    I'm playing VII for the first time (3DS) and just finished the roamers chapter and now I'm sad. I had a weird feeling when Kiefer left the party to guard Lala, but I didn't expect him to actually stay behind at the end! I loved the friendship he has with the others, especially with all the party chat dialogue, and now he's gone! Why did he have to leave like that?

    I know his reasoning makes sense, he's found a purpose now, but I honestly thought his story was going to be a coming full circle kind of thing, like by the end he'd come into more of a leader role and decide he was ready to become king afterall. this wasn't what I expected at all.

    DQ9 Balance Update Patch

    Hi folks! I finally got around to putting a bow on a real version of the patch I've worked on off and on for the last few years (you may have seen a thread about this on gamefaqs, which a fellow poster linked here a few months back).

    • Use Deltaxui to apply the patch
    • Does not require starting a new game. All changes will be implemented immediately when loading a safe file and will revert properly if you return to the original game, so don't worry about corruption or things that might get updated in future versions. Easy to try out without commitment!

    Here's a log on what's new:

    Vocation stat adjustments

    • Strength and Resilience vocation growth ranges narrowed with natural growth caps reduced to 400 strength for Gladiators and 300 Resilience for Warriors. Mages naturally grow to 156 str now, with all other classes falling between.
    • Natural growth to Mending & Might improved slightly for all spellcasting classes
    • Natural MP growth improved for several classes including MA & Gladiator due to to updated skill MP costs
    • Luminary Might and Mending growth reversed to better suit their spell list
    • Thieves lose Mending and have slightly improved deftness & significantly improved charm growth
    • MP growth is moderately improved for mages and priests to narrow the gap with sages
    • Sages got a greater might/mending boost than other classes to narrow the gap with mages/priests

    Passive Trait adjustments

    • Wand MP absorption moderately improved to +3% and +5%
    • Fisticuffs attack scaling raised from +100 to +140 and damage cap raised for regular attack & most skills
    • Claws, Bows, Axes, Daggers, and Spellcraft now grant +6% crit bonus.
    • Boomerang, hammer, and whip grant +10 extra attack at their highest bonus.
    • All other weapons grant +4% crit
    • +10 extra strength added to Focus and Guts trees.
    • +20 MP added to Spellcraft, Faith, and Englightenment trees
    • Resilience passives from Virtue tree reduced from +100 to +60
    • Magical Might & Mending passives from Spellcraft and Faith reduced to +100 from +160
    • HP Bonuses from a few traits were reduced slightly – full cap for HP is reduced to +270 from +310
    • Charm bonus from Fource tree increased from +10 to +20

    Note: these changes are not reflected in the text of the skill screens, but will take effect properly when attained. I will hunt for this text and attempt to correct for a future version

    Enemy Adjustments

    • A few of the weaker bosses were given a notable boost, such as Grand Lizzier
    • Reduced HP for late-game metal slimes to allow alternate farming strategies
    • Most bosses received adjustments to their resistances. Many can now be poisoned, some can be put to sleep, some can be charmed, and a small number can even be paralyzed!
    • In addition to the above, legacy bosses got a few extra tweaks. Most importantly, I've given them a secondary weakness (1.25) corresponding to their primary weakness: Fire<>Light, Earth<>Dark, and Wind<>Blast.
    • These changes should open up new viable strategies for fighting them. Experiment!

    Spell list Changes

    • Many spells are learned at lower levels than before so spellcasting classes stay competitive with physical classes as well as each other
    • Priests gain Kazing
    • Thieves lose all spells
    • Minstrels gain Acceleratle, Multiheal, and Kacrack (though they lag behind mages & priests)
    • Mages and Sages swap Safe Passage and Magic Burst, and Mages swap Acceleratle for Deceleratle. Note: Magic Burst DOES work with 0-zone, but it's less powerful. Still a better fit than it is for Sages IMO.
    • Armamentalists and Luminaries get significant overhauls. Debuffs are split between them; Armamentalists gain Bang, Boom, Kaboom and Luminaries lose Heal/Midheal and gain Multiheal & Omniheal

    Spell & Skill Changes

    • No damage formulas are changed,but numerous other changes contribute to practical efficacy updates
    • MP costs adjusted for numerous abilities; third & fourth tier spells are cheaper to allow spellcasting classes more staying power in deep grotto dives
    • Damage caps have been updated for numerous skills – generally speaking, physical and multi-hit abilities have lower caps than before while elemental and single hit abilities have higher caps. Fourth tier spells cap at 4999 and Magic Burst caps at 9999.

    Fixes from previous version:

    • Rangers now properly learn Moreheal < I had accidentally added one too many spells to the Luminary's list and it bumped Moreheal out
    • Estark had his normal HP restored - no more OHKO!
    • In the last version of the patch, every boss had a low chance of receiving most status ailments. With the way special weapons like Cobra Claws and Fuddle Bow work, I found this to be too exploitable in my testing, so I did some cleanup and most bosses now have only one or two effects they are susceptible to (with Poison being the most common). Do some experimenting!

    So 8 has this voice line where they say "All's well that ends well."
    I really liked that voice line because I tend to get stressed over shit despite it ending well. It sounds really poetic and lyrical so I googled and it and guess what.

    8 is an average Shakespeare enjoyer.

    DW2 Switch

    Played through 3, no issues at all, and figured I would continue my DQ/DW replay journey with 2. (Yes I know my play order is weird.)

    Anyway, has anyone else experienced severe lag? Movement seems slightly jerky and when in battle there's a ton of lag between entering the command and it being carried out. I also noticed the stats window, command window and actual battle text are different fonts/sizes.

    I have my original NES and it ran way smoother but I don't want to touch any of my original saves to start fresh, and I have the iOS version but detested the mobile controls.

    Dq11, Do party members keep their buffs when they're on standby?

    Like with pep, if I cast a buff on a party member then put them in my stand by, does the buff wear off or is it like pep where they'll keep it until they're in the active party?

    Endgame question (possible spoilers)

    This is my first time playing a dragon quest game and I really like it so far my main question is what level should I be for the end game and with what team setup right now I'm running hero, jade, Erik (was Veronica), and Rab (keep in mind I just got the last orb needed to get to the endgame also if it matters since idk I'm playing dragon quest XI S from the Xbox game pass) also one last thing what other dragon quest or just RPGs in general would be recommend for a beginner like me

    DQ3: Priest to Fighter to Sage... Worth it at this point?

    Hey there, I'm seeking a little advice on my party build... I have a Thief>Sage, a Mage>Thief, and recently class-changed a Priest to Fighter (Martial Artist that is). I did this because I'm playing the mobile version and I thought a second Words of Wisdom would not be available.

    Turns out a second Words of Wisdom really is available in this version. But now that I've found it, I'm questioning whether getting my Priest>Fighter to level 20 and then changing her to Sage is a good idea. Her stats will have been halved twice at that point, and currently the only benefit would be the stats she has gained from leveling as a Fighter.

    Since Fighter has no spells, will this have been a waste of time and stats? Or can I salvage this decision with a little more grinding?

    I hate seeing her MP cut in ¼th, but with a Hero and a Sage backing her up, I DO technically have three sources of healing in a pinch... however, since my Priest>Fighter changed class right after learning Kazing, she still boasts the strongest selection of healing and revival spells.

    Should I stay the course, or use that book?... Or alternately, should I have my Mage>Thief (level 24) abandon her endgame path and take on Sage as a 3rd class?? (Though honestly I like Thief better than Fighter...but that's just personal preference and perhaps novelty)

    So I've been playing DQXIS, and I have Eighth. Parallax just does not seem to be proccing. Does Magical Might affect Parallax's paralysis chance? If so, why did they decide to give the only character who can use Parallax a Magical Might of 0?!

    Hi guys! I watched some youtube reviews on Dragon Quest VIII (3DS) and XI (Switch) and got interested because apparently the games are pretty funny, and I also loved what I've heard so far of the over the top voice acting. Which one would you say is funnier / has more comedy? Both are quite expensive, so I'm going to start out with only one. I kinda like the more unrealistic environments in VIII, but all the characters / enemies looks fun in both.

    Hi there!

    I did a quick search for this topic before posting. If it exists, and I missed it, I'm sorry.

    My son and I are trying to play multiplayer in DQB2. I've finished the story, and he just unlocked multiplayer. We're both playing in PC using the game pass version.

    When he tries to visit my island, it pops up in the menu for him, but when he tries to join, it says that there's a connection error. We can't seem to get passed this. Any tips?

    Imagine Dragon Quest and Dragon Ball Suddenly Combined into a New Series

    For obvious reasons, both have Akira's artstyle and with quite a few characters looking like Goku and the others, I am genuinely curious how that would turn out. I feel like it would be neat to see the Dragon Ball multiverse and the Dragon Quest universe combine.
