[DQIX] what was your go to team and why was it that?

    Posted: 18 Mar 2020 10:03 AM PDT

I always see people recommending the 2 Sages 2 Gladiators combo but I'm still interested in what set up other people had.

Personally I run: Priest (Hero) Gladiator Armamentalist Defender

    DQIV or DQVI?

    Posted: 18 Mar 2020 04:49 AM PDT

Hello everyone! I want to spend the next days playing some good old Dragon Quest, and I'm undecided between IV and VI. I've only played I, V and XI so far, and I would play on mobile. Which one do you guys thinks would be a better choice, and what are some pros and cons?

    Cheers!

Anyone else realizing dragon quest's long play format is perfect for maintaining sanity when in quarantine? Dragon Quest XI is literally keeping me whole right now, along with my pup. Share any quarantine stories as well as any dragon quest play stories that helped you get through a rough time here. I think we all need to hear those stories now...myself included!

Dragon Quest 7 remake and puzzles

    Posted: 17 Mar 2020 11:54 PM PDT

Hey everyone. So I've been getting conflicting information about the DQ7 remake on the 3DS as to how much of it was changed from the original PS1 release. I'm aware of the fact that the game has added a shard tracker thing that lets you figure out where those are much easier, and also streamlined the opening dungeon to be a much simpler affair, in a way I'm really not a fan of, removing the puzzle solving components of the dungeon that I personally found really fun and engrossing. However, what I'm wondering is whether the game applied this level of streamlining to the rest of the game/how severe it is. I'm very curious to know, and hadn't really gotten a straight answer from people I've asked about it elsewhere.

Are there any good grinding spots in Act 3 of DQ11 BESIDES Haulellujah/Electro Light

    Posted: 17 Mar 2020 08:05 PM PDT

    Title.

Tired of people recommending Haulellujah/Electrolight. My party is about level 49-51 so I'm not even close to having the proper spells/abilities for that method. I'll grind rng metal slimes or hands if I have to. I just want to know a spot that has a decent spawn rate, or any other method.

Edit: I also get dicked on by all of the post-game arcs and the trails. So those won't work

    Thanks

Hypothetical Dragon Quest Heroes III roster.

    Posted: 17 Mar 2020 12:17 PM PDT

I complained a while ago about how the DQHeroes games (specifically the two musou games) had way too much of a focus on DQIV and it should have spread out more to the series. So I decided to do this.

I set myself the following rules:

-All 11 mainline Dragon Quests must have at LEAST one fighter. The key component of this roster, basically putting my money where my mouth is.

-No one game may have more than three characters, with the exception of DQIV. IV gets special consideration simply because that had SO many characters in II, and I didn't want to alienate those fans.

-No Heroes. As with the actual Heroes games, none of the main heroes are playable. So no Erdrick, Solo, Luminary, Guv, none of that.

-No boss villains. As much as I love villainous characters and would ADORE to add Dragonlord and Dhoulmagus as playable characters, it seemed the DQ fanbase didn't like that idea. So I axed it. All characters are heroes in some manner or another.

Also a slight disclaimer: I have never played the Dragon Quest Heroes games, and I have no played every Dragon Quest game. So please be patient if my choices seem a bit... esoteric. That said I'd love to hear some ideas from people who know the series as a whole better than I do!

Anyway, without further ado, here's my roster for a hypothetical Dragon Quest Heroes III!

    -Dragon Quest: Princess Gwaelin

With both Erdrick and Dragonlord disqualified, Gwaelin is the only remaining major character from this game. While I have not played either Heroes game, I HAVE played Hyrule Warriors, which is a similar licensed Musou game. And if that game could use Marin to represent Link's Awakening, I don't see why we can't use Gwaelin to represent DQI.

-Dragon Quest II: Prince of Cannock

As tempted as I was to include the Princess of Moonbrooke, we already have plenty of female spellcasters. And the Prince of Cannock might be the closest to a traditional Hero-style character without using an actual Hero.

-Dragon Quest III: The Priest, The Sage

Took a leaf out of Dissidia's book for this one, representing the classes as characters. The Sage as I understand it is the most famous and iconic class of III next to the Hero, and the Priest gives us a cleric-style character which this game doesn't use many of compared to the warriors, spellcasters and martial artists.

-Dragon Quest IV: Alena, Kiryl, Torneko, Psaro

As stated above, IV gets special consideration due to it apparently being the "main" game Heroes draws from. Alena, Kiryl and Torneko as far as I know are the most popular characters in that game. The final slot was a toss-up between Ragnar and Psaro, but Psaro is not only more popular he's the closest thing we can manage to a villainous character.

-Dragon Quest V: Bianca, Nera, Debora

V already had two of the three brides, so I felt it was only fitting to add the third one.

-Dragon Quest VI: Carver, Terry, Amos

Carver and Terry return, while Amos is added because due to his popularity and personality, making him a fun joke character.

-Dragon Quest VII: Maribel, Ruff, Kiefer

Maribel and Ruff return, and Kiefer joins for the same reasons as Amos.

-Dragon Quest VIII: Jessica, Yangus, Angelo

I very strongly considered adding Morrie, but ultimately I felt including the original three party members should take priority.

    -Dragon Quest IX: Aquila, Patty

While neither of them are permanent party members, Aquila is very important to the story and is a temporary party member, while Patty is important to game mechanics. I felt the latter could also utilise moves from the various classes in the game to represent her role as the "party creator".

-Dragon Quest X: The Ogre, The Poppet

Just the two classes I felt represented the game best. If it matters, the Ogre is female while the Poppet is male.

    -Dragon Quest XI: Jade, Sylvando

I may be wrong but I believe these two are the most popular party members by a wide margin. I considered adding Hendrik but I wanted to leave space for other games.

-Dragon Quest Heroes Rocket Slime: Rocket

Decided to include some spin-offs, plus this is the perfect opportunity to include a playable Slime.

    -Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker

Probably the most popular spin-off needs at least one character, and as far as I know Joker is the most well-known protagonist of this series. Technically he is NOT a Hero and can be included despite the No Heroes rule.

-Dragon Quest Builders: The Builder, Malroth

The Builder has the same technicality as Joker (even more so, considering the whole theme of their game is that they're not a Hero, but can be the hero anyway) and Builders is both popular, modern and could have a fun moveset. Malroth (in his Builders 2 form) is added for the same reason as Psaro.

And there we go. A musou roster made up of 40 playable characters, representing at least one from each mainline game and then some. Add in the prerequisite 4 original characters each game has, and it comes out to a total 44 characters.

What do you guys think? Is there anything you'd change? I'd love to hear some feedback on this.

I was wondering how long on average it takes to beat the game. Also I was thinking about downloading DQIII as well and was wondering how long it takes to beat that game? Just curious.

Hello there guys, so i started playing Dragon quest VIII today on my 3DS XL and noticed that the text is blurry for some reason. Is this normal? Or is it because i'm playing on a XL model?
