[DQ8] Is it worth grinding at the first casino? Posted: 06 Apr 2021 09:25 AM PDT I just reached the first casino (at least I think the first I'm in Pickham) and was wondering if it's worth grinding for items. In dq5 for example I grinded for the sword for my hero. I don't mind grinding at all, in fact, I like it most of the times. At a first glance It didn't seem worth it, but I'm sure some dq8 veterans can answer my question. [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Apr 2021 06:39 AM PDT My party is all level 33 right now, but I'm getting bodied by Captain Crow. Does anybody know a good strategy to beat him? [link] [comments]
The Dragon Quest V story is really dark in hindsight... Posted: 05 Apr 2021 04:28 PM PDT So because so much of the main character's thoughts are left up to player interpretation I think this is honestly just speculation but Dragon Quest V tells a really dark story if you look at it a certain way... You have a hero whose father was murdered, spent 10 years a slave and proceeded to live outside of society for years with his only company being monsters. I think this tells a story where he is just traumatized. I mean who wouldn't be although this is obviously speculation. Then an unspecified period of time after his escape he gets married (I chose Bianca because it made the most sense) and this is his first human companionship (outside of Harry) for a considerable amount of time. It is also someone he connects to as is shown by them getting pregnant with his child. Then later you and your wife get petrified for over 10 years and you wake up to find that your wife is missing. The only person you've shared a legitimate connection with for years is missing and needs your help to find her. Now I didn't get past that point but man that story was really dark when you look back at it. [link] [comments]
[DQ8] I'm just wondering how far in the game I am. Posted: 06 Apr 2021 09:06 AM PDT I just got to hear from red to go to the cave up north. I'm about 12 hours into the 3ds version. Just wanted to know since I ordered dq8 together with some other games I wanted to play. [link] [comments]
What specific elements does Dragon Quest VIII do better than XI? Posted: 05 Apr 2021 04:05 PM PDT VIII > XI is a somewhat common opinion. I was wondering about the reasons. [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Apr 2021 10:44 PM PDT So I've played DQXI like four times and I decided for a 5th run I'd play with stronger monsters. However, I feel like I'm really getting my ass kicked. I'm in the cave near Gondolia and basically feel like I'm barely scraping by in fights and I can't really defeat the boss there so I'm grinding. I'm very fearful for when I have to fight Jasper after. I really wanna stick through it and not wimp out before even getting to the boat. Some info: My party is currently 17-19 (with Sylv lagging behind the rest at 17) and I have Erik on knives with Eleven/Sylvando on swords. I've been trying to rework gear to at least +2. Any tips? Edit: woopsie, forgot I grinded Sylvando to 17 already. Edit 2: Thank you guys so much! I switched El over to greatswords and got hustle dance for Sylv and did the gold chain trick and it really helped. I was able to get through Grotta della Fonte much easier! [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Apr 2021 03:55 PM PDT Possible spoiler It has been awhile since I have last played DQ8. I'm wondering if I should even go back and finish before starting either V, IX, or XI. I left off somewhere near a casino, and Madea had just been kidnapped. About how far do I have until the end? I really enjoy this game, but am afraid I ruined it by going a little bit without playing. I have heard though that DQ games are pretty easy to get back into and not lose your place. Is this true? How do I go about catching up? Thank you for any suggestions! [link] [comments]
New to Dragon Quest and I need help Posted: 05 Apr 2021 05:47 PM PDT Hi everyone, I've recently gotten in Dragon Quest from enjoying Hero in SSBU, so I decided to play DQ 1 on my switch and so far I'm loving it! The charming dialogue, creative monsters, and that old RPG feel have me hooked. So my question to you lovely people is simple, which game should I try out next? The newest one or should I go in order? Is that an overarching story or is it akin to Zelda in which you can pick up any game and not be lost in the narrative? I only have a switch so my options are limited Any reply is appreciated! [link] [comments]
got into the Builders 2 groove after thinking about it and made progress Posted: 05 Apr 2021 07:33 PM PDT sloppy creations but I made it to Moonbrooke and I'm enjoying that island a lot. but that could be my love of DQII speaking. whoever said this game was for small kids is dumb because the story got really dark. Cool Pastword Reference I Found In Octagonia(Mild Spoilers for After the World Tree) Posted: 05 Apr 2021 11:26 AM PDT I just got to the Octagonia Casino and I got a pastword for the Briscolletti mansion in DQ5, and Mr Briscolletti happens to own a casino. This was a cool to find right after playing DQ5 [link] [comments]
I hope the next DQ doesnt have too many party members like DQ11 had Posted: 05 Apr 2021 03:33 PM PDT I really liked DQ11, story, gameplays, graphics, everything was how i expected a next gen DQ to be. What i really did not like though was that the game gave you more party members than there could be in a fight. I know more party members propably give the writers more room for cool interactions and are generally usefull plotwise but i really prefered how DQ8 (my all time fav) did this. King Trode and the princess werent active party members but just some characters you could talk too or that could appear in cutscenes. I hated equiping all my characters in DQ11, i prefer having my 4 dudes. I also, even if this sounds stupid, was asking myself what characters i should put in the active party. Not because they are strong/usefull but because i would like to travel the world with them. Having characters in reserve always felt strange to me, like they arent my favourite toy anymore and i feel bad for putting them away :D [link] [comments]
Act 3 recommended way of doing and recommended level for each one Posted: 05 Apr 2021 04:57 PM PDT So yeah, I'm at the part where Cetasea told me I have to prepare before going against Calasmos, so yeah any route you people recomend me to do it? and what level is recommended for doing the upgraded bosses in the world? First time player here. What kind of strategy do you use in battle in Dragon Quest XI? Posted: 05 Apr 2021 03:59 PM PDT I can't see any strengths, weaknesses etc listed for enemies. So do you just cast Fizzle for enemies that use a lot of magic etc? [link] [comments] |
