    Im playing Dragons Quest XI S Definitive Edition for 5 straight hours now. One thing i realized is how easy the fights are, and this is literally my first ever turned based RPG in my life. The game itself has a charm, but sometimes it makes me sleepy a bit, lol (i trust its going to be much better later on).

    The problem is, i dont like easy games. It shouldnt be too hard either, but easy games makes me bored, really. I just read at the beginning there was a difficulty option i didnt even see.

    The fights will be a bit harder later on, or im screwed? Honestly, im not gonna restart 5 hours of gameplay to turn on hard mode. I would burn out fast.

    Cobi’s journey is the single most impactful game from my childhood. I feel so fortunate that this game was remade on 3DS in 3D, got an English translation, and now UMPCs let me play it in a handheld!

    Theoretical Act 3 final dungeon

    Always thought that before facing Calasmos, the party needed to traverse a short yet sweet post game dungeon.

    I've wanted the last dungeon to feature all of the party member's skills before facing Calasmos. Making all of them really necessary to be there to defeat the final baddie.

    Like in 1 door, only Erik can pick lock it open.

    Next room, both switch needs to be activated at the same time, and only Jade & Sylvando can reach the switches with their athletic skills.

    One room needs Serena to cast kaswoosh to lift the party up, Rab to cast kacrack to freeze the water, and Veronica to use kafrizz to melt the frozen door open.

    Last room needs the strength of Hendrik to push a boulder or protect the party with a shield against a sudden attack by an enemy/trap, while the hero finally breaking the seal of the last door with his luminary powers.

    Ofcourse this could all be done thru a cutscene. What do you think? I was inspired by final fantasy 6's ending scene where all party members shown off using their skills in escape.

    Dragon Quest IX port/remake/anything??

    DQ9 is my favorite of the series being the first one i played and I'm wondering why is it that all of the older games have received a port but DQ9 has not, it is still trapped on the DS and all of its online functionality has been shut down, it is hard to imagine why square-enix has not done anything with this game yet is there any news because i remember an interview with some of the developers and they stated that it would not be hard to port or even remake onto the switch because they took great care in preserving the source code and according to them it would only take around 9 months to a year to remake and optimize and get the online function working for the switch

    Picked up this game because I needed to immerse myself in a rpg. I have some time on my hands and been playing games that i did'nt have the time for such as drakes uncharted series. When completed drake I looked on whatoplay for recommendations and came across this gem and picked it up from eBay but the regular edition because it was $25 and the S edition was $40. I got the cheaper version because i didn't know if I would like it. Now I have always overlooked this series even though I love the dragon ball anime and the art style. Man the musical score back some vibes of me playing Pokémon. So far I have been enjoying the game so much that I decided getting the upgraded S version which had a price reduction. I only made it into the 2nd town after the prologue so i did'nt miss much and I can't wait to play the rest at full experience. Can't wait for it to come in the mail. Hail Amazon.

    Finished my first DQ game in 2D. It was a nailbiting finish. Yet, I imagine it to be easier because of 2D's switch character system. You don't lose a turn. It sad though that the hare raising suit doesnt seem to carry over back when switching to 3D.

    Dragon Quest X PC Help Needed

    I have been trying to get Dragon Quest X working in the US, and while I can get the launcher open and play the game using the DQXBoot.exe file, the DQXGame.exe file shuts down before opening a window, and any attempts to launch the config opens a blank window, plays an error noise, and immediately closes. Reinstalling did not fix the problem. I'd like to try the game but finding solutions for these problems is difficult due to it being a Japanese only game. Any help would be appreciated.

    If it helps, I'm running it on Windows 10 with an Intel 17-7700K, 16GB of ram, and an RTX 2070 Super. The game is not installed to Program Files.

    Zenithian Equipment in IV vs V

    Did 4 ever say that you had to be Zenithian to use the Zenithian equipment? Or give any kind of lore reason at all as to why only the hero could use it?

    DQ5 makes a big huge deal about how only the legendary hero can use the Zenithian equipment (why can't Zenithians use it...? are they just too lazy or cowardly or weak to be the hero?) and I don't really remember 4 doing that but then I don't really remember a lot about 4.

    ....And 4's hero was half Zenithian whereas after all those eons of time the DQ5 characters really shouldn't have any Zenithian blood at all unless the legendary hero's descendants were inbreeding for thousands of years or else went back to Zenithia at some point / had kids with a Zenithian much more recently (at which point why even bother having the hero from 5 be descended from 4's hero as opposed to just another random Zenithian like 4's hero was).

    If the wives from 5 were "heavenly brides" like the angel from 4 then maybe it'd make sense but they're... ...not.

    It's not like the hero in 6 was Zenithian.
