT I'm planning a D&D campaign inspired by some of my favourite games (DQV, VIII, and XI among them), and as I've begun brainstorming, I wondered what the core elements to the games really are. What do you think makes a Dragon Quest game's story and world? special This could be elements such as humour or the use of travel (going from a wagon to a ship to a flying vehicle, etc), or anything else you could think of that makes the games enjoyable to you that you think would be beneficial when making a game that is inspired by games like Dragon Quest. Any input you could offer would be greatly appreciated :) [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Nov 2021 03:49 AM PDT (it doesn't have to be 8 or 9, but those are what I'm leaning towards.) I tried 11 a while back and got most of the way through, but quit when I got ten hours or so into the after game due to the steep drop in production value and story pacing. [link] [comments] |
