    Today is moi cake day and this is my FIRST game in this series i bought this months ago but it feels new and fresh yet nostalgic and the best jrpg ive played along side the underrated ff5 thank you for showing me the light and giving me a good story through which my emotions erupted

    [DQXI S] During my battle with the postgame final boss, my whole team got wiped in one attack, except for Serena. It turns out that I just so happened to have made her defend and it saved her life so I could Kerplunk, revive everyone, and win. 130hrs to finish it, what an amazing game.

    Is Dragon Quest XI good for people who don't like TRPG?

    Hi people,

    I bought Dragon Quest XI for switch couple weeks ago, and I am struggling to enjoy the game so far (~10 hours of playing). I was really excited to play JRPG in 10 years, and I was waiting for the perfect game for my moment. I saw people saying that this game is GOTY for them and 10/10 game. I have never played dragon quest in my life, so I didn't know what to expect. I started the game, and a lot of aspects of the game disappointed me. I didn't know it was turn based RPG which I HATE, story line was too simple so far (classic JRPG story I think), and there are no other features that can complement my expectation. I really do not find any reason for me to continue this game based on what I experienced. I am curious why this game is so appealing to a lot of people. Maybe I just need to keep playing in order to find attractive features. Here are my personal preferences on games. Please share your thoughts on why this game is appealing to you and what you think of me continue the game based on my preference.

    1. As I said it, I really don't prefer Turn based RPG. I focus a lot on fighting and action when I play RPG. I even dislike the Mario + Rabbid game. I am hoping to see if there is other feature that I can overcome this.
    2. Voice acting/music are okay. I don't play games for sound much, but music is pretty good. Although I said Japanese voice acting is weird for me, I don't mind it.
    3. When I go to different maps, I find myself traversing all over the map so I can find all the items and chests. At first, I thought it was something fun to do, but now I feel like I am wasting my time to find these chests. I don't know if anyone does this, and let me know if this is necessary.
    4. I don't know when to fight and when to skip monsters. This game technically allows me to play through with minimum encounter with other monsters. However, I fight them sometimes and not other times. It also feels like grinding when I fight monsters to level up. This is problem because fighting aspect of the game is not fun.
    5. Story is classic JRPG, which doesn't appeal to me so far. I sometimes find characters' acting (including npc) stiff and awkward (Like guard is scared of dogs). There are parts of story I find really not necessary and out of nowhere.

    Please understand that people have difference preferences and some don't like what others like. I am not trying to criticize the game, but to understand why people like it so much.

    I want to do a 100% of 11 since I thought it was the most accessible with its dedicated lists and guides in game. This was before i learned about the casino accolades. Oh my god, whoever put these in the game should be crucified.

    I know that at the end of the day its luck, but can someone list out all of the luck modifiers the game has to offset this? Im 15 hours in with nothing, and I still need to do the roulette and poker ones after that.....
