First time playing Dragon Quest or a real jrpg - 'Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride' is amazing....

    Posted: 24 Jul 2021 06:06 AM PDT

I bought a DS 100+ games in 1 on ebay a week or two ago. All the Dragon Quest games are on there so I decided to try one out. After doing some research, some people/critics consider Dragon Quest V the best of the series. So I am probably half way done with the game. I just got my kids. It is so good.

Did anyone else notice that the main theme for Dragon Quest XI played while Greece was walking out during the Olympics?

What does Dragon Quest mean to you?

    Posted: 24 Jul 2021 07:37 AM PDT

Hi there! So, I made a video, where I reviewed Dragon Quest: Your Story
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8U7e-U1wsOA
And one of my biggest criticisms of the film was that while it presented Dragon Quest V as being deeply important to Luca, it never really explained WHY it was so important to him. It simply assumed the game's importance was self-evident.

So to all the Dragon Quest fans here, I'd like to ask, what made the Dragon Quest franchise important to you? Did the games provide comfort to you during some hard period of your life? Were the games the first time you encountered a particular trope or idea? Why do you love these games? I'd really like to know!

    Looking for a spin-off

    Posted: 23 Jul 2021 11:38 PM PDT

Hey ! I've been a fan of the main series for a while, I've played V, VI, IX and XI, a bit of VII and I'm working my way through IV. I'll play VIII and the first three eventually but I'm looking for spin-offs to play afterwards. I really prefer turn-based gameplays but any gameplay should be fine as long as it doesn't require you to have good reflexes or coordination. Also, I would prefer ones that have a version playable on a portable Nintendo console and I don't speak Japanese. Anyone have ideas to help me out ?

Recommended Skill Point Allocation for Angelo

    Posted: 23 Jul 2021 09:19 PM PDT

So far, Angelo has the following: 76 - bow, 12 -stave, and 13 - charisma. As of now, he has 27 skill points saved. I'm wondering how I should allocate skill points going forward. Should I focus on putting them in charisma? Or should I focus on getting oomph (65 - stave)? Or should I use 12 on bow before investing in either? This is 3DS by the way.

Has the new app dragon quest Tact killed off any chance of a new game in the series?

    Posted: 24 Jul 2021 12:51 AM PDT

I seriously wonder this. A LARGE portion of me getting a 3DS was the promise of a DQM remake on the 3ds, that never came to NA. I know it's pointless to hope, but I still do hope that maybe they'll make a digital only release of it, or bring it to switch, because I find it FAR more enjoyable then pokemon.

I dabble in Tact, but the problem with it is it's not a casual friendly game, and I don't want to spend 50 hours a day playing it to keep up. And I miss the breeding and capturing of the original game.

DQ XI: What's the difference between the "Digital Edition of Light" and the "Definitive Edition"?

    Posted: 23 Jul 2021 02:23 PM PDT

I just revisited the product page on Steam and noticed that the Edition of Light is no longer being listed in favor of the Definitive Edition. I was wondering what the difference is and if the Edition of Light is still playable on its own?

    Thanks!
