When might we hear news of the next spin-off or remake?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 10:26 AM PST

I figure we won't hear about XII for a long time but it would be nice to see some details on the Monsters featuring Erik or perhaps the IX remake they talked about wanting to do.

Are there any major trade shows or anything coming up in the next few months where this stuff is typically announced?

Was DQ XIS: DE a commercial success or a flop?

Why did people complain about the music?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 07:30 AM PST

I have played this game for 2 hours. I have had my wife come up to me TWICE to ask me If I have already beaten the game. When I asked her why did she think that, she told me because she could hear from the other room of the house this MAJESTIC MUSIC that would only be fit for end game.

Thought this was funny to share.

Can you give me some tips on how to play DQ XI S: DE with Stronger Monsters on?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 06:22 AM PST

I have beaten DQ 1,2, 3, 4 and 8. So I immediately put stronger monsters on after reading that normal was VERY EASY. The stronger monsters' option give me the impression of being unbalanced. It does not makes sense that you have 25 HP and you have normal enemies taking 10 HP AND they have priority over you lol. I just got Erik in my party.

1)Should I just deal with it an it will eventually balance itself with more party members?

    2) Does this option on makes the game way better?

    3) What is the strategy when playing with strong monsters' option on?

    About quests

I didn't touch a single quest since the beginning of my let's play. Is that a problem or should I restart the game?

I finished DQXI. I’m at a loss for words! This ain’t right man.

    Posted: 17 Nov 2019 10:37 AM PST

After going through this very long journey, I completed the game after 90 hours, unfortunately. Why did it have to end? I've played many games in my lifetime, but this takes the fucking cake! Every second of this game was entertaining and enjoyable all around. There wasn't a single time that I was bored, I was engaged my entire way through. This is legitimately my favorite game of all time, that's how good it is! The story may be considered "generic" or too "traditional" by others but it still managed to be fantastic. Just because something is generic doesn't mean it can't have good execution. The characters, the orchestrated soundtrack, the gameplay, all the content within the world, replayability, all of it is just too perfect!

It saddens me that I completed this game. I never wanted it to end! This shit ain't right, I want to continue the journey!

I recently got the Dragon Quest artbook, and I'm in act 5 of DQIV currently. I played both games simontaneously but I still need to complete DQIV though. Really enjoyable game as well tbh.

    What next??

    Posted: 17 Nov 2019 12:30 PM PST

Hey everyone, how's it goin? I've been aware of dq for my whole life, I originally played dq9 as one of my first ever jrpgs as a kid and though i didn't beat it, i thought it was notable in my young gamer life at the time. Years later, i bought dq8 for the 3ds and adored it! I loved everything about that game, but never finished it! But finally, as of yesterday, I beat the post game of dq11s with over 100 hours level 99 party and some geat gear to boot, it's a rarity that I do that for rpgs even though i would consider them my favorite game genre. I adored dq11 and consider it one of my favorite games, so after that elongated background, i ask the dq community: what game should I play next? Thanks in advance for anyone who gives me recommendations, I feel that the people involved in the community would give me the best answers so that's why I reached out to reddit!

    [DQ3] Priest Spells?

    Posted: 17 Nov 2019 10:37 PM PST

My priest just hit level 41, but did not learn Kamakaze/Sacrifice.

I've been waiting for him to hit this point so I can turn him into a warrior with all the priest spells.

Any thoughts on why he didn't learn this spell?

Did Yuji Horii name the original hero ロト (Loto/Roto) because he likes gambling?

    Posted: 17 Nov 2019 07:14 PM PST

In Japanese, the word ロト, which for the purposes of Dragon Quest is translated as Loto or Roto, actually means "lotto." As in the lottery. I heard he loves gambling, which is why there are casinos in all the Dragon Quest games, so is that why he named the legendary hero ロト?

And if so, shouldn't the official transliteration of the name of the hero be Lotto and not Loto or Roto?
