    Playing my first Dragon Quest game today thanks to Xbox Gamepass! I love JRPGs, I don't know why it took me so long to start the Dragon Warrior/Quest games. Any tips?

    So before entering the fortress of fear I decided to get myself a full metal slime set for each character that can and ended up levelling like 8 levels because I killed a lot of metal hands for the molten globules. Now I'm at level 52 and Erik Divide + Victimiser is one shotting each boss I come across (even defeated Jasper within a turn). I have a save but it's like 10 hours worth of side quests and mat grinding 😐. Im thinking of just not using Erik at all to make it at least a little bit challenging...

    So, I found the Monster Arena, and Morrie the Monster Master told me to track down and whip some monsters into shape. One of the memos he gave me was for the Hollow Knight, and I remember seeing a big green lizard with a big axe near Farebury. So, I went and beat it, but I only got a silver coin and some exp. Why didn't it join me?

    Kukkle is GROSSLY underrated & Slime Knight is GROSSLY overrated (100% MKS reliant)

    I almost never even see the Kukkle being mentioned for recommended monsters & I simply don't understand why. For the early & mid game, there are few monsters better. It has access to pretty much all of the great support spells including Increase, Decrease and BiKill, making it a fantastic support character for boss battles. It also ends up being one of the strongest monsters thru the early game with it's low level cap, consistently being even stronger than my slime knight.

    The biggest factor tho is that it has access to Boomerangs which is absolutely essential for the Early & Midgame. Once it does hit Level 20 it will begin to drop off as stronger mid game monsters are accessed but it still ended up being THE primary monster I used pretty much all the way thru Act 2, as it simply outclassed everything else in sheer destructive power and boss utility. It only gets replaced in my active party when Chimera becomes available as it isn't til then that anything better comes along.

    As for the Slime Knight, I can totally understand it being considered so great.... assuming you have access to the MKS! Without it though, it literally just becomes another run of the mill monster, maybe one of the better of the low tier monsters but still nothing more than that. It's strength without the Metal King Sword isn't that good, and it doesn't have access to any whips or boomerangs which without the MKS really hurts it's usefulness badly. Being that I am playing on OG hardware and do not have access to Save States, I was simply unable to do the Casino as to me it seems nearly impossible to grind up coins without them.

    This squarely puts the Slime Knight on the bench for me, for now and forever, as it simply can't stack up to other better monsters. It seems 100% reliant on that MKS to be great and without it becomes not at all worth using. It's not a good sign when a monster's sole redeeming quality is being able to equip a single broken weapon.

    Perhaps with grinding to boost it's stats up & access to better weaponry in the later game it becomes better but I just don't see using it much in the early or mid game without that broken MKS. It's stats are nothing special thru that part of the game either, and it's definitely not from neglect as it stayed in my caravan the entire time.

    I also read that DQ5 tier list (w grinding) & simply do not understand why it is ranked as the best monster in the game when it seems to be that way simply because of the MKS and nothing else, considering even that tier list admits that it becomes a benchwarmer in Act 3. Seems like it's ranked WAY too high in most ppls eyes imo. I also don't get why Kukkle isn't even listed in that tier list as it absolutely deserves to be there!

    The Slime Knight does have good defense & a good array of equipment it can use, and it does have some healing ability which is nice, so I suppose it could definitely be worse. But again not having access to the MKS & not being able to equip any sort of multi hit weaponry hurts it badly in my eyes. If there is something I am missing about it's usefulness then please do let me know cus I am simply not seeing it.

    Also, as a bonus subject, I find it strange that Healslime is also not on that tier list at all yet both regular slime & dracky are. It is superior to both the dracky & slime in every single way, uses all the same equipment, has better stats all around & also caps @ level 99. I see zero reason to not use a healslime over the regular slime or dracky & it absolutely should be ranked accordingly. It also gets access to all of the single and multi heal spells and has an absurdly high MP pool. It is hurt a bit compared to the cureslime in not having access to Kazing or Kabuff, but that is literally it's only drawback. It even fights better than cureslime due to it's far superior stats, meaning it should find itself in your active party more often. Either way, if you're using it as a caravan healer only, then not having Kazing won't matter much anyway with it's crazy MP pool. It absolutely deserves a spot on that tier list & was overlooked for reasons I can't fathom.

    Speeding up Yangus? DQVIII Mobile

    So, I found a cracking spot along the embankment to find Metal Slimes... But they always run away before I can do more than 1-2 damage. Yangus CAN oneshot them with Hatchet Man, assuming tht A, it connects, and B, he gets to try before he either runs out of MP or the slime legs it. How do I make him faster? Alternatively, how do I slow the slimes down? Jessica is the only one who consistently moves faster than the slimes.
