(SPOILERS¿? ) Dragon Quest XI proved me wrong. Posted: 27 Dec 2020 07:52 PM PST For the longest time I was absolutely against Jrpgs with turn based combat because I felt they were boring, grindy or simply bad. I must clarify that I haven't played many Jrpgs tho (pretty much only Final Fantasy and Pokemon) and never really got into them either because I got bored with the story or I felt the combat was too bland and repetitive. Also, I hate random encounters. However, after beating DQXI in about 117 hours I will say that I was incredibly wrong regarding these things. The story was simplistic but incredibly entertaining with colorful characters and enemies (hands down some of the best designs I've ever seen both in videogames or movies), the combat was at times very easy but I never got overly tired of it and the whole world was just amazing. I've never been into looong games but this is an exception. I doubt I will replay this game anytime soon but I am grateful with this great experience. I actually bought Cyberpunk 2077 but had to return it so I downloaded this and have not spent 1 single moment regretting it. This game actually made me feel like a child again, hearing the fairy tales my older brother used to tell me before bed and I LOVED it. Ps- THANK GOD FOR GAMEPASS. If it wasn't for this platform I wouldn't have been introduced to Dragon Quest and Monster Hunter (which has now become one of my favorite franchises ever and the deciding factor on getting a Nintendo Switch). Absolutely loved DQ11 any suggestions of similar JRPGs? Posted: 28 Dec 2020 09:48 AM PST I got it on game pass and it's easily been the most relaxing 100+ hours I have invested in any game. Other than Pokémon this is the only other JRPG I have ever played, I would love to explore the genre more and welcome all suggestions. PS I hate random encounters. [link] [comments]
Does magic like Sap and Kasap have an easier time to hit with higher Magical Might? Posted: 28 Dec 2020 03:45 AM PST It's just something I've been wondering about. It's hard to actually test how true it is unless i actually wanna use it over a 1000 times with different amount of Magical Might. In my now third playthrough Veronica was mostly a de-buff bot while i had the hero using greatsowrds and erik/jade doing damage also. My question for another playthrough is if Sap, Kasap and other de-buffs are easier to hit with more magical might? If that's not the case, i might actually give whips a try the next time i play the game. [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Dec 2020 10:28 AM PST So, uhm about dragon quest 11. I am in the final place and I need to grind up before facing the boss. Therefore may you recommend me some places to grind? [link] [comments]

Should I worry about some party members being a bit behind on exp? Posted: 28 Dec 2020 09:39 AM PST Sorry if it's a dumb question, I got Dragon Quest 11 for Christmas, I'm absolutely loving the game so far, but I had Serena KOd in a few fights, so she's a bit behind the rest of the team in terms of experience, is this something I should be concerned about? Or is it okay for her to be a level or so behind the rest? [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Dec 2020 09:20 AM PST So I just got dragon quest 1 on my switch and I kept on dying and respawning back at the castle and I was wondering, is there anywhere else I can spawn at or is it just the starting castle [link] [comments]

Is DQ11 the best place to start or would you recommend another game? Posted: 28 Dec 2020 05:22 AM PST I started DQ11 a while back and i enjoyed it a lot besides not really liking the music but i took a break after Act 1 and didnt continue, i was thinking of starting the game again but i was wondering if any of the other games is considered the best or not to start [link] [comments]
I have two ways to play DQ 1-5: SNES or Android - which is better? Posted: 27 Dec 2020 11:05 PM PST Disregarding nostalgia of course, as I never played these games before. I would just like to play the one that is the best play experience, whatever that may be. Surprisingly, after googling this, I've seen most people seem to say the SNES is the worst way to go. Oh, I forgot! I also have GBC/GBA for 1-3! [link] [comments]

Random user makes a DQ5 tier list Posted: 27 Dec 2020 04:32 PM PST The major rule are that you don't spend too much time grinding, exploiting casino or hunting. You WILL of course fight monsters during the journey so super low level run is not considered. The other major rule is to not be rude if you disagree. Guests are not considered, however Pankraz would be A tier cause invincible and Harry B tier cause item bot and decent spells. S tier Hero: perfect avaiability and great equipment. Can heal and use boomerangs to dominate earlygame and is guaranteed to get a MKS tier weapon endgame. His magic offense is quite lacking since wind relies on high rolls. He is also quite slow Slime Knight: easy recruitment and excellent stats. Can heal and is a tankier version of the hero. Bang and Boom are good spells and will be used since he lacks boomerangs. Will fall off to Son and Golem but can be a perfect backup healer. Golem: below SK cause avaiability but between meditation and massive bulk, his combat is unmatched. A base Golem can perfectly keep up with a level 34, seed boosted Hero and that's saying something. If you've been diligent with mini medals hunting you can get him a Falcon Blade as soon as you get him. He is also easy to recruit! Lacks boomerangs but that's the only issue. Son: below Golem because terrible base stats and is locked to single target damage to be useful. Still incredible due to zenithian equipment and once levelled up he can AOE with zap and multiheal. A tier Dracky: bad bulk but edged boomerang and dazzle gives it great crowd control. Easy to recruit and can be gotten before Coburg arc. Will fall off but his starting performance is solid enough. Bad Apple: amazing, amazing base stats and easy recruitment. Locked to single target damage and will fall off during act 3. Saber: abyssal act 1 since won't obey. In act 2 he is a weaker version of bad apple, but 100% recruitment rate and solid single target damage makes him a nice option. Will get outclassed by Golem in act 3. Chimera: a stronger Dracky who will eventually learn multiheal, due to boomerang and good stats it will surpass Slime Knight. 1/16 recruitment rate is shacky though, hence the low placement. Hero, Golem, Son and Chimera is a solid pick for act 3 dungeons. B Tier Slime: a worse Dracky, but easy recruitment and boomerang access is nothing to scoff at Bianca: can contribuite as a mage and item bot in Act 1 and since she is considered a party member after leaving and will secretly level up as hero does, she will have a similiar level. This gives her Frizzle, a great spell for second half of Act 2 that will range between 65 and 80 damage. Useless in act 3. Orc King: controversial pick but he takes some grinding before getting Multiheal and you get an Orc King right before Act 2 ends, he will be outclassed as damage dealer by Son and Golem and as healer by Chimera and Son. Easy recruitment is still a plus tho. Restless Armor: A Slime Knight with better strength and bulk, no magic and abyssal recruitment rate. You have two chances of getting it, otherwise it would be even lower. C tier Sancho: slow and inferior to Golem but still decent combat Daughter: terrible start but sap and AOE spells can give her decent utility D tier Basically every other monsters: either terrible stats or low recruitment rate. However if you manage to grab Kingcure Slime, Great Dragon or Killing Machine you have amazing monsters on your team. Debora: if you get lucky she can double hit some liquid metal slimes in Gotha cave to boost actual good characters. Nera: bad. Which pains me since she is my favorite but can't be used at all in normal, not grindy playthrough. Can be a backup midhealer though, which saves her from being in lol tier Lol tier Tuppence: lol Dwight: Omega lol Starkers and Rebjorn: Omnilol Next time I will do a Tier List that analyzes how characters will perform with grinding, casino and hunting. Praise for Dragon Quest XI (spoilers inbound) Posted: 27 Dec 2020 10:59 AM PST It's been a while since I've sat down with a good turn-based RPG, so I picked up Dragon Quest XI for the Nintendo Switch about a month ago. I'd hear that it would be a great game, but I have to say, I was blown away. I found myself whiling away the hours playing it, and I honestly felt immersed in the game--something I haven't felt in years. Not since Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. I sank over 150 hours into doing a full playthrough of the game (main game, post game, and bonus bosses), and I thought the game was fantastic from start to finish. Minus the casino minigames and a couple boss fights of course (the fight with Booga and Jinxed Jade come to mind--back to back fights with no chance to heal, and both of them enthralling, beguiling, forcing my characters to dance, and siphoning every point of MP I had didn't make me a happy camper, and Gyldygga almost caused a game over due to having the Midas Touch and hitting like a truck), I enjoyed myself. I felt connected to all of the characters. Each one had something about them that stood out; from Erik being the best bro ever, to Serena being the sweet one, Sylvando being one of the most well-written characters around (he was a savage when we first met Prince Faris, and even his story with Don Rodrigo reminded me a lot of a coming-out story, something you don't see often--at least I haven't. Rab's role as the team dad and hilarity (you have to love those Ogler's Digest bits), and Jade's cool demeanor, voice (is it a contralto?) and ... charm (she was who I chose to have as a "housemate," as most men who happen to like the Seductress/Femme Fatale characters would) made them all a great cast. I didn't like Veronica much at first, but it was hard not to like her after her sacrifice. And the identity of the eighth party member took me by surprise (even though I played Smash Bros Ultimate, but I didn't know who he was beforehand, and it was a while since I did that spirit battle). Regardless, I liked him all the same, and the fact that they had something in common with Rab made it all the more humorous. I didn't play with any Draconian options on, but since I have to stay home for a week, I might as well play it again while I work on poetry, essays, and working out. I've selected every option except No Armor (what can I say; I like the costumes, and I'm not a complete masochist). I've been laughing at all of the NPCs talking tripe and all of the shypox messages for the Hero and party members--except when they cause death, of course, I've been getting my rear end served to me on a silver platter. Even the weakest enemies were causing problems for me. When it was just Erik and Hero, I was struggling something awful. I just beat the Slayer of the Sands, so from what I hear, it's not going to be as bad, but I'll have to keep my wits about me, especially since if Hero buys the farm, that's an automatic game over, and I can't shop, so whatever I can find or steal is what I have to work with. This is really a fantastic game. Made me want to pick up Hero in Smash Bros., too. My apologies for the essay, but I can't sing this game's praises enough. I started with DQ III on the Game Boy Color and loved it, but this one was impeccable. Five Stars, 10 out of 10, A+, all of that good stuff. [link] [comments]
