    This is the first dragon quest I’ve ever played and I have to say I’m in love with it. The world is beyond beautiful, maybe the prettiest and most immersive JRPG I’ve played in a long time and the full orchestrated soundtrack is beyond lovely. I regret sleeping on the series for so long.

    Thoughts on the mobile versions of the DQ games?

    I just finished DQXI on the Switch recently and was considering on buying the mobile version of DQVIII on my phone after reading a pretty thorough thread about how similar this predecessor is to XI. But now I'm having second thoughts because the reviews on the app are claiming that the game is pretty choppy and glitchy on the phone. I've looked into rest of the available catalogue of DQ games on the Play Store and I've heard DQV is pretty good, but I'm open to any other suggestions if anyone has any spare thoughts to share on the mobile version of these games.

    I'm a classical musician and think that this orchestral soundtrack is amazing.

    I want to listen to some of it and was wondering if it's available anywhere. A quick search on Spotify doesn't show it and I'm not seeing a clear place to get it on google either.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    [DQXI][Near end Act 2 spoilers] Struggling to make a decision

    I have just forged the sword of light, and up until this point in the game I've only used greatswords. I want to decide if I should stick to my greatsword because if I equip the sword of light my attack will drop by 52 points and all of my skills are focused on greatswords. Now should i try and buy a really good sword to put in my second hand and reset my skill points or just stick to my greatsword? Thanks

    DQXI SPOILERS: My mixed feelings on the Switch version's act 2 content

    On the one hand, it was awesome to see how everyone handled everything after the world tree fell. On the other, I am glad I played the PS4 version through already, because this version spoils a lot of the act 2 story. Originally, it's a surprise when Sylv shows up with an entire parade, makes him seem even more mysteriously impressive with how he just seemingly pulled a parade out of his ass like it was nothing. Or discovering Rab and thinking something horrible must have happened, seeing as he looks like a frozen corpse. Or finding Erik and being confused and worried with how he's forgotten everything and you don't know why, or being surprised by Jade helping the bad guy out and being brainwashed.

    Now... All of that is spoiled ahead of time, it isn't a surprise. Now it's just "oh, there's amnesiac Erik, there's mind controlled Jade, there's Rab's body, there's Sylv's parade". Like, there's no mystery, no surprise, now you know exactly what everyone except the twins were up to, and there's zero surprise or wonder when you find them again in act 2. It almost feels like something that should only be viewable on a second playthrough, or maybe only AFTER you've found them in act 2 (and got their memory back in Erik's case) and they explain what they were up to in a playable flashback. I feel the surprise would have been ruined if this was my first experience with the game, but I thankfully already played the PS4 version, so this was more like a second playthrough bonus for me. But looking at it as a noobie would, my feelings are mixed. The parts were awesome, but I think their placement in the story was bad. Waking up as the Hero in Nautica, needing to be shown the state of the world, leaving the sea and seeing a blackened sky and evil monsters everywhere and not having any idea where your friends are... It was a pretty special moment, and it's why I like act 2's beginning so much. Now though, the placement of these new parts kinda damaged that pacing and feeling of everything going to hell at the start of act 2.

    Anyone else agree?

    After playing Dragon Quest IX, i can't stop wanting this perfection of a man for the upcoming Dragon Quest Heroes 3. I'm sorry Stella, Sterling and Pavo, but Ivor's the man.

    I'm sure everyone who played DQIX would agree that Ivor is the most memorable character in the series and the most popular character even more than Terry!

    [SPOILERS] Greatsword vs Sword for Hero in Act 2?

    So I have been using greatswords on the luminary for all of act 2 and liking it a lot, however I just forged the sword of light and Im considering re-statting him to use sword and shield, but as far as damage goes I feel like it wouldnt hold up to using Unbridled Blade with Greatsword. Is is better to have the luminary use the sword of light going into the fight with the Lord of Shadows?

    Right now my front-line is 8 with axe/shield for tanking hits, luminary with greatsword for damage, and Rab and Serena for both healing, buffing, debuffing, etc.

    Im tryin the very hard enemies cuz i heard this game can be a bit on the easy side and having tried a bit I can see that, but it spikes from easy to VERY hard. theres not an in between now, is there? Ill prolly turn it off if thats the case. I got no problem grinding either, ive done that for a lot of games, but to *spend 2 hours to get high enough to get to the next part, rinse and repeat* without having any sort of "ok you did enough you can just go now" is drivin me mad ahaha

    DQ V on PS2 & recruiting monsters

    I'm still in the first quarter of the game, made it without recruiting any monsters until I came across a boss that gave me trouble. I already have the wagon but I can't find the Monster guy that would give me the ability to recruit monsters. Apparently he is in Oraclebury but where exactly?
