    Fallen in love with the series, where do I go next?

    Hi,

    I finally got around to playing Dragon Quest XI on switch and I have fallen completely in love with Dragon Quest. I'm nearing the end of XI and would like to experience more of the series. I will be getting DQ Builders 2 but I also want to know where to go in the main series.

    I played VIII, thought it was good but at the time didn't appreciate it as much as I probably should. I also played 9 a bit but always had an issue playing games on DS as I found it uncomfortable to play even with a grip.

    So my question is: should i get 1 - 3 on switch or android (phone not tablet) or are there others you would recommend instead?

    Question about Dragon Quest 1...

    So I started playing the series a long time ago on the Game Boy. I had a cartridge with DQ 1 and DQ2 on it. Needless to say I enjoyed dit but I dont remember ever beating it. Fast forward to now. Haven't picked up the series since then and with the release of XI the old games came out on the switch as well (1 , 2 and 3)

    I bought them all and I am really excited to start this journey and join the community, however I feel a little stuck.

    So I have mostly been playing this game blind. Only thing I really looked up was the map of the final dungeon (because it seems to have changed since I last played it. I am lvl 18 and try as I might I cant beat the dragon lord. I get to his second phase and he one shots me. Am I too low a level for this? Should I just keep running through the castle and levelling up?

    Erdricks Sword Erdricks Armor Silver Shield Warriors Ring

    Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Like I said I'm excited to get into these games again and I cant wait to be part of this community.

    Hello! Because DQIX was my first and only DQ game, how well was it recieved compared to other games in the series? I remember getting the game purely for three create a character Haha.

    I picked up my old Savefile on the Mobile Version again, got to Baramos' Lair. Problem is that he kicks me ass super-hard because my Team is consists of Hero / Thief / Merchant / Sage. I deliberately wanted to challenge myself a little by doing things a little sub-optimally, and it's been quite a lot of fun sofar.

    Thing is, because I changed my Sage (formerly Priest) as soon as they hit Lv20 (which I know is a bad thing to do, I did it on purpose) they don't have Multiheal yet, so I can't quite keep up with Baramos' Damage Output. I thought having two Chars with Fullheal might suffice, but evidently it does not.

    Which is why I wanted to ask, does anyone know of a good place my Sage could level up solo (ie kill off the Hero, drop off the other two temporarily)? I mostly just want to catch them up to the rest of the Party (low-to-mid 30s by now) so they can get Multiheal, and going solo means they get x4 the EXP (or rather, it doesn't get divided on the Party) which should help speed the process up?

    PS: Bonus just-for-fun Question: anyone ever used a 3-Sage Party? I'm deliberating recruiting 2 Gadabouts (maybe on a different Playthrough?) just to see what it's like, and I'm wondering if that would be a little overkill xD

    I have accumulated a bunch of Christmas money and have been thinking about what I should use it on. I have never played a Dragon Quest game, but XI seems interesting. Should I use some of my Christmas income to buy XI?

    So, as a kid, I got DQ IX, and I loved it. It made up my late childhood, along with Pokemon Heart Gold and Professor Layton & The curious Village. I recently found my DQ IX cartridge and replayed it. I'm thinking of trying the other games, but don't know if I should start with the first one, or if there's a better place to start. I have a 3DS, Xbox One, PC and my phone to play on. I can probably get an emulator if its on Game Boy or something older like that...
