Since they are all DS games, they should be easy to port to the Switch, right?
Do you think they will remake DQ IX and include all DLC and maps for the Switch?

Despite all the tropes, all of the cliches used throughout the story, they use them to great effect. I got pretty emotionally invested in the game. I haven't actually gotten THIS emotionally invested in a story in ages. But I really felt it. I really felt the emotional impacts throughout the story.

In particular, there are moments throughout the story where I find myself feeling tears in it. Such as, when you return to Cobblestone the first time. The meeting with Chalky is just...something that really hits hard that early in the game and then you awaken to the sight of the village being wrecked and a thought of everyone being dead, now that's a way to really raise the emotional stakes just a bit. (And then you can find books throughout the world involving Chalky too, I noticed that. That's interesting to know.)
And as you progress, you start to find more and more the stakes continue to rise, Erik started off like a real bro, though we are aware that he was doing this for himself, he genuinely cared too. And the fact that it's like a kick in the nuts when he loses his memory and he regains it later.
Losing Veronica...need I go on about that? She's a charming smartass. Also, Serena is adorable.
Finding that Sylvando's entire backstory can be summed up in the line "And then one day the circus came to town" made me laugh pretty hard. (The fact he's exuding Big Dick Energy throughout his introduction and for a large portion of the game is also fantastic)
Rab and Jade, I feel for both of them. Though Rab is also a great source of humor too. (Along with the Eighth and his interactions with Sylvando and Rab. He has some funny reactions. I'll spare you his name though if you haven't reached that point.)
Honestly, throughout the story even after I finish the second act, as compared to what people are saying, I don't feel like it's cheapened at all. Traveling back in time to right before we ascended the World Tree the first time doesn't feel cheapened. Everything that happened throughout the story DOESN'T feel cheapened by it. Though the loss of Awesome Serena is still the pricetag. But that's fine. Since we get all eight party members and we get the Ultimate Key as a result.

Edit: Forgot to add this little note. These are just SOME of the moments throughout the story. Obviously I can go into greater detail, but if I do, it would be longer than I'd like. So, simplified version. I love this game's story. Also, the world feels HUGE.

I'm Australian and I've backpacked around South East Asia. Whoever was involved with the localisation of the Australian tourists in Phnom Nonh, wow, there's some cringy accuracy with how Australian tourists behave in places like Siam Reap in Cambodia. I haven't heard too many people about old Melbourne town say "bonza" but the sentiment is incredibly accurate. A+ job. One localiser must have been incredibly pissed off with Australian tourists on holiday.

Hello everyone. The only DQ game i've played was IX and that was a few years ago, but to this day it's one of my favorite games of all time. I was wondering if DQ XI is similar in terms of gameplay, story, and just fun in general. I haven't played any of the other games and was also wondering if any of the older ones are good as well.

After like 2 months, I was finally able to finish DQ2 on Android. It was a weird experience, I've enjoyed some parts but also loathed some as well. I enjoyed the start of the game, with the attack on Moonbrooke reminding me of the start of FF2. Having more than 1 party members was a good addition after DQ1, but I feel like not being able to choose which monster to attack really hindered the experience. I really disliked the random encounter rate, as I thought it was disastrous. And I felt lost after getting the ship, which made me look for a walkthrough.

Despite all the negative things I've talked about, I really enjoyed the game for some reason. I don't know why, but I had fun. It was still a simple JRPG, but had some good improvements over the first one. There were some good ideas in the game. And now, I can't wait to play DQ3 as I've heard it's when DQ starts being DQ. Also, I'm quite curious for Erdrick's adventure. I think I'll be playing its GBC version though.

Rab: I know from study that Mordegon once possessed a high ranking figure of a old kingdom and ruined it. Could Nou Wut have been that kingdom?

Also Rab: Eh, it does not matter, let's go try and figure out why my old mate King Carnelian is acting oddly.

Upon playing through for the second time on Switch (first was on PS4) I am in awe at how much the symphonic arrangement influences gameplay. I just went through the star-crossed lovers story and thought I'd share a piece of music that was phenomenally presented.
It's "With Sadness in Heart" from DQVII. Here's the link in case any of you were looking for it, or just want to reminisce:

I just won the jackpot in the Octogonia in the post game (act 3) by following the internet wisdom:
    1. Rest at the inn in Octogonia
    2. Go to the "VIP Area" of the casino, talk to the bunny girl standing next to the large silo of tokens (to the left when you enter the VIP area)
    3. If she says "I got a real strong feeling someone'll be winning the whole pile before too long! Yep, I'm dang near sure of it!" go to step 4. If not, go back to step one (I only had to rest about 4-5 times)
    4. Play the 200-token roulette, bet 200 tokens on 12, 13, and 14. Repeat until you win the Jackpot (It took me exactly three spins!)
