    4 vs 9?

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 08:12 AM PDT

So I have the opportunity to buy dragon quest 9 or 4 but I'm not sure which one to pick. I was thinking of getting 4 cuz it seems to be more rare in Canada and I can try and pick up 9 later but now I'm not so sure. I'm really into the music of dragon quest so I'd probably pick which one is better in that field, also I should mention that 4 is $20 more than 9

I would love a modern remake of DQ 5, 8 and 9 (3 of my favourite DQ games) were you could choose between 3D graphics and 2d like DQ 11

I love the DS games but they would look so good on modern consoles. Also they could add new features to make them even better

    Dragon Quest 7

DQ7 is such a good game with such an interesting storyline and gameplay, they should really do a remake with DQ11 graphics! I'd love to see how the game would look and play if it was remade that way

Strongest Hero between the main games?

    Posted: 29 Oct 2020 05:21 AM PDT

I figure it would probably be considered Erdwin, but idk it is hard to compare.

I feel like the MC of 5 has a decent argument for him. He has priest spells, the strongest strength of all human characters, and is called hero despite not being able to use Zenithian stuff or knowing Zap line spells. Plus his children are absolute monsters. Not to mention the guy is almost impervious to emotional/psychological damage.

11 is considered really strong cononically during act 3, and I would say is maybe stronger that Erdwin since he defeated a monster that Erdwin supposedly couldn't.

8 seemed strong at the end game, but nothing in the game's lore ever gave him any sort of power scaling.

One could maybe say 11 is stronger than 3 due to higher tier spells being available, but the developers just hadn't thought of them at the time.

I have only noticed 5 and 11 really mention the heroes power much. The others just kind of leave it at a vague "strong enough" sort of sense

What are the benefits of Torneko as a party member in Dragon Quest IV?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 07:09 PM PDT

Howdy folks, I'm playing IV for the first time (it's somehow the one Dragon Quest I had never played whatsoever before I finally started it) and absolutely loving it! Torneko is incredibly charming as a character, but I'm in chapter 5 and curious as to what his benefits are in battle. I'm not familiar with the Goof Off/Gadabout class, but while I enjoy the whimsical random things he'll do on his turns and his good stats for the time being, I'm about to get Alena and co. and I'm curious if Torneko is worth using the rest of the game and what the benefits are for using him when he goofs off on every other turn and I'll have access to characters who are better physical attackers.

I love Torneko to death and I'm super hyped to play his spin-off games later.

    [spoilers] wtf is that ending

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 07:02 PM PDT

Beat calasmos who was really easy oddly enough but that ending left a lot to be desired, why couldn't the whole party go to bring back the sword and what is that scene at the end with the lady waking up her son

First time playing a Dragon Quest game and I love it.

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 12:12 PM PDT

I just wanted to show my love for the community with this post.

I am playing my first dragon quest game ever, it is dragon quest 8 on my 3ds. Aside from pokemon, I never played JRPG games, not even Final Fantasy. I am really enjoying the game, it has a very nice charm that I haven't experienced in the last decade since a lot of the games I play as a teenager and young adult are very serious games (fable, gta, red dead redemption, elder scrolls, witcher, assassins creed, etc).

This game has such a cozy feel to it with the art style and characters in it, the plot being very simple and already told in a lot of other mediums is also part of its charm. I also like the main character(i called mine Ddraig, after the dragon in highschool dxd), he's just a very simple good guy, no moral dilemmas(so far anyway), just does the right thing. The game just has a really nice charm to it, where it really feels like a fantasy game like the books we read as kids.

All in all, this is my favorite 3ds game, I would give it a 10 out of 10. The only nitpicks I have is I think that the menu/inventory is horrible but the game was made in ps2 days so it is understandable. Also I wish there were markers telling you where to go in towns because i hate going door to door in random houses hoping its what I want.

I can't wait to play Dragon Quest 11 when it is released on Xbox.
