Dragon Quest XI Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition-About hidden skill panels

    Posted: 21 May 2020 08:14 AM PDT

So you know those skills in the character builder that appear as a ? and need 4 adjacent skills to be bought before you can see what they are?

Does anyone know if those skills, once unlocked are permanently visible or not?

For example,in the Hero´s sword skill tree there is a hidden skill witch I am 99% is the dual wielding skill, say I get all 4 adjacent skills needed to reveal it,if I then refund the whole tree does the skill remain visible or do I need to get all 4 adjacent skills again to unlock it?

    Thanks for your help :-)

[Spoilers] The climax of Dragon Quest: Your Story is utterly hilarious

    Posted: 21 May 2020 02:44 AM PDT

I should probably preface this by saying that I've never really been super into Dragon Quest, but I have played a few of the games before in the past. Anyway, a friend of mine (who's only familiar with the series through Smash Bros.) decided to put the Netflix movie on (which I didn't even know existed) because they had heard that people liked it, but that the last 10 or so minutes apparently ruined the whole thing and thus they were very curious as to what could have elicited such a response.

We got to a point where we were eagerly awaiting for the part that allegedly ruined the film as neither of us had been particularly enjoying the movie up till that point. I think the only thing we ended up praising in it was the music, the backgrounds/environments and some of the character models/animations.

Regardless, we finally got near the end and what occurred was something neither of us were expecting at all. As it turns out, the whole film is actually an isekai story and all the events that had occurred took place in VR recreation of Dragon Quest V, but that's not even the funniest part. A virus shows up and starts turning off the game's textures, gravity and collision and explains that he was made by some hacker who's only message to the player is to "grow up, loser."

The idea that there was some random hacker who hated Dragon Quest V so much that they decided to program a virus to ruin the VR game based on it just so they could call the players losers is simply hilarious to me. I genuinely want to know what led that person to the point where they felt that it was necessary for them to do that.

Sure, maybe they were just some jerk that wanted to ruin other people's fun or maybe they just happened to really hate the idea of people wasting their lives in a virtual world or something like that, but I think it's way more humorous to assume that they just happened to have a seething hatred of DQV for some unspecified reason.

[DQ1] The Dragonlord is vanquished! On to II!

Got a good laugh out of good old Rydon on my first DQ8 play through.

    My hopes for DQ 12.

    Posted: 20 May 2020 08:51 PM PDT

I'm new to Dragon Quest after playing 11 on the Switch I think it's fantastic. The game is a damn near masterpiece for me. I'm already about to finish my second play through.

Anyway that's not the point. The one thing I wanted to note is Toriyama's art style. I really think it complemented the game very well. However the one thing that bugged me is that it didn't feel "Toriyama" what I mean by that is 90s Toriyama Art style. I personally believe that Toriyama was in his prime as an artist during the 90s with Dragon Ball Z manga. I even looked at some of his other artwork for the other Dragon Quest games and his art work on the Zenthia Trilogy are masterpieces.

My hope for Dragon Quest 12 is that they take a more 90s Toriyama art style approach. Imagine playing a 3D DQ Fane with art style of 90s Toriyama...I couldn't even imagine that

Trying to find which game to get someone

    Posted: 21 May 2020 01:53 AM PDT

My girlfriend is a huge fan of the series and I'm trying to find a specific game she played when we were younger. We were both born in 99 and it was probably anywhere from when we were 7-13 years old. I'm very sure it was only on DS, and she played it for a ridiculous amount of time. I remember her describing it as having an infinite quest system? I don't know if that's all the games or not. I think it may have had a dude in purple on the original cover but it also might not have idk. I want to try to find this for her birthday, let me know if I can be more specific to help narrow it down.

Help with Dragon Quest 1+2 (Bugged Prince)

    Posted: 21 May 2020 01:22 AM PDT

Probably one of those things I should have looked into before applying the patch, but I've ran into my first game-breaking glitch: after going to the inn in Beran, the Leaf of the World Tree puts me in an endless dialogue loop. Is there any way to get the prince back without starting clean on a fresh save file?

    [DQIX] DQVC Wi-Fi Phone Hotspot?

    Posted: 21 May 2020 12:36 AM PDT

    Hi!

I was planning on starting up a playthrough of DQIX, and I've heard about a trick you can do with your phone's mobile hotspot to get the DLC quests and guests using a Wi-Fi hotspot from your phone.

Could somebody link me to the steps required to do this, or if it's simple just say what to do? A quick Google search didn't show me exactly what I was looking for - most of what I found were circa 2017 guides with AR/save editing, not the newer Wi-Fi methods. Thank you!

Should I get the Switch or PS4 version?

    Posted: 20 May 2020 08:12 PM PDT

I heard different things like how the switch has a version that has more content but worse graphics but I don't know how much content it has compared to the ps4 version.
