| Posted: 29 Jan 2021 01:20 AM PST I've played through every main series dq game, except X, and after a second and even third round of them I feel as though V is kinda overhyped. I felt this way when I first played through the series when I was younger having it be the third in the series I played and really except for the story and monster recruitment it isn't to great. I think the combat is almost the worst in the series, it's exceptionally linear and through my several playthroughs I did not feel as though the monsters I recruited changed much of how I played. Maybe I'm jaded after playing through the series so many times and the rng involved in switching up a playthrough is kinda a pain, to the point where I have a playthrough where I beat the game only using human characters in act 3. In III customization is easy, IV you have a variety of members for difrent situations, 6 you have vocations to change the characters as well, same with 7 there, and 8 was a newer system with skill points and tension. In V you have to grind for most monsters with getting some feeling near impossible, bit I digress. Game is still great 9/10 [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 28 Jan 2021 01:48 PM PST I feel so unrewarded for taking my time in each map. It feels like the only reason to venture off the main road are marked sparkles. There's the VERY occasional chest, but for the most part, I feel like there's nothing in them but extremely avoidable enemies. Towns feel rewarding, but not the fields. That's so backwards? I'm up to the Kingsbarrow, and as an example, the area outside the Kingsbarrow had like 0 chests (like 1 with a hardy hide big whoop - don't think I even found it the chests are so awkwardly placed). If I beelined each sparkle I'd have missed nothing. There are entire deadends with no purpose. I feel like I'm wasting energy. This area also has that weird rocky place you can climb with jump to the north north east of the house over the water. Nothing up there either. Am I missing something or are the fields really this empty? [link] [comments] | ||
