omggg my first ever metal king slime

    Posted: 20 Dec 2021 12:23 PM PST

Update on my clay slime in pottery class: tried glazing it today and I think it turned out pretty well! The eyes definitely aren’t perfect but I think it adds to its charm. Have a good day!

I beat DQ11 and never found the Metal Door Key

    Posted: 21 Dec 2021 07:02 AM PST

I finished my play through yesterday morning and then after I realized I never got the ultimate key. I looked online and it said you would find it as part of the story…but I didn't.

How did I miss this? It said it was in havens above but When I went to havens above it was just a singular dude and a f ton of tockles.

Any way to get rid of starting weapons?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2021 12:32 AM PST

Title really. Inventory's starting to get messy and I'd like to dump the starting weapons (that can't be sold).

I figure the answer is no but thought I'd ask.

    Dragon Quest XI post game

    Posted: 21 Dec 2021 04:20 AM PST

Just curious, but what's everyone's opinion on the post game with the real final boss? I'm still trying to grind my way to get to a decent level to fight them, but I'm getting real tired tbh. I LOVED the main game, but the grinding is absolutely killing my motivation right now.

Does anyone have tips for making mobile games more comfortable to play?

    Posted: 20 Dec 2021 12:48 PM PST

I really want to experience the Zenithia trilogy but I don't have a DS. These games and look and sound amazing on my phone, but I just cannot seem to get accustomed to the touch controls or even settle on a comfortable hand position. Do you folks have any advice? I'm playing on a Samsung Galaxy S21.

Rhapthorne Is Killing Me ... Literally.

    Posted: 20 Dec 2021 05:59 AM PST

I have fought him several times here and he keeps wiping me out! I know my levels are decent (51,52, 51 and 49) but I am sure my gear is holding me back. What changes should I make to these load outs?

Hero (51) Liquid Metal Sword Mirror Armour Mirror Shield Great Helm Gold Ring

Yangus (52) Conquerer's Axe Gigant Armour Power Shield Great Helm Slime Earrings

Angelo (51) Odin's Bow Mirror Armour Mirror Shield Mythril Helm Templar Ring

Jessica (49) Spiked Steel Whip Silk Bustier Flame Shield Thinking Cap Ruby of Protection

Any guidance would be helpful. I will quest for alchemy pit ingredients but I don't want to spend hours in a virtual casino.

    Thanks in advance!

First-time player. Which translation of dragon quest 1 is the best? I did a test but I want others opinions.

    Posted: 20 Dec 2021 04:56 PM PST

I have played the very beginning of 4 different ones to allow myself to make an informed decision regarding which version I should experience the game for the first time with. I basically just talked to everyone in the first room and compared the dialogue.

The GBC and mobile version does have the advantage of seemingly being a bit easier to play as you can just press A to open chests and talk etc. I know there are some balancing changes too but I don't know the details of each version.

    1. The NES version:This one seems to be in the middle in terms of enjoyment for me. It has that old-timey flavour to it but not to the point that it detracts from the experience.
    2. The GBC version:This version seems to be directed at a younger audience as a result of the console its on. The dialogue is a lot shorter and plain which makes it easier to read through. But it also gives you the feeling that you are missing out on information?
    3. The Mobile version:I'm a bit torn on this one. I'm actually not really a fan of how the dialogue is stylized as the old-timey dialect is so thick that it almost borders on comedic. And it also makes it sort of a pain to get through as I have to spend a few extra seconds with each dialogue window to actually process what is being said. Maybe it's because I'm ESL (English as a second language). It does however add additional information in the dialogue which is lacking in the NES and GBC version.
    4. SNES version (fan translation):This version does come off as the best to me. However, it is a fan translation which makes me bit unsure to choose it. I would need someone else to vouch for it. I tried the most recent fan translation that came out this year. It includes all of the information from the mobile version but tones down the old-timey accent to being more on the level of the NES version.

I suppose I would also be curious to know if there are any other fan translations that I should be aware of. Maybe one for the GBC etc. I know it can be a sore subject to some people as those who grew up with let's say the NES or GBC version are nostalgic for that translation.

I'm also fairly sure that I have heard positive things of the mobile port. So please defend it. Maybe I just got a bad first impression.

I've made it to the point in game where the bridge there has been blocked off by rocks and I'm really confused by what the guy in front of them says

    Other games like V?

    Posted: 20 Dec 2021 09:00 AM PST

It's all in the title. Really enjoying this series but so far nothing has come close to V for me. Something about recruitable monsters makes every battle feel engaging since you never know who might join your party next. I'm also a big fan of not being railroaded into endless cutscenes like in XI.

Do any other mainline games do this?

    Dual Wielding Falcons +3 + Oomphle+Pep Up

Here's my question. I heard both sides, people saying the falcons dual wielded + 3 are really good and people that say they suck because something something ability scaling and crit.

Can anyone bring give me some clarity on this?
