    2D DQ XVI is worth dabbling into... I redid the last act 3 chapter after beating it in 3d. The riding mechanics and dungeon mazes are different. you can enter more wells. It gave a fresh perspective to the game. Any interesting location or event worth seeing in 2d?

    Anyone notice that during the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics, namely the Parade of Nations, the band is straight up playing the Dragon Quest theme? I sure did!

    ETA: The music was during the start of the Parade of Nations.

    Thoughts on the Switch versions of 1-3?

    Maybe connected with the Olympics, but Dragon Quests 1-3 are all on sale on the eShop right now. What are people's thoughts on them? I'm reading some reviews, and almost every one mentions stuttering while moving, and how jarring the 'updated' character artwork is. Does the stuttering/artwork issues get in the way that much?

    Aside from some of my favorite DQ monster designs, Ruff is so damn cute I can't get over it! Especially as a paladin, him and his wolf look so cute! He reminds me of a peanuts character, actually! The way he lies down on his wolf when you stand still (in 3DS) is just adorable. I'm surprised he doesn't seem to be more popular? I can't find any figures of him or anything! Anyway, just wanted to share :)

    So I haven't watched the olympics, but hearing them playing a bunch of video game themes including the fanfare for Dragon Quest. Initially, I thought this was one of the coolest things they could do! Being a huge fan of DQ, I initially thought it was great it was getting recognition, and it is a no brainer that they could use the fanfare for the event. That is... until I saw https://twitter.com/doomassistme/status/1418541954569101315?s=21[this tweet.](https://twitter.com/doomassistme/status/1418541954569101315?s=21) (this goes without saying, but DO NOT harass the author of the tweet) I'm not going to act like I'm ignorant to Koichi Sugiyama's actions, he fucking sucks for trying to hide Japan's warcrimes. But at the same time I grew up and loved his soundtracks for the series. I feel like I think about this every now and then, always conflicted about how I feel about supporting Dragon Quest because of how they indirectly fund Sugiyama and his actions. I can't wash away my nostalgic feelings for his music even being in knowledge of what he does. Content Creators I respect have a clear distain for Dragon Quest, and I don't even blame them knowing what they know. It's thanks to content creators like the one in the tweet that remind me of how bad Sugiyama is, but at the same time I can't hate Dragon Quest.

    At the end of the day, I feel like you should "Just play the games you want to, but be aware of where they're coming from." (Got that quote from Accursed Farms lol). If I enjoy Dragon Quest, I think I should be able to enjoy it. But I also acknowledge that Sugiyama's actions are deplorable. But I want to know your guys thoughts on this? I can't be the only one who feels this conflicted lol.

    First I did the SSOL (superior sword of light), then I did the black cup to farm mini medals, and then I did someone to stay with me forever, and I did Gemma (I know in the regular version you can ONLY choose to live with GEMMA but I have XI S but I still chose Gemma) and then i'm gonna do Ogler's digest and finally Serena hairstyles from redoing the 1st and 2nd trials, I don't like Serena with short hair, and I don't know what the Ogler's digest does

    Is there any reason *not* to get Dragon Quest XI on the PS4 (as opposed to Switch)?

    The game is $10 cheaper on PS4 by default, and right now for the Summer Sale it's $24 cheaper than the Switch version, for the second time in about as many months.

    I'd prefer to get the Switch version just to have the handheld option, but it doesn't seem like it's going to go on sale anytime soon so I'm wondering if there's anything I'd miss out on going for the PS4 version.
